I spent 10 days in Cork, Ireland for an annual holiday.
The first thing was to book some low cost place to stay. I was unsure at first in booking a youth Hostel as I had heard in general bad reports about them.
The first thing that I noticed was the very friendly people, who were helpful in everyway.
As soon as I walked in the reception made me feel very welcome. They will ask you if you have a car with you, and will show you the car park facilities which are excellent with a gate that at night is locked to reassure the cars are safe.
In general, the hostel hosts Very clean, tidy and respectable rooms, facilities and bar.
There are security camera's in place to make the place is secured to the max, which is so important when you are in a foreign place on holiday.
The Overall service was great for the value of money.
The standards were excellent compared to other Youth Hostels, and was a nice place to return to after visiting the beautiful surrounding areas of Cork.

On arrival I was given my card for a room at the top of the hostel which did not work. So after climbing the stairs with bags etc I had to go back down for the receptionist to laugh at the fact it did not work before giving me a new one. Once in the room it was nothing but dirty. The shower tray was brown and the bedsheets looked like they were very old, worn and generally unclean. Add to the fact this must be the smallest bed I have ever experienced in a hostel it made my time there a bad experience. I woke to find people under blankets in the bar area and staff that were generally rude.
Overall this was a terrible place to stay and with the vast amount of other hostels in Cork I would strongly recommend somewhere else.
Happy travels
