I went with my friend to Gumbet, I had been here 4 years ago with my kids, and as they were with their dad for the week, my friend and i decided to get away. we booked to stay at the Sami Beach, which is literally on the beach, the staff here are lovely and everyone everywhere are so friendly, i have to say that having stayed at the Sami Plaza 4 years before i was a tad disappointed in the accomodation, anyway, i took my friend to see the Sami Plaza where i had stayed before and we spent the day there by the pool, i got chatting to one of the staff who said we should ask to move as it was a sister hotel, so when we got back i did ask, I can only say that they could not have been more helpful, you would never get service like this in any other country, they told us to pack, someone got our cases and they got their own car and drove us there, nothing was too much of a problem, i am not saying the sami beach was a bad hotel, it is perfectly situated, am just saying that the sami Plaza was more suitable for me and my friend for a lovely quiet relaxing holiday.
There is always a down side, and i would say it was the buffet food (if you go half board) not bad food, just boring but edible and i enjoyed it for the first 3 days, after that i was bored, there is a chef to cook you eggs in the morning tho as well as cold buffet.

Advice: friendly, lovely people, small beach, if you are looking for a big beach this place is not for you.

Just come back from Sami Plaza. Really enjoyed this holiday. All the staff from the reception to the cleaners very helpful and friendly. Clean and tidy rooms, nice breakfast and excellent restaurant with lots of choice. There is also a great steak house next door to the hotel called The Colombia. The pool area is very good sometimes hard to get a sunbed get up early!!!!!. Booked for next year already!!!. see you then .
Advice: fun and lively or quiet and peaceful what ever you want

This was my second time in Gumbet and first for Sami Plaza. The rooms were nice and not what i expected. Rooms were cleaned daily (well if we were up in time!) The maid was very pleasent though she spoke very little english. The restaurant food was good. That is sorta where the OK finishes!
While the maid was very friendly the rest of the staff weren't. Most spoke very little english and trying to order a drink was hard work. I was in a party of 12 and getting a sunbed by the pool was almost impossible, in order to get a sunbed you will have to leave towels out first thing in the morning, but we did notice some just left their towels on the beds all night.
There were days where the maid would only leave one towel and to get more was hard work and at times the reception staff were unfriendly.
The location of Sami Plaza was excellent - close to cheap bars and bar street and excellent restaurants on the doorstep.
I wouldn't recommend Sami Plaza and nor would anyone in my party.
It was ok if all you need is somewhere to sleep!!

just back from gumbet,stayed at sami plaza.we were 5 girls staying for a week.the rooms were very spacious and had air con which was a bonus as it was so hot.the staff were fantastic as was the food.they really look after you there and were very friendly.we went to a pub called molly malones and couldnt get enough of the place!maggie is a perfect hostess and all her turkish boys working there work so hard and aim to please.very funny when the get up to dance,they certainly know how to entertain!cant wait to go back next year and i havnt got a bad word to say about the hotel or the resort.
Advice: a week isnt eniugh to do it all!

Ok firstly dont get me wrong the place is lovely, the location of the sami plaza is good als, BUT
1) Their laxidazical approach to fixing anything is terrible
2) Their choice of food is terrible
It is a nice place as well but believe me when i go to Turkey again [which i will do as Gumbet is nice!] then i will book 4 Star or above from now on.
Think they still have a good bit of catching up to do for the resort to be honest.
People are really friendly and the beach is good also.

Where can i start when we got there on 6/6/09 4:30 in the morning they was very freindly,The food was discosting and had nothing to cater 4 kids we had 3 children with 1 penshnear and a 5 adults the youngest child was living on bread all week even at morning the salad was not fresh becasue they was in the same place on plait,The pool was amazing.
The day the ret soor us was on the first day in samiplaza she said we have a sister hotel wicht is sami beacht wicht is only about 100 yards down the road cut the story sort!We got there and orderd the drinks that was fine up the part with the food every body else is food looked love the witres said off you go for you diner i opend the meun and then the man said NOOO you eat form here wicht was a littel line of soup bread salad off we went to get it was sat down by the tabla and stated 2 eat my husband sadi wht the hell are we doing here oh and a nothing thing the phoned samiplaza manager 2 cm down 2 tlk us because the ret said we allowed.
My oldes son had been ull her so had 2 have pillows we all went to order pillows we waited and waited the men in respsion said they will be with you in the minute wait a bit longer so we did no sign of pillows anywhere so used the blanked in the cuperd as pillows but wasnt the some was it!!
My daughter nd sister went 2 the rep and said cn we please have some pillows yes course you can ill send them down to you as soon asspossible thank you very much then we waited all day 4 some extra pillow.

I have just returned from the sami plaza hotel on the 15th may.It was a nice hotel.Staff were really friendly.The rooms were big.They need abit TLC.As they are abot dated.There is a frige in the room.Which is a good thing.As i took a travel kettel etc.The beds were really nice and firm.We ate alot there.Which we found cheap & nice.And the free sweet wine was to die for lol.I am going back in july 2009.Wish I waited until i cmae back before i booked.As I would have loved to go back to the sami plaza.There is a nice pub called the brothers.Had the best all english breakfast there.The boys that danced on the night were great and a pleasure to watch.And we did join it.Great time in all.

The Sami Plaza is ideally situated for all bars and shops.The pool area is great as is the food.Rooms are clean.Will probably stay here again if Igo back to Gümbet.Opposıte is a travel agency with a real English lady.We booked a great value for money boat trip and a 2 day tour to Epheseus and Pammukale with her.Queen travel is the name of the travel agency.

Just back form a week staying at the Sami Plaza in Gumbet, Had a fantastic time. The staff were lovely and friendly. Gino the bar man was a star getting our drinks and tennding to our every need.
Rooms were lovely and clean. If poss ask for one of the new rooms, nothing wrong with older ones (where we stayed) but they are just a little more modern.
Ideal place for familys and couples alike

This was my third year in a row staying here so as you can probably figure, I love it!
Everything about Gumbet and Turkey is brilliant, the people, the food, the beer, weather, things to see. I would go every year if I could but getting married this year so going somewhere else.
The Sami plaza is first class, good service, clean rooms, and nice pool.
Some rooms have seen better days, though you don’t go on holiday to sit in your room!
Gumbet has got bigger over the last few years but is still cheap as chips, I was getting a pint for under 50p so if anyone says it’s not as cheap as it used to be I would say 1 thing... inflation! Do we not see prices going up in the UK!
The Turkish people work very very hard and deserve to get a little extra for it.
All in all I would recommend everyone to go to Turkey at least once in life then you’ll be hooked.

We just returned from Gumbet. Sami Plaza hotel fab, location right in centre of all bars.
Great hol, fab people can’t do enough for you. We are both early 50s this was our 4th time to Gumbet, it has gone dearer but where hasn’t it.
5 mins walk from beach which stretches miles lovely walk all flat .our hotel was in middle of all bars shops restaurants.
40 mins from airport so when you’re tired you don’t really need to travel far. We will be booking to go back. Sami plaza great hotel good location. Will return.
