" As we were being moved to this hotel... "

As we were being moved to this hotel as our origional holiday had been canceled due to a lost contract we were very unsure as to what to expect, well what a fantastic holiday we had! No complaints what so ever. Accomadation, food, staff, entertainment, all 1st class, beautiful island! Entertainment staff went out of their way to please and provide for all ages throughout the day and night. resturant staff worked so hard to ensure a constant supply of fresh food.
As a party of 12 we arrived a couple of hours after dinner had closed, the kitchen staff had so kindly saved us all a 3 course meal to welcome us to the hotel, very very much appreciated!
Many holiday makers we met had been returning to Kefalonia Palace year after year, 1 couple had visited for 12 years!
We will certaintly be returning next year!!!!!!

We stayed here in Sept 2007 for our Wedding & Honeymoon.
The hotel was clean & friendly (except for one rude receptionist all the other staff were great!). The food was well varied and very fresh.
We had a problem as soon as we got there - the bathroom flooded with sewerage (my wedding dress was hanging up in there to steam, luckily I had left it in it's bag!!!) but they sent someone out within a couple of hours to fix it and the cleaners came straight in to clean & freshen the place up. We had a couple of other problems, but everything was sorted out very quickly.
The 'family room' we had was a small room with 3 single beds in it, so as you can imagine having a 2 year old with us was not fun! He woke up everytime we went the loo or made a drink - we spent most evenings on the balcony!!
We wouldn't recommend this hotel after the 2nd week of September as they start to close up (1st week in October is the last week of the season apparently). They removed alot of the sun beds & chairs etc... There were 2 weddings on when we were there, one was a Greek Wedding which didn't start until about 10pm and went on until about 4am (loud music, dancing etc...) so there were a few complaints as you can imagine!
This is an ideal hotel if you don't want nightlife or restuarants. There are 2 tavernas on the beach but then there is nothing else except in the town of Lixouri which is about 5 miles away! A long walk!!! A taxi journey to Lixuori was between 5 & 8 Euros each way. The ferry across to Argostoli was 4 euros for a car & about 1 euro & 70c each person (each way) on top of the car price!! We drove all the way round most days as there was 4 of us and it worked out cheaper in fuel than the cost of the ferry but the ferry took 25 mins and the car journey took 50mins to an hour (nice scenery when driving & taking the ferry!).
Besides the distance from our friends & relatives in Lassi and the lack of nearby entertainment / restaurants the place was very good. The beach was only about 50 metres away and was really quiet at that time of year.
I can imagine there being more entertainment on in the hotel in high season as not much happened whilst we were there (a couple of quizzes & a game of bingo).
The pool was nice & clean and there was a pool bar which wasn't too expensive.
We'd give it 8/10 for the food, 9/10 for cleanliness and 4/10 for location. 8/10 overall.

" Kefalonia has been the best holiday... "

Kefalonia has been the best holiday so far. I loved every minute of it.
The rooms were clean, the hotel staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel is situated approx. 5 minutes walk from Xi beach.
There are quite a lot of beach tavernas which you can go to during the day and if you really wanted to, you could go there in the evening as well.
During the afternoons, the hotel entertainment team put on 'pool games' for all ages. The activities included water-volleyball, races across the pool on surfboards and lots of other games. If you took part in the pool games, there was an opportunity to win a cocktail.
There were also activities out of the water too such as bowls, but if you are the sort of person who likes to have a relaxing holiday this is also the ideal place for you.
The weather in mid-summer is lovely and hot and you can sunbathe on the free deckchairs by the pool or you could head off to the beach.
In the evening, men had to wear trousers to dinner but after that, you can go back to the hotel room and change into something a lot cooler.
The evening entertainment was really good and I felt as if it involved everyone. They included a whole variety of things. In the early evening the hotel entertainers put on a mini disco for younger children to get involved too.
Some nights we had quizzes, on other nights it was karaoke and some evenings the hotel staff put a movie on a big screen outside for you to watch.
Kefalonia Palace Hotel was the best holiday I have ever had and I would definitely consider going there again.

Beautiful hotel, very clean, beach 5 mins away, staff brilliant and food brilliant! What more can I say! We are definitely going back this year.
We have been to many Greek islands and have always returned to Kefalonia, but Lixouri is the islands hidden secret. Good resort for couples who just want to chill and relax.

" We had a fab holiday at the Kefalonia... "

We had a fab holiday at the Kefalonia Palace. The hotel was lovely - our room was nice - a bit basic but what you expect in Greece really. Had a fridge, which was a Godsend. The hotel so went off at night controlled air conditioning. That was the only downside to the holiday.
The food was fantastic. A wonderful selection. Always have the same table. Men have to wear trousers in the evening but my husband used to go back to our room and change back into something cooler.
Kids club run in the evenings which was lovely as we could have time to ourselves.
The bar was far too warm if you couldn’t get out on the balcony but apparently in high season they sit you outside around the pool.
The pool was wonderful. The beach was lovely - only 5 mins walk away. 3 Tavernas on the beach. Not a busy beach.
Entertainment staff good. Hotel staff lovely.
Location - a bit out of the way - great if you want to hire a car or just stay put in the hotel - although could get taxi into Lixouri and the ferry over to Argostoli.
Suit a quieter holiday - no heavy duty nightlife. A place to enjoy and chill.
All in all, can’t recommend it enough. Would love to go back.

Accomodation was fairly basic but had all the features to make your stay comfortable. Good flat screen TV in the bedroom with BBC News, CNN, Eurosport and many others. Good sized balcony but bathroom was quite small.
Buffet food was very good with a large choice of dishes although food was sometimes a little on the cool side.
Had a programme of games throughout the day with live entertainment in the evening which was quite enjoyable.
The hotel is in a very quiet location with just a few beach tavernas down the road and this could be considered its main drawback. It would not be suitable for those wanting shops and other entertainment nearby. A car is essential so you can visit Lixouri and other parts of the island, but again because of its location you often have to catch a ferry to avoid a long drive around the gulf. There is a bus service into Lixouri but it was very infrequent and a little unreliable.
To sum up I would recommend this hotel to families with young children or to people wanting an away from it all holiday.
