Babalu Apartments

I would recommend the Babalu apartments to all as we had a fabulous time.
The first week no entertainment but Dave and Robbie made up for it the second week.
The apartments are very basic but with very friendly staff at reception and pool bar we will be back.
We will go back for another supply of Vodka from the bingo so once again thanks to Dave for a fabulous holiday.

Accommodation only suitable for up to 3 people in a party (we booked for 4).
Apartment poorly maintained with plug sockets hanging off the wall and fridge old rusted and broken. Lock to patio door broke during our stay.
Pool and pool area not cleaned very well. Water in both main pools was cloudy throughout the whole of our stay. White edging to the pools very slippy and numerous people slipped during our stay. Bar area poorly designed but bar staff very friendly.
Entertainment most nights - great for the kids. Dave the entertainment coordinator very good, he organised football and water polo during the day and kids disco and bingo in the evening.

Really lovely holiday. Right next to the Europa centre.
Pool was great just a tiny bit of trouble with the Germans getting to the sun beds at what ever ridiculous hour in the morning but that soon eased off!!!
Other wise really nice place for couples and definitely for families.
Good entertainment, and with my travel they offered many good excursions at good value!!!!

Just recently returned from a 1 week stay at the Babalu apartments must admit I was really nervous about staying here due to the quite bad reviews I read before I went so I didn’t know what to expect but my overall stay I had nothing to worry about I had such a great time!
The apartment's were quite small and basic but they were spotless and cleaned everyday were our towels were changed over everyday and the sheets were changed as well and our balcony was huge great for sunbathing as you can hire sun lounger's for your balcony.
There is safety deposit boxes in your room where you can hire out but as I read in reviews people had money stolen from there safety deposit boxes in the past I just carried everything with me (but don’t let that worry you as I didn’t hear of any robbery's).
The pool was so clean and tidy , the bar food was great, the staff were so friendly I didn’t see 1 cockroach at all and there were hardly any cat's at all even by the pool or were people were eating the food at the bar which I was quite surprised, as my recent stay in Puerto Rico a couple of years back I did see loads of cat's but my overall stay at the Babalu was good and did really enjoy myself but if you are wanting somewhere bigger fancier and quieter you wont enjoy your stay here
The only bad thing I could say about this hotel was whenever you went in for a shower since we only had a shower in our room the whole bathroom floor would flood but we didn’t let that bother us at all, and also we went to hire a fan for the week but they didn’t have any left! Just as well at night time in Gran Canaria it get's really cool outside but you can buy fan's up at the europa which are really cheap!
But overall we had a fabulous stay!

Just had two fantastic weeks at the Babalu, rooms although basic were more than adequate for our needs, hotel staff very helpful.
Vodka Red Bill our air tours rep was helpful and approachable. Top marks to Dave the entertainer (George the cheeky monkey from Kings Lynn!) He organised some brilliant entertainment, and all the kids loved him.
The only down side was that we didn’t get our room cleaned very regularly. We would definitely visit the Babalu again.

We have just returned from a fabulous week’s holiday at the Babalu. The rooms are basic but kept immaculately clean and are blessed with fantastic views of the pool and beyond. All the staff were friendly and approachable. The only slight niggle was that all the small appliances for the kitchen (kettle, toaster etc) had to be hired from reception for a small charge.
A special mention must go to Dave the Entertainer, he was the highlight of the holiday for my 7 year old daughter, keeping kids and parents happy from morning to late night with his infectious humour.
The apartment's are based at the top of the hill and the views are just amazing, the Europa centre is just a 3 min walk where you can find good bars, restaurants and shops.
We would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone and will be booking again for next year.

Had a great time at Babalu, apartments are very basic, maid cleaned everyday and changed towels and bedding every other day.
Dave the entertainer was excellent he amused the kids during the day with 5 a-side, killer pool and waterpool, in the evening he had a kiddies disco learning them different dances and games, then played euro bingo followed by shows for the adults from snake shows to singers which included the adults joining in.
Bar staff are all very friendly and bar food good. The only reason I give a 7/10 was the place was surrounded by wild cats!

I have just returned from two weeks at the Babalu. My boyfriend and I took the risk and went Allocation on Arrival and I have to say how lucky we were to be put here. I was really expecting some really run down place.
When we arrived in Puerto Rico, the two big hills were very daunting and I could have cried when we kept climbing up the hill to our apartments. I really thought we were going to be stuck in the middle of nowhere but I'm now glad that we were up there instead of at the bottom.
The Babalu is across the road from the Europa Commercial Centre which must have about 50 restaurants and bars so plenty of choice! There is also a really good mini golf course there too which is just 4 euros for an adult. There is also a big Netto supermarket there.
As for the apartments, I thought our apartment was brilliant for us. It has a little kitchen which I wouldn't say was suitable for cooking as it had a tiny hob and no oven but as we were seconds from the restaurants that didn’t bother me.
The main thing was we had a fridge!!
The beds aren't particularly comfortable and the pillows are quite hard. The only thing I found was that it got so hot in the night. All apartments have a large balcony with a pool and a sea view. There were days that we would just sunbathe on the balcony.
The pool area is great - 3 pools!! Plenty of sun beds and a pool bar which serves food as well. They have two happy hours a day as well. The Babalu has just introduced Dave who is the entertainer.
In the day, he organises water polo, football etc to keep the kids amused and in the evening he has been organising comedians/singers/animal shows. He was absolutely brilliant, and he really puts the hours in! I don't know how he does it but he knows every kid's name and really interacts with them.
If you are going with Airtours, I really recommend the Cabaret night that the Airtours Rep put on. Granted it's 48 euros each (adult) but it really is worth it. You are taken to a proper theatre/dinner party venue and all wines/beer/soft drinks are included all night AND you get a 5*meal served by your own waiter. It's a night to really get dressed up.
The Babalu rep, Bill was friendly and he was always there when he was supposed to be. If you needed a rep in the times that he wasn't due there then the reps stress that there is a telephone line that you can reach them on and I did hear someone talking to the reps on the phone so that's not fake.
We had two weeks of great weather...with the heat rising to 40 degrees on most days. I've got a great tan and I've had a great holiday. I would go back again.

We stayed at the Babalu apartments and were disappointed they were dirty because the maids didn’t clean up properly. We didn’t get clean linen on first week and had to go out to reception and ask for clean linen and do it myself.
The pool wasn’t cleaned on our second week and it was green and had to use the pool across the road at the Riosol. Food from the bar area was greasy.
Overall it was not a nice hotel to stay in and would not recommend it.

The hotel at Babalu was fantastic! I loved it because it got all things I wished! Friendly staffs, quick service of fresh food in bar. Evening Party always to seem interesting! My first thing that I was amazed is Reptile Show! They have shown their real snakes, lizards and a turtle!
The Beach were quite far but very friendly, but we have the nearest restaurants which is great for us!
You should come there!! I will come back, any time!
