Very nice relaxing place with amazing food!
from J0D3S
My friend & I stayed at the Golden Odyssey Hotel for the last week in June. We were only looking for a cheap break away to get some sun & relaxation so booked this all inclusive deal as it was a good price & the hotel had good reviews. I agree with the other reviews that say the room cleanliness is above average & the food is also superb. For a budget hotel The Golden Odyssey is really great. Most of the staff are friendly & the hotel has the basic facilities you need for a relaxing holiday. Entertainment was good considering they had to cater for 4 or 5 different nationalities! Food was amazing & we loved the free beer on tap all day! As some1 else said it's a shame they stop serving free booze at 11pm but it's fun to go into Kolymbia which is a short, pleasant walk away or get bus/taxi into Faliraki if you're feeling very lively! The hotel location is nice as it's in a quiet area where u can walk to shops or the beach & u can easily get bus to larger towns like Faliraki/Rhodes town/Lindos. Overall we had a brilliant stay & I would definitely recommend this hotel & I'd love to go back

Brilliant hotel, the Golden Odyssey. Everything is clean and the people are really friendly. the food takes some getting used to but is very nice. We stayed for two weeks and visited rhodes and Lindos. They are both worth the visit. the entertainment in the hotel is adequate, but the bar is not open late enough, closes at 11pm for free drinks then you have to pay. For a good night out go into Kolymbia, 20 minutes walk away. The bar Heaven is good with a very nice host. The down side are the mosquitos, they are virulent for two weeks in july, when we were there. overall we had a great holiday.
brilliant!!

my self (18) and my boyfriend (20) origionally booked to stay in Kos but due to overbooking the hotel we were sent to this hotel for a week. the first day we arrived at tea time and greeted by a rather akward receptionist who spoke little english who thankfully only worked one day a week. we were then sent to our room which was clean and allthough the air conditioning only came on in july, it was a lovely room to stay in. the rooms were in blocks of buildings which were lovely to walk around and they were cleaned to a high standard every day. the food was the best part of the holidya for myself, so much to choose form and nothing i ersonally didnt like! breakfast wasnt up to much but lunch and tea were amazing! drinks were brilliant, the all inclusive menu or drinks were wine and pop as well as cocktails and spiits such as malibu and vodka etc. no entertainment was provided untill july so there was not much to do in june on an evening. allthough you can hire cars and bikes for low prices form the hotel and explore. we hired a quad bike for 2 days and a night and we visited rhodes town, lindos and falaraki .. lindos beach is the most amazin beach ive ever visited golden sands and clear sea! overall we had an amazing holiday and would go back agin this year!
Amazing 2 weeks

Me and my Husband recently visited the Golden Odyssey hotel in Kolymbia. We arrived to friendly staff who were very welcoming. As this was our first holiday together, it was more than what we could have imagined; having already sat down and read some of the poor reviews of this resort. There was not a cloud in the sky for the whole two weeks. A mini bus would pick you up from the hotel at various times of the day and take you to the beach free of charge which we made good use of in the second week. There was no shade on the beach howevee, unless you paid for a sunbed. We walked the first time to the beach. It is about a good 20min walk and not that hard to find your way if u follow signs along the way. On the way you pass various pubs and bars and shops which dont really get lively until the night time. We would definitely reccommend Statues and Memories. The staff are very friendly and the drinks are really nice from cocktails to the local beers. Mithos. There are imports aswell. There is the choice to hire a quad bike to travel further and explore the island but we chose not to as this cost quite a lot. We got a taxi from the hotel a few times to Faliraki. This is the clubbing central of the island. It was amazing and wish we had gone more. We heard there are various other family orientated things to do here also such as a water park etc... Apart from that it was lovely just to relax by the pool. Extremely hot though and id advise you to be very careful as its easy to get burnt on your first few days as we did!! Every friday is kareoke if im correct. It is good fun at the hotel as lots of different nationalities are welcomed up to sing. Not all of them you would want to listen to for long though! Food was amazing. Breakfast not worth getting up for to be honest so we just layed in. Lunch and dinner was perfect though. A lot of pasta and meat. Greek night was one night a week at the hotel and was really good fun. You can get up and dance if you wish and traditional greek food is set out for you to eat. I would love to return if i was the type of person to revisit the same hotel but im not as i like to explore different countries and not the same one. We have memories that we will never forget and to be honest i was shoked at any faults people may have found with it. I think they were just being fussy. It is not true that the bar tenders would be stingy over drinks because we were able to get acoholic/non-alcohol drinks whenever we wanted up until 11 i think it was. We went on an organised cruise also. On a small boat visiting nearby beaches and stop offs were involved to a secluded beach. It was unforgettable. You can jump off the boat and we reccommend you take a snorkel. Overall i couldnt really find a good enough fault to not strongly reccommend this holiday to anyone. Hope u enjoy your time there. relaxing at Golden Odyssey

We have just had a superb week's holiday at the Golden Odyssey. We have never been all inclusive before and were quite apprehensive. We need not have been. The quality of the food and drinks was excellent and the value for money impressive. The standards both in the rooms and the grounds/pool/restaurants were first class. Sheets and towels changed daily, gardens beautifully managed and kept and friendly helpful staff - particularly in the bar and restaurants. we were lucky to be in one of the new rooms (141) recently completed over the bar area and the size and quality of the room and fittings was very very good. The choice of food available at all meals was very impressive and a separate menu was available exclusively for children each evening. In addition, the presence of a Rodos Car Hire rep in the foyer each day meant that hiring a car at very reasonable rates could not have been simpler. We were also able to extend the booking of our room until the time we needed to depart for the airport (11p.m. Ugh) which made life so very much easier for us and meant we could enjoy completely the full last day, have a relaxing meal, and be refreshed and ready for departure . The hotel provided a complimentary bus service into Kolimbia and the beach and was set in exceptionally pretty grounds with great views of the mountains ( a slight side view of the sea from our room) and was very quiet and safe. (safe keys available for 20e per week ) All in all to be thoroughly recommended.
Brilliant!!!

We got to Golden Odyssey on 18th July 07 staying there for 2 weeksd on an all inclusive. We were met at reception in the early hours of the mornining with a smile. We were escorted to a huge room with air conditioning and a kitchen if we wanted to use it and a bathroom. It was all nice and clean. The food was very nice with variety and the free drinks were local, however, plentiful. It is a family run hotel so it has that personalised feeling. The beaches are nearby with a hotel mini bus that transfers residents to and from the beach. Kolymbia is within walking distance with bars, shops and clubs. There is entertainment at the hotel that gets all the holiday makers joining in and it's a lot of fun! The people at the bar, Litsa, Mixalis and the golden voice of Nicos! (Opah) were always friendly, courteous and eager to please. We have stayed in quite a few hotels as far as the Dominican Republic, so have had varying experiences. Golden Odyssey was great. I would certainly go back there again. Thank-you to all the staff for making it a great stay. Zoe, George and Andrew.
Typicaly Greek Hotel, Relaxed atmosphere and value for money
from redpoppyOxon
Just returned from a week at the Golden Odyssey which is Set in well kept gardens. We found the Hotel very clean and tidy Rooms spotless .cleaned daily. towels changed daily. extra pillows given on request and beds low but comfortable. The hotel is situated a little far out of resort (about 15 mins walk)but pleasant walk into centre which is quite small a few bars, restaurants and shops but fairly quiet - no taxis available from centre so a dark walk home at night. Hotel well situated for local bus service to Rhodes/Lindos which is cheap and frequent. free bus to kolimbia beach which is lovely Picked up late and paid very little for all inclusive. Breakfast fine, lunch and dinner could be repetitive but - we ate in local restaurants very very cheaply. most drinks included - even metaxa and cocktails! Not an average All inclusiveI hotel, does not cater for families/people who look for entertainment and activities day and night however pleasant and very laid back atmosphere - 'Greek Night' and karaoke very entertaining. All staff tried to be helpful to us. Pool very clean but could be slippy around edge. No fight for a sunbed! Overall a typicaly Greek Hotel - worth a visit if you want a quiet week away from it all.
One to be avoided

This hotel is classed as A. I think the "A" stands for Awful. Let start with the good points our room was spotless the bed linen and towels were changed everyday. Now the bad points, the food was always cold, leftovers were served at the next meal mixed with mayo or yoghurt and vegetables, breakfast was eggs boiled, fried or scrambled which had the consistancy of rubber. 1 day greasy fatty bacon almost raw, next day frankfurters, next day sausages that to be fair were not too bad but like everything else everything was cold. Lunch and Evening meal you did not know what you were eating as there were no labels or signs to inform you what was in the food trays. Again everything was cold. The hotel owners or echelon had breakfast in the resaurant and got waiter service and reserved seats, for everyone else, grab a seat and fetch your own food. The beer fountain, wine taps and fruit juices worked every now and then both in the bar and the restaurant. The barman, Nicko, was the most ignorant bad mannered person I have ever known he would walk away when people were waiting to be served, he would question who the drinks were for and at 11pm at night no matter how many people were queuing at the bar or how long they had been stood waiting to be serve he stopped serving All-Inclusive drinks, one guest had been in the queue for almost 15 mins and when he finaly got to be served he asked for two drinks, one for himself and one for his wife but as the magic hour of 11pm arrived only one drink had been poured so he was told he would have to pay for the second one!!! All the guests were of the opinion that the drinks that were served were watered down. You could sit all day drinking and you only felt you had been on fruit juice. A packed lunch consisted of 1 stale roll (no Butter )1 thin slice of ham and the same of cheese left over from breakfast a hard boiled egg an orange and some rock hard bicuits. No water or any kind of fluids. The day we left the 4th October 2006 a row of tiles fell off the top of the swimming pool which must have been the coldest in Rhodes ( Free sunlight but no heat exchangers to take the chill off the water ) the sea was warm compared to the pool. Air conditioning was not on as advertised in the brochure, all we had was a wet floor from the dripping air conditioning pipes but no air conditioning. You got woken up every morning by the pool fountain at 06.15 then at 06.30 the sprinkerlers came on. The walls between the apartments were so thin you could hear every thing going on next door the patio doors were single glazed and did not keep any noise out. It was possible to hear every word spoken by the people adjacent plus all the other noises, snoring, chair scrapping along the floor, showerings toilet flushing....not a place for peace and quiet. The seats in the bar area and patio area by the bar are all plastic coated seating...not the chairs to sit in when hot..you either stick to them or when you get up you are soaked where you have been sitting. We did ask if the air conditioning could be turned on but were told it was too humid!! The only good thing that can be said about this hotel is that the cleaners and restaurant staff were superb. Would I recommend this hotel only if I hated the person. Be warned if you want a good holiday give the Odyssey Hotel in Kolymbia a miss

Where do I start!

I have never done a review before but I have to let everone else know about this hotel. We have just returned from our long awaited holiday to the Golden Odyssey, Rhodes and are glad to be home! The hotel was clean and the food was good and thats really all we could say that was good there. No daytime entertainment at the pool so kids were bored quite quickly! When there was entertainment at night loads of tables and seats were reserved - for family and friends of the owners! And they received table waiter service. We had to queue for 15-30 minutes each night for a drink! If you wanted to get more drinks to save you going up and standing for so long, my husband went up first and then i went up a couple of people behind him! Not allowed more two drinks at a time! One barman (who loved the power trip!) and a hotel full of all inclusive holidaymakers! No entertainment in the evening and we would walk into the village of Kolymbia. In the description of the hotel it said only a 5 minute walk - 15 minutes in reality! The pool bar was non operational! You had to use the lounge bar at all times so even having to queue through the day for a drink. And only snacks available was the leftovers from breakfast and lunch - which was mostly cake! The self help drinks were only available for one day and that happened to be the day that photos were being taken for next year brochures! Air conditioning - on a timer - 2pm till 6pm (when we were not in our room!) and 10.30pm till 6am - sun blazing into our room first thing! And not the best of air con either! We made the most of a bad thing so all wasn't lost but you have been warned! We shall not be returning again!
