I have just read the last review and was absolutely astonished, I have just spent two weeks at this hotel and it was amazing. It was clean friendly and very very well run. On our arrival we had welcome drinks offered us in the reception, and after booking in our bags were... more

Hotel is about 3m from Scala & 5m from Poros. Bus was every hour. Stayed in main hotel. Room was average size, ensuite was a good size, and both were always clean. Small niggles: only 2 small bottles of water per day provided in room fridge (having stayed in Rome half... more

Just returned from a week at the Apostolata Hotel which we enjoyed on an All Inclusive basis. The hotel is located on the south east of the Island and is quite close to the resorts of Poros, Sami and Scala. Although the hotel provides transport to Scala throughout the day,... more

Negatives: There is a lot of building work going on as they take over the entire hillside! (to be fair, most of it is unobtrusive but not if you are in the superior room block we were in - a high screen would be nice). The advertised spa wasn't ready when we arrived in the... more

On arrival to the hotel I didn’t really know what to expect. But as soon as I stepped into the hotel reception it was very stylish and boutiquey!!! The receptionists were very helpful. We stayed in the superior rooms, which were very comfortable, and had great decor! The... more

We were rather apprehensive about going here after reading other reviews but were very pleased with the hotel. The food was excellent with a varied and changing selection available every day. Our room was large and comfortable and was kept scrupulously clean. The majority... more

Location is fantastic. I would fully recommend Skala. The hotel was good. However, we had a problem with the room - broken window which obscured the view. The hotel wasn't particularly keen to resolve the problem. The rep wasn't too interested either. Only interested... more

Very disappointing. Pool was dirty, food was the same every day, wasn't particularly tasty and seemed to attract a lot more flies than guests. The drinks available were poor and our honeymoon room with a 'sea view' looked straight out over a building site. The man who ran... more

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel, it is just the location, built on a very steep hill which made climbing up and down to the swimming pool and restaurant very difficult. It was in a very isolated place and if it wasn’t for the courtesy bus laid on by... more

The hotel was nice when you first walk in its nice and clean, but in a way it feels deserted and empty. The rooms were nice and clean. There are a couple of swimming pools but 1 of them was shut so it left only one and that was small. The food was nice but the same... more

nice place
I really do think that there are a lot of spoiled people out there, because this hotel is not to bad as some people would like to do believe. If you really want all the luxury that you think you diserve, then go to the bahamas....please why always this complaining? I have had a real good time there, and believe me..I also had my doubts....but lets face it.....our standards are not their standards, they also must learn and improve. I gave the hotelmanagment some ideas to make things a little better....but then I talk about minor things. People who don`t like to walk, should not complain afterworths, because there is enough information...and the pictures in the brochures are correct. The only negative thing is are thoose disquisting people who eat like they never ate before....take as much as possible one one plate...you know? Well...and there is always enough!! I have read some comments about insects...haha...what do you think there are in country`s like this? flying marsmallows? Give me a break...! Take a glass of wine ...relax ..enjoy the views and the sun ...and don`t be picky about every detail.... and.....arrogance takes you no where....bye A happy traveller.
Very Very disappointing
This was one of the worst hotels that my husband & I have ever stayed in. The staff were very unfriendly if not down right rude! The famed Greek hospitality does not exist here. The hotel employs many eastern European students who speak very little English - they must really hate their jobs as they all refuse to make eye contact with guests let alone smile at them. The pool area toilets did not appear to have been cleaned for weeks. The food was boring, very over cooked, over salted & of very poor quality it was usually cold & there was never any fresh fruit or vegetables- one morning at breakfast there was tinned fruit which was so old it was beginning to ferment/fizz in the bowl! Food in the pool bar was very limited, expensive & poor quality - plus as others have said a less than clean area. The hotel ran out of clean towels - when we phoned reception one evening after 6.00pm to say that the towels in our room had not been changed we were told they had run out of clean linen so we had to shower with wet towels. They ran out of glasses & took the water dispenser out of the dining room to cut down. They also took the extra pillow we had asked for from our room (I have a neck condition & need extra support) & refused to give another replacement as the hotel had not got enough pillows - even though the hotel was less than half full. When we stayed many many people complained..............& one couple made a formal complaint & were aiming to get a refund once back home......... need I say more? We both felt that this hotel seemed on the brink of closure. Also as others reviewers have said the 92 steps, from pool to reception, often at a 45 degree angle, are not for the faint hearted! HOWEVER Kephalonia is superb so do not let this put you off. Just do not stay at this hotel what ever you do!!!!
Dont' even waste your time - a dreadful hotel!!
We stayed for a week at the Apostolata in September 2004 and how disappointed we were. It's refreshing to read how much other guests were disappointed, we were beginning to feel it was just us. The whole place needed some TLC. The pool bar area was filthy, I wouldn't have eaten anything from there! There were mouse or rat droppings in the pool area toilets. The hot food in the restaurant was very disappointing (always cold), we paid for a taxi into Scala for 4 evenings out of 7 to get a decent meal. (Supposed to be All Inclusive). The hotel bar was definitely lacking in atmosphere, as was the choice of drinks. It's a shame really because this hotel could put you off kefalonia for good and it's a beautiful island! We should have stayed at the NINE MUSES again in Scala, it's a far superior hotel which we cannot fault at all.
Total rip off
This hotel is advertised by Olympic Holidays as for the discerning traveller and was priced by them accordingly. We have never stayed at such a rubbish place, service poor, pool bar run down, no food at pool bar, staff sullen, not enough sun beds for number of guests staying. The only good thing about it that we had only booked for one week. Do not believe claims that you can get to the beach directly form the property, you can't the path end at the top of a cliffe. Very disappointed will never book with that company again and would not recommend them. Please do not go its horrible.
rubbish
worst hotel we have been to, food poor staff poor swiming pool saltwater and mice seen behind pool bar.
Never again
My husband and I are 50+ and were really looking forward to staying in another Louis hotel as we have been twice to the Louis Zante Beach hotel with our grandchildren aged 9 & 13. The food, the rooms, the facilities were all first class at the Louis Zante Beach. Oh how we were so disappointed with the Apostolata to say the least. It is definately not an A class hotel. We were all inclusive for 2 weeks and after the food for the first four nights, we ate out in Scala for the the next 10. There was never any fresh vegetables, the food was very bland (apart from the amount of salt they put it), the room we had was clean, but that is all I can say about it (very disappointed, very very basic) not much of a view either. The poolside bar had limited food, was not very clean, and neither was the pool itself, and poolside toilets were not very clean either. There were quite a number of people who had the same views as us, and would never stay there again. Its definately not a place for people with walking difficulties as there are 92 steps to climb from the pool area (very tiring after a day in the sun). Also there is no childrens pool, just the shallow area of the main pool. Only entertainment at night was a quiz were you could win a bottle of wine.
Very disappointed
Last minute booking for 35-yr old couple w/o kids through the Times newspaper which claimed that it was a 4 star. Wrong! Olympic sold us the Full Board as a real moneysaver for drinks etc. Wrong! Hotel website claimed that it is 2km from Skala. Wrong!2.5 miles as I ran it twice.Reception staff (Adela especially) dreadful. Ask for Stela as she is the only one who smiles.Restaurant staff are E.European students on no pay so service useless.Food good though pool bar meagre.Pool dirty:floating objects(looking like human faeces as proclaimed by kids on our last day!) despite lovely views.Room fine though checkout at 1200 and airport transport at 1800 on final day leaves you roomless unless you want to spend 42E to extend for 6 hrs.Courtesy bus (driven by 2nd friendly staff) starts at 1100 (too late) and finishes at 2100 (too early). This is conveyor belt tourism at its worst. You arrive and depart and the hotel doesn't care what happens to you in between. At least 3 other sets of guests shared these views.Promise of renovations this winter don't inspire.Overrrated and overpriced, never again.
peace and tranquility
The hotel is situated on the road between Skala and poros, on a hill overlooking the sea. We were in a bungalow , it was comfortably furnished, clean and had a lovely view over the pool and sea. The gardens were well tended and had a profusion of Roses, bougonvillia, honeysuckle and trees which attracted lots of birds. The food in the restaurant was plentiful, varied and well cooked. Service was on occasion slow, however we put that down to pace of life!. The Hotel has lots and lots of steps,or steep slopes, so is not for the less mobile. We were all inclusive and thought the hotel was good value for money and was worthy of the A rating.
Amazing Hotel
When we arrived after reading a very bad review we were terrified of what we were going to find!!! What we found was a small - yet professionally run hotel. We had upgraded to a Suite and it was huge and we had a jaccuzi bath which was meticulously clean!!. The view from our balcony was better than any view from other hotels in Skala. We had a sea view with pituresque mountains in the background. The pool was beuatiful with plenty of beds (all brand new) to go around. We did only stop B&B and this is the only all inclusive hotel on the whole island, other guests said that the food was a bit repetative - but fresh and very tasty. Breakfast was lovely - pancackes - cereal and of course cooked breakfast. Compared to other hotels on the island this is definaltely a 4 star hotel.
Very Disappointed
The website for this hotel is very misleading, we were expecting a Grade A hotel but were very disappointed, I would describe it as a 2 star + hotel. The first room we were given had a very musty smell and was dark and damp - all this for £165 per night. We eventually got a suite which was only slightly better, a few short and curleys left in the bathroom from the previous guests (needless to say the standard of cleaning wasn't great). The pool area is nice and has a great view but they only have 30 sunbeds for a hotel with 73 rooms! I was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
