Where to start really?! Me and three girl friends have just returned from Turkey. We arrived in the early hours to find the fridge was hot as it hadn't been turned on, the aircon (only being in one room) made the heat unbearable but the main issue we had was the stench from... more

We've just got back from a 2 week stay in Turkey. We arrived at the Moonshine apartments at 3am in the morning having to look all over the place for someone that worked there. Eventually we found someone that said that he thought we were going to be a party of 4 children... more

We stayed as a pary of 3 myself and my 2 daughters. The appartments are adequate but the self catering facilties were poor. The walk to the main town was dangerous as there is a lot of blind corners on the roads. On a night we got a taxi for approx 5 lira which was safer than... more

We stayed in the Moonshine apartments in August 06. The accommodation was very sparse and the decor gaudy. Our apartment walls were shocking pink and lime green with an orange sofa bed. The kitchen area was inadequate, no toaster and just a single hot plate. Ours was a one... more

never again
my sister and i stayed with our daughters and initially we did find the hotel to be quite good. However, this soon changed when we had a few problems with the manager who we found trying his luck with our daughters, becoming agitated and nasty when he got know where similar problems to others
bloody great
we stayed at the moonshine and found the place lovely tahsin and his staff were great nothing too much trouble, yes the rooms were a bit colourful but that has been rectified, as we visited last year to say hello the rooms had been painted in a lovely beige colour, new flooring was next on the agenda also new fridges, were going back this year in may can't wait to chill out at the pool and just enjoy the peace and quiet.
Do not go there unless you are male
The rooms are very small and i found the bed very uncomfortable. For self catering the cooking factlities were awful we were luck there was only 2 of us but those with families would find it a strugle. I found the staff polite but even though i was with my husband the manager was very touchy feely with the women and got angry when he got nowhere. IF I WAS A WOMEN TRAVELLING ALONE OR WITH FEMALE FRIENDS I WOULD STAY CLEAR OF THE PLACE
home from home
This was our fourth visit to Turkey, working our way along all the different coasts, and I can definately say that the atmosphere in the moonshine apartments was the best ive ever experienced. The rooms are very small, but clean and well equipped. My family of four found it easy to cope for our fortnight, if you look at in the sense that its only a place to sleep and get washed. The best thing about the moonshine apartments is that there is only a small number of apartments, and so the number of people is a nice number, and you quickly get to know other people. After a few nights we used to return deliberately early to the hotel just to chat to the other people staying there. There is a pool table and a clean pool with childrens area. The food is reasonably priced, as is the beer. The staff are very friendly, and try to make ur holiday as enjoyable and relaxed as possible. I would definately return here in the future!
call that self catering????
The Moonshine apartments are used by travel companies for late bookings. The first impressions of the Moonshine apts are 'which idiot painted the walls those mad colours? 'Our apt. was shocking pink with a lime green and wild orange settee/sofa bed and navy curtains. Other rooms were lilac or green. But as a holiday maker who was leaving said to me 'you get used to it in a few days' and we did!! The apartments are not for those who like a slice of toast or bacon and egg for breakfast as the only cooking facility was a single plug-in hot plate and an electric kettle and a very large pan. Neither the kitchen sink or the bathroom sink had a plug and this seems to be a feature of all the Moonshine apartments... The balcony was for one person at a time to sit on. The air conditioning was £20 a week but well worth it as you can leave it on when you go out. The hairdryer is in the bathroom by the sink!!! The pool is all the same depth about 5 ft, but there is a kids pool which is about 2ft deep. But enough of the negatives, the staff are fantastic, Omar is mad and is very friendly with everyone. The atmosphere is very relaxed and Omar does a brilliant job of keeping everyone entertained. The apts are popular with the Dutch but becaues the place is so small people do mix and become friends. We enjoyed our two weeks and met some very nice people. The biggest problem was the road into Bodrum, it's about 500meters to Bodrum in a one way system and the traffic is horrendous the roads are only narrow lanes and the Turks are mad drivers. Most people we spoke to said they hated the journey especially those with prams and children.
The Perfect Spot
Hotel is small and friendly. Has a nice swimming poll with plenty of sunbeds. Apartments are spacious and well equipped. The pool bar serves 24 hours, and the staff is very helpful and friendly...
just like the Flash advert!
good location, good size apartment. you will needed to bring flash and rubber gloves to clean apartment especially the bathroom which was minging dirty brown toilet brush. i think the blue blanket gets changed once a year. if you dont mind rough'in it, its ok. newport s/wales
Loved the Moonshine Staff friendly
We went to Moonshine 29th Aug -12thSept Loved the appts staff very friendly and very helpful nothing was to much of a problem. We had our 2 disabled childeren with us and found that surrounding area a problem the roads to walk along are a nightmare but you do get used to it.We liked old Town Bodrum and Gumbert which we walked to alternate days about 40 mins to each. Good selection of restaurants and shopping. We have been to Mamaris and Altinkum both in Turkey and must admit prefered them to Bodrum. Can't say what was wrong with Bodrum but just something did not gel. When we look at our photos we think it was a great holiday and we met some lovely people, Would not recomend this hotel if you cant get out of wheelchair as ther are many steps to pool,to reception and appts .Both our childeren are wheelchair bound but staff did carry them and chairs up and down steps with the aid of my husband.
Loved it very friendly
Went to Moonshine Apartments in Bodrum June 2004. It was lovely and clean and all the staff were very friendly. The pool was clean and well kept. My two young daughters who were eight and three loved it. Would recommend these apartments.
Blame it on the Moonshine!
My husband and I have just returned from the Moonshine Apart Otel 20/07/04. When we checked in we were charged £20 for the Air Conditioning which is quite normal or so we thought, until talking to people later in the week. We found out that persons staying two weeks were charged the same. We were also charged £20 deposit. When I queried what this was for, we were told for any damage that may be caused!! They also required £10 for the safety deposit box. None of these facts were given to us by the Tour Operator. So before we had set our cases down, we had spent an extra £50. We were shown to our apartment and I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised. It was large, clean, well maintained and had a double bed. It is meant to be Self Catering and although it had a kettle, the only other amenity was one electric ring. If a family were contemplating cooking they would be stuck. They also stated there was Satalite T.V. in every room. There was no T.V. although you could have one bought in for a charge of £2 per day. The rubbish was taken out every day and the bathroom and kitchen area mopped. This was the only room service provided. We ran out of toilet paper on the third day and were told if we required more we had to buy it. All rooms overlook the pool which was very nice and a reasonable size. The bar situated near the pool was open 24hrs a day. This proved to be a problem some nights as there was music booming out until the very early hours even if there were no customers. The food provided at the bar was fair but for the price, you were better off going to local resturants. The bar seemed to keep little stock and therefore, constantly ran out of drinks. We attended the Turkish Theme Night at the Hotel which was a waste of time. The entertainment was completely amature and the all you can eat buffet was removed after everyone had one helping. We felt the hotel was very isolated. It said it was 200 meters from the resort centre. More like 1000 meters. The walk to the centre was very dangerous, through narrow twisted roads with no pathway. You took your life in your hands everytime you went out. If you had any mobility problems this place would be an issue. There seemed to be a charge for everything including £10 for them to store your case if your flight was late in the evening. This hotel would probably suit young people looking for a partytime holiday. We definitely would not return.
