Absolutely amazing holiday.
The weather was amazing, the food was amazing never had a bad meal. The beer roughly works out the same we pay in England.
Do not go through the rep to book the dolphin discovery, go down to one of the ports and book it there, you will save about 10 GBP with every two people that go.
The crowd that we met over there were fantastic, had a great time.
Perfect for kids and big kids, Dave the entertainer had his work cut out teaching all the little ones dance routines and football every day for all ages.
Very clean apartments, maids were there every day; pool area was cleaned thoroughly every morning.
Friendly staff: the barmen, the reception and everyone else very friendly.
Book the BBQ on Wednesday night, very nice food and great entertainment.
For food try Barbacoa (next door at europa centre), Las Farolas (main shopping centre second floor, amazing steaks), Fat Cats (beach bar for english food and beer), Harleys & Picaddilly for Karaoke and nightclub.
Booking soon for same time next year but taking the kids this time.

Just got back from Babal. If you can accept the rooms are for sleeping and showers only then you won't be disappointed (slot TV & 60's decor).
Weather fantastic circa 30 C. Bar food excellent, if a little expensive and only buy the beer in happy hour -2 for 1 (360 Euro per pint - go 200 metres to the centre and pay circa 200!). Dave the entertainer was hardworking.
I must say the complex overall was OK.
Pool was great, but cold.
The Europa centre across the road was excellent (Baracoa for shows, Three Coronas for Steak and Orient Express for Chinese). Karaoke was best at the Tavern; Pat will drag you in and Paula gets you drunk at the shots quiz!
Definitely go back, lovely people.

Set high on a hillside, close to Europa Centre, The Babalu apartments were clean bright and airy.
A small supermarket selling all you need. Just a short walk to the shopping centre. Well appointed bar, with great entertainment for, all ages.
Barbecue night, karaoke, bingo, comedian. Or if you want hustle and bustle, just hop into a taxi a 2 Euro ride to the main centre.

Have just got back after spending a brilliant week's holiday at the Babalu. The rooms are adequate, cleaned daily and the swimming pools provide a refreshing break from the heat - and clean too! Dave the entertainer gets everybody involved in the daily and nightly events with great enthusiasm (even when guests prefer to stay on their balconies!?).
The only down side being unable to continue with the evening's festivities after 11.00pm! (some people complained at the noise). Resort fabulous with all facilities within an easy 3 minute walk away. Restaurants plentiful and very good. All in all, an excellent holiday in a great complex, good entertainment and very enjoyable. Well recommended. Shall hopefully be returning to the Babalu in February 2008.

Went to the Babalu Apartments November 12th and had a wicked time! The pool area is gorgeous with nice views over looking the beach! Your really close to bars and restaurants, but you can't hear any noise at night time!
The food at the pool bar is GORGEOUS! (and a good price) esp the chicken baguette.. yummy. Drinks are cheap. . especially when you have happy hour twice a day!
The entertainer DAVE is a right laugh.. he organises activities in the day, like footie and water polo... (just to mention 5-1 to the girls .... ooo yeaa!!) he also does international bingo haha.. where he attempts to do it in 3 languages! :P.. I won a big bottle of rum!! yay!
The lift at the hotel is a bit random.. feels more like being on a tram than in a lift. The apartments were just the right size and you got a lovely big balcony over looking the pool and sea! They get cleaned 6 times a week and our linen was changed twice in the week!
Taxis are well cheap, think the most we paid was 2euros 70! Overall me and my boyfriend Kieran had a great time... would def go back again this time of year.. met some really lovely people out there and had a right laugh! Would recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly hotel with a nice pool cheap food and drink, good location and want to meet new people!

12/11/07 to 19/11/07, Hi everyone had a great time out there, apartments well furnished cleaned every other day, staff well presented and very helpful. Food very good, happy hour could have lasted a bit longer, entertainment was excellent but Bingo terrible, (Dave I don't believe your good lady wife bought that shirt though!). Weather great.
If I could change one thing it would be the sun beds, come on guys they wasn't very comfortable!
Regards to you all at Babalu, Ian, Sue, Billy and Luke (London)

Babalu apartments are excellent. Myself and 2 friends just got back from a holiday in Gran Canaria and stayed in Babalu. I do not know how people can criticize; the cleaners cleaned the rooms every day, changes your towels and were very pleasant. They stay open all the time for constant freedom throughout your holiday.
The pools are always clean and the bar is also very good, staff are lovely. There are loads of sun chairs and umbrellas and also a lift due to the fact that the apartments are on the biggest hill on the island.
The apartments are very good and I would definitely recommend them.

Just arrived back thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, could not fault the Babalu, very clean pool, cleaned every day. The only downside was no entertainment, as entertainer was on hols himself, none the less we are going back next year. Shopping centres brilliant, you must try Flicks for food, excellent.

We were here for a week’s holiday.
This hotel was a fair distance away from the beach and the nightlife. When they say it was on an elevated point, they certainly were not kidding! It felt like up a mountain. The views are nice but at least you'll come back with stronger leg muscles.
Puerto Rico is pretty hilly to say the least. The main shopping centre and nightlife are about 30mins away walking so you'll need your hiking boots. There are a few bars, shops about but for something better you need to walk for quite a while. The location is poor in relation to civilisation and all the good restaurants.
The rooms are clean and tidy and the staff were pleasant enough but I think their idea of 'close to amenities' is somewhat different from mine (don't ask for short cuts).
The location is why the low score as the tour operator told us it wasn't as far as the brochure said from the beach/shops/restaurants. You can get a taxi if you want to risk life and limb. There are loads of 'Timeshare' guys around so pretend you don't speak English.
The swimming pools are OK and a decent size to keep the kids happy. There is a snack bar for the usual stuff but for dinner you'll need to walk for about 2miles at least.
Overall the location is the letdown as the brochure is not exactly truthful.

I have been to Gran Canaria for the last 7 years. Always go with my family, this year went with my boyfriend. Stayed in the Babalu for the past 3 years, I've gotta to say it is the best apartment I have stayed in over there. The situation is great, on the side of the hill, the views are gorgeous.
The swimming pools are great fun, the rooms are clean, tidy and spacious. the entertainer Dave is great, he arranges shows every night e.g. a snake show, comedian and loads more. I highly recommend Babalu!!!! See you next year, hehehe

Fantastic holiday, apartments very clean, maids come in every day to tidy and change towels. Staff very helpful and friendly. Pool and poolside was cleaned every day water was a bit cold though.
Dave the entertainer was brill, kids loved him. We all had fun, he put on a BBQ on Wednesday night was fantastic. Pool bar was quite cheap especially at happy hour, food very good.
The best bit I enjoyed about my holiday was the submarine you have to go to Mogan to board, which is just a ferry or taxi ride away. It cost me and my boyfriend 55 euros, it takes you down 25 metres below. You get to see a ship wreck and all different kind of fish, it’s quite an experience.
The main shopping centre was amazing - only down side was street sellers trying to sell you watches and sunglasses etc even when you’re trying to enjoy a meal.
Best place for breakfast is the Baracoa, fantastic proper English breakfast. Had a 3 course Sunday carvery here, very filling.
Definitely going back next year but for 2 weeks this time, there is so much to do that 1 week isn’t enough. Weather was great never had a bad day.
Thankyou Babalu for a fantastic week.
