" Fantastic island, obnoxious owners "
Submitted By: lacolitaThe hotel itself was run by the most arrogant, obnoxious, rude family...who payed no attention to the English customers, even when one child slipped and badly injured her wrist. It was embarrassing to watch as they treated their staff as slaves, by clicking fingers, jangling rosary beads...and even having the shear ordasity to get their paying customers moved from behind them whilst watching the Tuesday night traditional Greek entertainment. Never have we been so appalled in all of our lives at the way in which people were treated. All I can say is that the staff need a huge backbone to carry on working for the owners.
We paid 2000 pounds for our holiday, which I can honestly say makes me feel sick to the stomach after experiencing what we did....I cannot believe that Olympic actually endorse such a hotel and at such a high standard and can only hope that this hotel comes under severe scrutiny from yourselves. There was complete misrepresentation on your website as we had assumed from that the hotel would be pleasant, and expecting a superior room in a 4* hotel would be substantially better than what we actually got.
I asked for us to change hotel to one of a higher standard but was told unfortunately that there wasn\'t any available for the 2 weeks we were there, so we have to endure 2 weeks in that place. Suffice to say we will not be recommending that hotel to anyone..... Toto, Annie and Ahmed you are true treasures to that hotel......
Advice: Lovely quiet village worth a visit
Activities: Lindos, Prasonisi and Rhodes town
Good for: Beach
" Fantastic "
Submitted By: coltonsThere is a free minibus from the hotel to the beach, or you take the walk into town to the other part of the beach. The walk is about 25 minutes. There is a bus stop outside the hotel, and you can visit Lindos and also Rhodes old town. We found both places really nice.
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: Mr AJ GilfoyleRoom was basic but spacious; TV with a few English Channels, 2 double beds and a hand held shower and bath. Shutters to windows, which kept out light, Wall to adjacent room was very thin and noise from neighbours could be heard easily.
Swimming pool nice and clean, not brilliant but ok. Daytime entertainments was either pool aerobics or water polo, sun lounges were plentiful and were acceptable.
Food for lunch served at 12.30, didn’t try the breakfast, and was chips, rice and some meat with a selection on salads and cheeses etc. to cater for the other nationalities.
Soft Drinks were out of a self-vending unit, alcohol served by a very pleasant girl during the day and 2 boys in the evening, the dark haired one was very stern and not talkative.
Evening entertainments was bingo, dancing or quiz, the guys (animation Team) who did the daytime and evening entertainment were the same guys and were very pleasant and energetic. - If you like that sort of thing.
The overall impression was good, food hall was good, rooms were good and location was good but in a very quiet spot.

Submitted By: Mr O ParryAfter travelling for 12 hours we eventually arrived at the hotel at 4.30 am and just wanted to fall into bed. We were shown to our room (room 702) by an uncommunicative night porter and were immediately shocked by how tatty and uninviting it looked. We then found that the air conditioning didn’t work (it was over 80 degrees), there was only HOT water coming out of all taps in the bathroom and the toilet cistern. The furniture was old and mismatched including two rusty chairs from the outside bar area and there was no headboard so the bed was about 6 inches out from the wall. The main door to the room did not lock securely which was worrying. To cap it all, after getting into bed at 5.00 am we opened the shutters to try and get some air into the room and a group of Germans came along and sat and chatted on the patio area just outside.
We then decided to pack up our things and find another room/hotel if necessary. The night porter was unhelpful and told us we would have to wait for the receptionist to come on duty at 7.00 am. We waited in the reception area for 2 hours, which at least was air conditioned but when we asked if there was anywhere we could get a drink of water we were told categorically no. We were eventually given another room when the day receptionist came on duty. Neither the porter nor the receptionist seemed surprised that we insisted on changing rooms and offered no apology.
The garden room we were then allocated was basic but clean. One of the electric sockets was hanging off the wall so we had to unplug the fridge and tv every time we wanted to use a hairdryer.
We did like the resort of Kolymbia as it was quiet but probably this was about to change as a great deal of building work was taking place. The two beaches were excellent and we spent 5 out of our 7 days there, partly to escape the loud music at the hotel pool which was not conducive to a relaxing holiday. We therefore did not take full advantage of the all inclusive lunch and drinks during the day. There was absolutely no pressure on sun beds and the only hotel we have ever stayed at where the sun beds were not reserved by towels being placed on them.
We agree with previous reviewers about the rudeness of staff, with the exception of two of the bar staff and two waitresses who actually smiled and chatted to us even though their English was limited. Overall we would describe the staff’s attitude as indifferent. There was also a distinct lack of information about the hotel, no information packs in the room, and we were not given details of meal times, checking out times or hotel facilities available by the reception staff.
There were many young couples staying at the hotel and this is maybe the clientele the hotel is trying to attract. We are in our 50s and have always stayed in 4 star hotels but this definitely cannot be classed as such – more like 2 star plus. The food was edible but lacked variety, especially the breakfasts and salads and desserts in the evening. We also did not like the fact that there were no non-smoking areas even in the dining room. This is also the only hotel we have ever stayed in where there was no formal dress code in the evening such as long trousers for men.
Overall we did have an enjoyable holiday in Rhodes despite the G.O. The highlights of the holiday were a trip to Rhodes town and relaxing on the nice beaches. We would like to return to Kolymbia again in future, but definitely not to the Golden Odyssey.

Submitted By: Mrs J WestonThe food was excellent could not see how anyone can complain not unless they want burger and chips every day! there was always plenty of choice and the food was fresh.
The entertainment team worked very hard and they were real fun!
this is the first ever hotel that i have bstayed at with such a fabulous mixture of nationalities! english, french, italian, dutch, swedish, german, spanish and lots og Greek.... but everyone was extermely friendly.
I agree the bar staff could have been freindlier,,,,, the evening staff were okish but the day staff were just plain miserable!
all in all a good hol for families, couples and singles, would return.

Accommodation was very basic but adequate. Very clean with a nice balcony. Hey! We only used it to sleep in & get dressed. Food was great! Good variety & very tasty. Loved the salads! We both put on weight during our stay!! (some Brits did moan about the food, but I can't understand why. Burger 'n' chips brigade I assume.) Pool was nice with plenty of sunbeds available. You could just help yourself to beer as there was a tap next to the bar for customer use. (great idea!)All inc drinks were Ouzo, brandy, gin, vodka, wine & beer, & some cocktails. What I did find odd was that no diet drinks were available on all inc. But we were annoyed that the bar shut prompt at 23:00 each night without warning!
Staff were friendly enough, especially if you made the effort to show interest in learning a few Greek words.
Beach was a short stroll away (although the wife described it as a long walk!) taking you past a lot of shops, making the walk more interesting. The beach itself is not that great. You can also get to the beach using a back road taking you past olive groves & many fruit trees.
Visiting Rhodes town & Lindos is a must! The bus stops right outside the hotel & costs 3 Euros. But remember to tell the driver when you want to get off as he'll just drive on past the hotel!
All in all, we found the hotel to be a nice place just to chill & relax & get away. It is definitly not a 4 star hotel, (more like 3) but very nice just the same, & very clean.
If you're after a wild time this place is not for you. If you want somewhere to relax & put your feet up in the sun (with cold beer on tap) & enjoy a sociable evening making new friends & watching the entertainment, then this ia a good place to come.
Advice: Quiet, with some nice walks. Seems to be an "up & coming" area.
Activities: Lindos and Rhodes Town are a must!
