Having been to Turkey many times I have a very good idea of the standard of accomodation you can expect. This hotel has six cellar rooms that have been renamed by guests with good reason as the dungeons. Almost every British guest (seemed to be only the British) we saw had been made to endure a few days in these rooms before being moved (only after a lot of complaining) to an upper floor room that actually meets the description in the brochure. These cellar rooms are filthy, they smell foisty and the bathrooms are covered in mould. Most of the furniture is broken and damp, the air con units leak over the beds and you are on full show to passers by on the main road outside. We reported the broken toilet in our dungeon but it still had not been repaired by the time we escaped to our upper floor room. These rooms do not even meet the minimum standard described in the Thomas Cook literature, all rooms are meant to have a hairdryer, sorry these rooms do not even have this basic amenity. There are also lots of bare live wires in these rooms, including in the bathrooms! I could go on and on about the state of these rooms, in summary they are not fit for human habitation (I have photographic evidence of all the faults and dangers apparent in these rooms), and any reputable travel company that allows its customers to be placed in them should be ashamed of itself.
The staff in this hotel speak very rarely to guests, and at times are extremely rude. After a long delayed flight it is not pleasant to have the reception staff laugh in your partners face when she states that she does not want a cellar room (even after requesting an upper floor room when booking). The staff were overheard saying to the Thomas Cook rep that the British never stopped moaning, not surprising when only the British seem to have to endure the dungeons. We never seen any management during the whole fortnight, we actually thought the man who ran the Turkish Bath was in charge of the hotel as he was the only one making any effort to speak, until the last day when he said he was moving to a better hotel for next season. We felt sorry for parents as no staff interacted with their children and all inflatable pool toys seemed to disappear on a daily basis. During the day music is only played when someone purchases a drink in the bar, the rest of the time there is complete silence, all the kids we talked to were completely bored and wanting to go home.
Food is plentiful and varied and we where very pleased with this aspect of the hotel. The only point I noticed is that no soft drinks or hot drinks are provided at evening meal times, unless purchased from the bar, I would have expected some kind of drink to be included with the meal even if it was just water.
Most annoying is how easy it would be to put this hotel back on track and markedly improve its reviews. The cellar rooms that have rightly upset so many visitors need to be taken out of commission, or reputable companies need to insist their customers are not placed in them. The management need to supervise their staff and remind them that it is the guests who provide the income that pays their wages. With these problems sorted the hotels reviews would improve greatly and it would not be such a dark stain on travel companies reputations.
I always thought Thomas Cook was a reputable company but from this experience all I can summise is that they have allowed their standards to drop markedly. I have travelled with Goldtrail many times in 2 star accomodation that far surpassed this hotel. This is the first time I have complained about any aspect of my holidays in Turkey, Gumbet is a very nice resort, please do not let me put you off visiting, but please do not spoil your holiday by staying in this so called hotel. I am afraid I also would not recommend Thomas Cook as your travel agency, if this hotel is typical of the companies they deal with. 2 days of our holiday were lost stuck in a stinking dungeon with no offer of any recompense in any form for the destruction of part of the holiday we had saved for all year.

After reading some of the reviews, I prepared myself for the worst. However when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the hotel was and how friendly the staff were. At meal times there was not a wide variety, and the food was not what you would normally eat in the UK, but going to a foreign country I think this is what you should expect, but it was still nice. The pool area was very clean and was lovely to go and cool down in also the outside of the hotel was decorated with flowers that looked really nice. Inside, the rooms are very clean and each had air conditioning and they are cleaned everyday along with fresh towels everyday.
I really really enjoyed my stay at the Bronze Hotel and I would certainly go again!!!

just recently returned from a week holiday at the bronze hotel in gumbet in turkey. well what can i say..
Firstly I found the bathrooms and tiolets to be quite dirty. Black mould in places and toilets looked like they hadnt seen bleach all summer.
Secondly the food was unacceptable. Meaning they didnt cater for the full two hours sitting that was stated, operating on a system of when its gone, its gone. Also the Turkish and vegetarian options that was advertised was non existant, as i feel salad is a side dish not a main option.(one night i had a few cold chips and some cold spaghetti without any sauce for my main course).
And finally insufficient hot water. My partner and i went without hot water for two days.
We werent the only ones who had the exact same problems as us.Numerous other guests experienced these difficulties too.
But on a happier note we found that the staff were friendly enough and courtious at all times.
Other than the problems at the hotel we had a lovely time in Turkey and would consider going back there, but to a different resort.

Got back from a 12 day holiday at Gumbet whilst staying at Hotel Bronze.
I have to say that was one of the best holidays i've had in a long time!
We arrived in the early hours of thursday morning and the staff at reception were very helpful!
They sorted out our rooms and showed us where things were, then they left us to sort everything out, as we had arrived we decided we may aswell go for breakfast which is served from 8am - 10am this consists of a variety of food, you can have different jams, bread, eggs, sausage, cereal, meat, toast and to drink you can have tea, coffee, juice, milk etc all of it is fresh and really nice and it fills you up quite well.
All of the staff are very polite and really nice, they talk to you, say good morning, there was never a time when they were rude.
Mr Vudi the hotel manager was very friendly and got on well with my dad who he called Mr Ken.
The food in the pool bar is also extremely nice and not over priced, the staff there are also really nice.
The evening meals were extremly delicious, we were there for 12 days and not once was there a repeat meal!
Every meal was really nice, it was fresh and the meat was real meat, nothing fake or fatty, all delicious. The Chef and the Co Chef were really nice to and always really friendly, i always looked forward to the evening meal and even on our last day i made my family have the last meal there because i didn't want to miss it.
The rooms are really nice and they come with a tv, fridge, phone, bottle opener, ash tray, air con and mirror and plug sockets (but you need your own adapter) the bathroom is nice it's a tiled floor and has a shower, sink, and toilet.
The rooms are cleaned EVERY DAY without fail, the cleaning staff are really friendly and if you are still asleep when they come to clean then they leave and come back later which is really good.
The bed sheets are changed on alternate days but towels are changed every day.
Overall this holiday was amazing
and i really didn't want to leave
It's my first day back in England and i miss it already :(
i would love to go back next year, infact i might just do that!
I really do reccomend you go to this place
It's situated near the beach so it's not a far walk either.
Had a lovely time
Thanks to everyone at hotel bronze!

Having read the comments below I felt the need to make my own because I 100% completely disagree!!
This hotel is not at all bad! I REALLY ENJOYED my stay there and I will definately be returning there again! The reception staffs english is not best but when you're going to another country it is rather rude if you expect them to be fluent!! The rest of the staff are very polite and helpful including one guy ahmed, Who carries your case up to your room for you and makes sure everything is working before he leaves which is a great help although he does not speak english he does his job well!
The rooms are lovely compared to what I was expecting after reading other peoples reviews, They are really clean, Cleaners visit everyday and give you new towels and clean bedding and if you are still in bed when they come they will go away and come back later no bother. ALL rooms have a pool view too.
The Pool area is lovely. It does look bigger on pictures so an initial reaction when seeing it was slightly dissapointing but it is fine because the pool area is never too busy. We managed to get a sunbed everyday and whilst we were there there werent many children, not too many young people (bare in mind in only 20 myself) so there was no disturbance whilst trying to relax around the pool. They do play loud music but it is varied music ranging from R&B to dance and reggae and all the oldies too so it wasnt a problem because there was always something you enjoyed listening to.
I recommend having a Turkish Bath on your first day as they do them there at the hotel themselves and when you come out you feel so refreshed. Me and my friend had a turkish bath, 40 minute massage and a facial for 50 Lira which is £25!! Absolute Bargain!!
The food is not best and that is the hotels only downfall! It is a small selection of random foods and not very filling but as half board was only approx £3 more than self catering we thought it worth while going half board incase we didnt fancy eating out and to be honest we did eat at the hotel 5 nights a week. It isnt bon appetite but it is free food and we didnt pay alot so we couldnt really complain!!
I never got up early enough to try breakfast which is between 8-10am but my friend did and she said it was good.
Gumbet itself is a very nice place. I never went out there in the day as we stayed around the pool but when walking past the shops you do get alot of hassle from people but all you do is be polite and say no and they leave you alone. At night times if you want to relax or feel too old for the party scene I recommend going to the beach area as there is entertainment down there and if you want to eat out there are some gorgeous restaurants. For lively entertainment I recommend going to the magnific on the beach front.
If you are young and like the party scene then I definately recommend Bar Street, They have some excellent bars each with unique and very friendly staff!! I have been to Ibiza and wanted to return.. I have gone to Turkey and I am definately going to return!!!
Currency - My friend went to Turkey last year and everything was in Lira, This year I have gone over and they are accepting everything!! I recommend you take half lira and half sterling as most things are cheaper in sterling.
I also went on a boat trip with the company tweety pie their rep calls himself Peter Pan, He is very very very funny and the boat trip was extremely enjoyable! I paid £12 for a boat trip which stopped off at 5 places including a trip to the caves, camel beach, aquamarine for snorkling and a large drop where u can jump into the sea if you want to . It lasted from 10am until 6pm and included a lovely pasta lunch!!!
All in all I will be returning to Turkey and would definately consider staying at the bronze hotel again! Take in consideration that these reviews are made by people with very different personalities and different expectations so dont read things into too much detail as you will most likely find your own opinion is different anyway!

My Partner & I enjoyed out 2 week stay at the Bronze hotel in May 2007. We though the staff were very friendly and we got on with them really well.
When we first arrived we weren't too sure what to expect, but we loved it, so much so that we are going back this year with a larger party.
We are very much looking forward to our holiday this year!! We didn't have any complaints what so ever, I hope our holiday this year will be just as good!

Having just arrived back home from a two week stay at the Hotel Bronze. We didn't pay for the Ritz and didn't expect it, but either previous correspondent’s standards are lower than ours or the hotel has changed since last year!
The staff were most unhelpful, couldn't understand what you were asking - especially reception staff -, the standard of cleanliness was appalling and food inedible particularly at night, the list is endless.
Result? Six unhappy punters who will definitely NOT be returning.

Hotel not bad kept clean in reception but that did not continue to the bedrooms as they were not cleaned while we were there. Very noisy at night due to staff shouting at each other nearly all night long. Food was very limited and not suitable (most guests ate out every night me included). Breakfast was the same every morning i.e. scrambled egg, hard boiled egg and some kind of sausage.
Staff were very ignorant and gave no help to guests when needed.
Hotel location is good (near beach) but this does not make up for poor quality of the hotel, reminded me of ELS BELLES from the film carry on abroad.
Would not recommend hotel to anyone, pay more and get a better hotel its worth it.

After recently returning for our trip to Gumbet, my partner and I couldn’t wait to post our review of the Bronze Hotel.
The hotel appears to look like a bit of a dive from the outside but when you actually get in, it is not so bad, all clean, and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful.
I feel that I have to echo the comment of another review posted about the noise. It doesn't help you to relax so this place is not great for families.
Gumbet was a bit too loud for us so we wound not visit again but we would recommend to a young couple as an alternative to Ibiza.

We have just returned from two glorious weeks spent at the bronze, a well located hotel in Gumbet.
We were so impressed that I felt that it was only right to share my thoughts with anyone else, who may be thinking of taking the same holiday.
The hotel is exceptionally clean, linen change every 2 days and towels every day, if you ask the lovely cleaning lady though, she will change linen whenever you ask. All the staff are so helpful and when they are not serving or entertaining you, they are continuously cleaning.
The rooms are a little small but, hey, you only use them to change and sleep (we had 2 adults and 2 kids and we managed. the food was more than acceptable (barbeque night being the best) 24hours reception sauna and massages in the cellars.
The resort of Gumbet, if this is your first time as it was ours, it can be a shock to the system. It is not by any means a serene, quiet place. We have a 2 year old and were a little concerned that he would get no sleep. not to worry you will keep different hours because the bars are so accommodating for your kids --they know that if your kids are happy you will stay out a little longer. If you have kids I recommend the beach front bars, if you are younger and no kids to worry about, then BAR STREET will not disappoint you.
Don’t let their way of selling get to you, just a polite (I have eaten in the hotel or I will buy later is usually enough to calm the patter down), although the shop keepers are very persistent don’t let it put you off looking around. They may be persistent but they are very rarely rude, it is like a game to them and you must treat it the same.
I found that booking trips was much cheaper if you booked on the beach directly we used Tweenies for jet ski Para gliding and day trips, NEVER agree to the first price you are quoted they will ALWAYS drop the price if you threaten to go somewhere else, We got a day on a big open boat visiting 5 islands including camel beach and a lovely meal for 90 lira (30 quid) for 3 adults and a2 year old + a free sauna .It was a fantastic day.
Look out for PETER PAN who also looks like captain jack sparrow, a great character.
If you want to have a rest from the hassle, you can easily take a Dolmus (70p) to Bodrum and take in some history and a little more refinement.
All in all we would recommend _MY TRAVEL, HOTEL BRONZE and GUMBET it certainly was a great combination for me and my family.

We had an upper room with balcony (which was very small but did have a lovely view). We got there about 5am & reception staff were helpful & carried our bags for us.
Room was clean enough but the cleaners only came in every other day which was unpleasant with only a tiny open bin in the bathroom. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Air-con was efficient but noisey & to avoid the bar music you had to shut doors & sleep with it on (a case of choosing what noise to listen to all night).
We were half board & the food was very nice every day. The pool was clean & quite empty most of the time. Drinks at the pool bar were a good price but they mostly had only 3 CD's that kept repeating over & over (George Michael, Ronan Keating & Shaggy!!!) which got very annoying.
Good location for the beach, with a taxi point just outside & the dolmus busses can be flagged down outside for a cheap trip into Bodrum.
Overall: was ok but I wouldn't go back, especially since Gumbet itself is an 18-30's resort filled with burger bars, loud clubs, a tiny strip of beach crammed with sunbeds & there's no such thing as a quiet walk as every single shop & restaurant shouts at you to buy something from them.
