Savoy Hotel

We stayed at the Savoy in Funchal for 2 weeks in August and it was fantastic. We we're upgraded and our room was amazing. The hotel itself is perfectly clean and breath taking. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful and being able to use the facilities of the Royal Savoy was great too. Their pool area was slightly better, but if you're after a traditional hotel the Savoy is ideal.
Funchal itself has everything you need, but make sure you visit the small ally ways and path ways as the better restaurants and bars are often hidden. It's not as cheap as the rest of the med but the food is better and well worth the extra. I would recommend visiting the market and doing the toboggan ride. The lavada walk was interesting but much more difficult than i thought and take a jacket as it's cold on the mountains.
Overall the weather was good, we had a few showers but nothing major and the temperature was just right.
