Excellent value

I was somewhat concerned after reading some of the other reviews about this hotel, however I was pleasantly suprised . . considering what we paid for our holiday it offers excellent value for your money. Our room was clean and tidy and we had a maid service everyday who even left flowers . We were allocated a room just by the pool and found the staff polite and willing to help We booked bed and breakfast which was the usual turkish breakfast of cold meats, boiled eggs, tomatoes, olives and cereals I quiet enjoyed it asit made a change from my usual breakfast. Also supplied melon. Their is a turkish bath on site and a mini gym and Jacuzzi .The gym is free however you obviously have to pay extra for the turkish bath massage and sauna. If you are on a limited budget or do not spend a great deal of time in your hotel then this would be a good choice. Also forgot to mention that the hotel provides a free minibus to the blue lagoon and brings you back to the hotel at about 5pm
love this place

Well just got back from a fantastic two weeks in Hisaronu near oludeniz and cannot speak highly enough of the location which i love and the hotel merriment. We have been to Hisaronu before and love it because it has its own charm and is central for sightseeing tours, which might i add you must book through Sehmi at Hotel Merriment or Hamish McTurk for the best tours. Hotel Merriment has recently changed management so although i had stayed there last year and had a great time we were a little wary. No worries the rooms were cleaned daily, bedlinenchanged regularly ands an abundance of clean towels as long as you remember to put dirty ones in the shower which tells the cleaner you want clean ones. Muzzy the head waiter and his staff cannot do enough to make sure you enjoy your meals and will help in any way they can keeping the restaurant well cleared, clean and tidy. Volcan and his staff look after the bar and are so friendly and helpful doing all they can to help you enjoy your stay. Ibrahim runs the Hotel with Sehmi as the entertainments manager and i must say they are putting more in place everyday to give you the ultimate holiday experience so that soon this will be a great place for a cheap price. We ate at some great restaurants but can recommend the Piano Bar, Rainbow indian restaurant, Cheers, Dragonara ,Delboys.and Hot Cafe Only had one dissapointing meal and tha twas at the Suntrap although very friendly food was very dry. But Hisaronu offers you such a wide choice of places to eat you could try a different one every night for a month and would still not have tried them all. For good alround fun entertainment and a real warm welcome and great drinks n cocktails visit the aloha bar. Tolga and Angel will make sure you have a great time. Finally thanks to Nikki Russell at A1 Travel for arranging the trip cannot wait to return later this year. Congratulations Merriment first rate.
Good value for money

We'd stayed here last year and were satisfied with the overall standard. This year was pretty much the same, rooms basic but clean. Pool was excellent, although they were waiting for cushions for some of the loungers, so there were not always enough to go around, unless you got up early to put your towel down. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel does not seem to have a defined customer base, therefore you will find a whole mix of people, families, singles etc, and as it's changing all the time you can find it's too busy one day and not busy enough the next. Good thing about Hisaronu though is that if you find a rugby club convention not to your style, you can use a nearby pool for the day, or go to the beach on a free bus, so don't feel you have to stay by your own pool. The resort has a good mix of bars and restaraunts, where you can eat either English or Turkish. My advice would be to sample the local cuisine as they really know how to cook and enjoy showing off their skills. The only time I've had a poor meal is when I've asked them to cook something 'English'. There's a lesson there. Do a boat trip, they can be booked at one of the travel agents in the main street, who will pick you up from your hotel and take you back at the end of the day. Don't pay for a walk on Butterfly Island. It costs 5lira and there's nothing to see.
the merriment

Have read some bad reveiws about this hotel. however when we arrived it had a complete new management team and it shows. Nothing was too much trouble the place was spotless food was brilliant. A lot of work was put into making sure that children are occupied lots of things for them to do. They had just finished an absolutely gorgeous Lounge area, great to get out of the sun or on the odd rainy day. The staff go out of thier way to be helpful without hanging over your shoulder. The rooms at the hotel are on the small side but have everything you need and are thoroughly cleaned by the cleaning staff, lovely ladies always smiling. The hotel staff organised tours, hire cars and activities for the kids. Just ask and if they dont do it they will find a man who can. The hotel is superbly situated the centre of Hisaronu being less than a couple of minutes down the road. Absolutely adored the staff cant wait to return in September, this hotel is really good value for money.
Basic but clean
from Hapihammer
Rooms are basic but absolutely spotless, cleaners arrange towels with flowers everyday. Not a very good choice for breakfast but adequate. Staff very friendly and pleasant except for English receptionist! Poole area lovely and extremely clean, some people did put their towels on the sun beds, however it was never too much of a problem. Excellent location for bars, shops and restaurants being literally a 2 minute walk, and we always felt perfectly safe. Hisaronu itself is very English with gift shops (can get a bit of hassle) and English pubs etc but there are some very good Turkish restaurants and jewellry is cheap!! All In all I would recommend this Hotel and resort, you can make it as lively or as quiet as you wish, there are plenty of excursions (go and see Hamish McTurK!) and make sure you take advantage of the Hotel's free taxi to the Blue Lagoon.
not the place to stay
from crazywomanSurrey
I have just returned from Hisoranu in Turkey after being recommended to resort by friends. On arrival at the hotel my friends had been asked to hand over their duty free goods and until they did this they were not given their key. I arrived the day after them and my friends text me to advise me to hide my drink. The hotel room was okay but it was not cleaned everyday and I had many a cold shower as there was not hot water. The breakfast was okay but the staff were more interested in flirting with the customers than making sure there were essentials like spoons and milk and coffee. My friends and I did not spend one penny at this hotel during the whole 12 nights stay . The english receptionist had the cheek to ask my friends if she could buy the alcohol that has been taken from them. I made a complaint to the Manager and he basically told me to pack my bags if I did not like it as he really didnt care about his customers. I personally have never been treated so badly by a hotel in my life and I have travelled to many places in the world. This holiday did not make me want to return to this resort!!!!!!!!!
Its Fun and friendly

Hotel Merriment is fun and friendley you wont get a better place to stay that is as friendly. The rooms are ok always cleaned and roses left on the bed, the pool is cleaned everynight the boys work hard 24/7 to make your holiday an enjoyment i dont see how any one can have a problem with it.
Hotel Merriment terrible!
from SHAZABelfast
Hotel Merriment a disaster. Its supposed to be a 3 star but god only knows how! The only + is the location - its 5 mins fropm the centre. My husband & I were bitterly disappointed. The staff were disinterested & unfriendly. Jane the receptionist barely took the time to even look at the guests never mind speak! Cleaning was a joke - we were there for a week & had to request our room to be cleaned! Dirty bed linen & crockery were piled up outside our door for days on end. We only had breakfast on our first day - the crockery was dirty & there was little choice. The hotel advertises an exchange service yet on the 2 occasions I tried to cash travellers cheques they had no lira! Hisaronu was a fantastic resort & we loved it but never again will we return to this hotel! Our parents stayed in Hotel Karbel in Olu Deniz & it was fantastic - really clean, friendly & great food!

we were a party of eight (3 adults and 5 children aged 8 to 15). we arrived at the hotel at 6.30am after travelling through the night, therefore all very exhausted in need of a shower and sleep. It was extremely hot when we arrived and all we wanted to do was be shown our rooms immediately on arrival. We had booked 2 family rooms fro 4 people in each room. I had the booking confirmation with me clearly stating 2 family rooms x 4 people and we were given 2 welcome packs at hotel reception (who could not speak any English) on arrival clearly showing 4 names on each pack. however, when we were led to our rooms by 2 turkish porters who also could not speak english. we were horrified to find that there were two single beds in each room. It seems they took allnew arrivals to those rooms first. We went back to reception to rectify the problem and were told we wouldhave to wait til 10am to see the manager. When 10am came we met the manager who was most unhelpful and told us that the rooms had been over-booked. They then took us back to rooms again and they had arranged extra mattresses which were on the balcany They were damp and dirty and there was not room for them anyway. Finally at 4.30pm they managed to find two rooms still with insufficient beds, so we demanded more beds which they finally arranged and there was adequate space for them. The rooms were not very clean but we had to accept them as there were no other hotels available with family rooms. 3 days later the shower room ceiling was leaking from the toilet in the room above. We reported it and were told it would be resolved the following day. we went out to the beach the next day, but when we returned it had not been sorted and never got sorted for the remainder of the hoilday. Therefore 8 of us got showered in one room. Apart from this, the staff were very ignorant, towels were changed once in the whole week, the food was awful and covered in ants...only thing edible was bread. no juice for kids no kids meals, we went to the pine valley hotel next door to get ice creams for kids as there were none at ours. we were told we could not pay cash for snacks The bill was added to our room number, however when we tried to settle the bills at reception, they were all wrong and some receipts had been signed for by other residents . Music also pumped out till 3 or even 4 am some days. this is not the hotel as advertised in brochures...there is no internet cafe, no heated indoor pool, no kids playground. The only nice thing is the swimming pool, although 2 of our party suffered ear infections on returning to England, maybe from the pool. We paid for half board, but ate out every evening as the food was awful, so we spent money that we should not have had to. definitely would not go anywhere near this hotel again. instead i would go to the Pine Valley next door, where the staff are lovely and friendly.
Stayed here for 2 weeks. Hotel was nice and clean. About a 5 minute walk from the village centre.
Room had a tv, beds were comfortable and shower got you clean.
Did not eat here but had a lovely afternoon tea. The staff were lovely and sometimes oraganised games to play.
