Dont listen to any bad ratings, Baablu appartments are great they are quiet, clean, the pools are great, music is played at poolside all day, balconies are nice and big with a fantastic view of the sea, europa centre is a 2 minute walk with some nice resturants and all you need!
If i go back to gran canaria i will stay at the babalu!

We stayed at the Babalu Apartments for a week 26th May. It was clean and apartment was big enough especially the balcony. No insects, a few cats but they stayed out of the way. Staff friendly and helpful. No need to walk to beach or bottom Shopping Centre as taxis are only 3 Euro - 3 Euro 60 cents and lots of them. Both shopping centres were good with lots of places to eat, food was good. Recommend Amadoras Beach. Swimming pools at Babalu were clean and spacious. Lots of sun loungers to choose from. Weather was superb. Pubs and clubs in bottom shopping centre were ok Jokers is better than the other main club. Jack Daniels, Bora Bora, M&M and Snoopys were good bars. Will def go back soon, hopefully Jan 09, nothing to complain about.

Myself and my partner visited the Babalu Apartments in April 2008 and had a great time. We had also read the negative comments but there is nothing negative i can say! Yes the apartments are basic but you get what you pay for and i dont like using kitchen facilities whilst im on holiday anyway!! The maids came daily except for sunday and everywhere was clean. All the staff were friendly. It is located at the top of the hill where there is a shopping centre, we spent a couple of nights up top and the rest down at the bottom. Nice walk down although it is a steep hill or 800 and something stairs, but if you wanted to get a taxi its just a couple of euros. Dont let any of the negatives put you off we had a fantastic time!

First time back in 3 years at the Babalu Apartments. Was a bit worried when we received a letter from the tour operator saying that work was being done at the Babalu and gave us the option to change accomodation. So glad we decided to take a chance and still go to the Babalu. If work was being done it was being done very quietly. The resort itself is very quiet in April but suited us fine. The Babalu is basic but everything you want. Huge balconies and the maid came to clean every day. That doesn't happen often. Even though it is up a steep hill, transport is no problem. The local bus operated to the centre of Puerto Rico at 1 euro one way and a taxi back was only 3 euros. Did not break the bank.
A most enjoyable relaxing holiday in a highly recommended place.
Looking forward to our next holiday back at the Babalu.

When we first arrived at the apartments my partner and i were very disappointed.
It says the apartments are 3 stars, but they were very very basic and did not look at all like they did in the brochures. Its more like 1-2 stars.
We found it to be very scruffy and the staff were very ignorant. If you had a problem they would prentend to not speak english.
If you wanted a warm shower you had to be prepared to have warm water for only ten seconds oterwise from then on it was freezing cold.
My son came out in a rash from the pool, so was unable to go in the pool but it was probably for the best since it wasnt even heated.
Basically we spent as much time as possible away from the apartments, but the entertainer at the place would moan an say you better come and watch me or else. i found him to be very intimitdating.
The people at the Europa centre were extemely lovely and friendly.
I would return to Gran Canaria in the future but i will certainly not be staying at the Babalu apartments.
Wen i go on holiday i don't expect to sleep in the ghetto.

just arrived back from a week at the babalu, it was an excellent hol !! was a little worried after reading all negative feedback, but me and the other half had a great time. the pool was always lively, even though it was rather cold !! but after a day lounging in the sun, it was bliss !! and as for dave the entertainer... what a legend, made every 1 feel so welcome and worked extra hard to get every one envolved esp in bingo !! the apartments were fine, basic but thats all you need as theres lots of restaurants about a minutes walk away. the cleaners came almost every day, although we only got clean towels once, so lucky we bought our own, and the bed linnen was never changed during our stay, but really not a big deal !! the only problem we had was the cats !!! we found one sitting on our sofa after leaving the balcony door open, but didnt really cause any trouble... just dont feed them !!!!!!! a great mixture of people all age ranges and from all over the world, but all friendly. will definately go back

just returned from our 12th or so visit to the babalu! it was as fantastic as it always is! as its only over the road from the shopping centre its in ideal location! the apartments are basic but very clean, the balcony's are fab really big and get the sun all day,all overlooking the pools, the pool is great especially if you have kids! the staff are all friendly too! the pool bar is very relaxed and has the best bbq night on a wed night, also with bingo games and different shows on most nights! dave the entertainer organized a great paella with juan the chef on a hot sunny afternoon which went down well with everyone round the pool! we will be going back to the babalu again next year and have even got my man&dad hooked on the place! we have tried loads of other places between visits to babalu but nothing compares for a relaxing holiday!
( jack my son say's i have to add dave the entertainer is mint but he's a bora fan and they got beat by cardiff when we were there!! ha ha dave unlucky!! see you next year!)

Just came back from Babalu with a group of friends and we loved it!! The rooms were small and basic but they were clean and comfotable so no problems there. The pool was really nice, if a little cold, but thats only because of the time of year we went. The pool bar was nice and cheap. Music at the bar was really fun and lively. DAVE THE RAVE ROCKS!! He made the trip really fun! The apartment was very high up and I wouldn't recomend walking, but a taxi only cost a couple of euros. The shopping centre was AMAZING!! So much to do and everyone was really friendly!
Overall me and my friends loved the holiday, and i would recomend it!! :)

stayed at babalu for 1 week feb 2008.apatrments were very basic not even a kettle unless you are prepared to pay for hire of one, don't bother as you can buy one from shops cheaper than the hire charge.animal poo in corridors 4 night out of 7.reception staff very miserable and unhelpful rep not much better.no lift for 2 days before we left due to heavy rain, everyone had to carry cases up from all floors on departure with no assistance and alot of people were pensioners so it was hardly a picnic.wouldn't stay there again for free.the only nice thing about it was the pool area hence the rating of 2.

This resort was absolutely brilliant, the apartment itself was exactly what we wanted, and I was over impressed with the size of the patio even though we were 2 floors up and also looking over the sea a fantastic view.
The bar and its staff was great and Dave the entertainment was brilliant with things going on every night, the tribute acts were good and all staff were always friendly. We also had a snake show where we were able to hold the snakes and have photos taken I thought this opportunity was brilliant for within the apartments especially for the kids.
Out of all my holidays I’ve been on I can honestly say the entertainment in the Babalu was by far the best.
There were three pools and outdoor pool tables for the kids, the cleaners kept our rooms spotless, the apartments and gran Canaria left a brilliant impression and I would definitely visit gran Canaria again and if I did I would stay at the Babalu for sure.
