Great hotel, great taste. Combines very good decoration and living conditions with a wonderful view,

Although this hotel is in a good position and towels and bed linen changed regularly, this hotel should be rated a three star. The staff were pleasant but there were certainly problems with the lifts. For such a large hotel the fact that there are only 3 lifts is ridiculous. On the day we left we had to wait fifteen minutes before we managed to get a lift and then it was only after complaining to reception. Hotel staff very friendly and accommodating, lift gave problems, buffet meals could have been better presented but food was very good. The outdoor pool was closed during our stay which presented a problem - so check when booking. also the courtesey bus to town only operates on weekdays - as a result you will definately need a taxi back - cost on average 4 euros.

We stayed here on the 1st March 2006. A Stiff walk back from town,take a taxi [4Euros] if you don't do hills.It is a good location overlooking Funchal and the harbour,try and get a sea view though. The room was cleaned and freshly laundered every day. The staff were friendly and obliging . However, we had half board. It was a dissapointment to say the least.
