First thing i would like to say is that most of the other reviews here are neither here nor there. Im seeing either 1 out of 10 or 10 out of 10, obviously these cannot all be accurate so please read my thoughts on the place for an honest review. I have just got back from a... more

I would have to say to anyone wishing to holiday in this hotel to be careful! Firstly its classed as All Inclusive, yet nothing is included. It should be Full Board plus drinks. You get your drinks from 10am until 10pm (nightly entertainment starts at 9.45pm - what a... more

Great Holiday
We have just come back from Tunisia and have had a wonderful time.We have very low expectation but were pleasently surprised. Having stayed at many nice 4/5* hotels before, at first, one may get the feeling "what are we doing here"...the rooms are a bit dated...the food not bad but could be better....but once you get settled it was great. For families/for people who just want to relax it is prefect. I would recommend trying to get involve-once to get to meet the enterainment team you will understand how much of a good job they do and for so little money. I have rated the hotel 5/5 many due the the entertainment and what we wanted from the hotel-a relaxing get away! I would recommend visiting the local towns. (The location of the hotel is good, v close to airport without any planes cming over so transfers not needed).
hated it
Have just returned form stay at neptunia yesterday, where do i start.....rooms,beds made daily towels changed, food left in room for 24hrs,no toilet roll, floors left filthy.food...ok if you lik eggs every day, food cold, meat uncooked.hotel staff...unfreindly unless you are french, german or a woman on your own,we have been to tunisia 6 times and have never felt so unwelcome in this hotel.animation team.....rubbish ,complete lack of motivation, shows poorly performed.was told coming to end of season so all tired,we lucky we have more than one holiday a year, but that not nice for someone who has saved up all year to go,have stayed at other tunisia hotels out of season and their animation teams where excellant.my overall opinion is spend a bit more money and stay somewhere else in tunisia.
Please do not ignore the negative reviews about this Hotel
Before we booked the Neptunia Beach we checked this site and there seemed quite varied reviews ranging from 5 out of 5 "fantastic holiday " to 1 out of 5 "don't do it " ...on balance we were doing a late booking and decided to sway on the side of the good reviews.......not the right choice !! We had been to Tunisia last year and stayed at the Averroes in Yasmine Hammett and could not fault any aspect of the hotel or resort we had a holiday that made us want to return as soon as possible......this hotel was one that would make you think carefully before ever rushing back. The weather was fantastic during our stay...we were not unwell and so the following review is not biased because of other factors !! It's hard to know where to start to give people a fair picture of what to expect at this hotel....perhaps if you came to this hotel in the 1970's (when it was built) the standards of the hotel would have been impressive...but it looks the same now as it probably did then and i guess they are still using all the bedding and table cloths from then (The restuarante should note that a quick shake of the table cloths does not make them fresh and clean !!) Music...now that's interesting here...don't get me wrong im no fuddy duddy...but having a continious loop of about 15 songs played at a volume that if you have the room doors closed makes no difference and worse still if you are around the pool you would swear blind you were at a concert was a little excessive. The food at the hotel improved a little as each day went by , or perhaps after the awful food on the first night we did not expect too much after that....and hey if the food was good enough to attract so many flies it can't be all that bad ! The rooms were clean it's fair to say if very tired ...less like a hotel and more like a bed and breakfast in Blackpool when you have left it late booking !! The animation team were ok but unless you bought tickets to the Disco you were a little outside the loop....and while we are on the subject of the disco ....if you are in rooms 102/104/202/204 a little tip dont bother to buy tickets for the Disco because when you try to go to bed youll enjoy every last song as if you were there (luckily we were not in one of these rooms ...just spoke to people who were) The hotel has a beautiful setting with a nice pool area and access straight onto the beach.....not the best kept beach in the world but a nice hotel area to sun bathe. In summary i would say this hotel would be a good destination for someone who thought that they wanted to go somewhere a bit classier than the self catering place they went to last time in Benidorm ....but for people who have seen what a good four or five star hotel can offer for not much more cash than this hotel costs you would not go anywhere near this hotel even after you read the 5 out of 5 reviews ..... cos you probably would not want to spend your well earned break with these people........don't get me wrong we are not snobs and we like to have fun but when you have experienced other hotels that have wowed you, you just would not want to go to the Neptunia Beach. But lets end on a positive...there were beautifull sunsets and sun rises and the sun just shines and shines....and we got a good tan !! (the photo's are lovely the reality was not)
Wonderful Holiday!!!!
After reading some reviews I was a little worried, however I cannot fault this hotel at all! From the moment we arrived at this hotel we had a wonderful holiday. The rooms are clean and a good size and are cleaned daily. All staff are friendly and are happy to help you. The Animation team were wonderful they couldnt do enough for you. From when you saw them first thing in the morning to when you went to bed at night they were doing all they could to ensure you ha a brilliant time! They had us all up dancing and the drag show that they did was wonderful!! There is also a beach party in peak season which you can buy tickets from the animation team and are worth the money as there is a belly dancer, fire eater, food and selected drinks included in the price. I took my three year old daughter and all the animation team were wonderful with her! She has fell in lov with Timmy and wants to go back and see him. The food was ok there wasnt much choice but aways something for you to eat and if you want chips just ask as the staff are happy to make them for you! We went on the pirate ship trip which was great fun and also worth the money. I would definately return to this hotel and recommend it to others!
Excellent Holiday
Superb holiday. Hotel staff very friendly Food excellent well cooked local cuisine, excellent selection, fresh and plenty of it. DON'T EXPECT BURGER AND CHIPS, it is good food not fast food rubbish! All Inclusive package is good doesn't include unlimited snacks and does have a 10am - 10pm limit on drinks but you can drink as much as you like within these hours.....this was expected as information provided prior to booking made this very clear, however as food was good at mealtimes and plentiful you didn't need snacks!!! If you where in need you could buy a crepe or gorgeous hand cooked nuts for 80p each/packet and very fattening large doughnuts for 40p hardly break the bank!!! Entertainment excellent very friendly staff plenty to do during the day and night. Only issue with this was that the entertainment was outside on the forecourt and if you wanted to get to bed before 11pm you would not be able to escape the music...(most balconies overlooked the forecourt) something to consider if you have children or want a quiet life! Didn't bother us though we just joined in! Would recommend hotel to anyone - excellent value for money! Can't wait to return!
I will definitely be going back to the Neptunia Beach
A week at the Neptunia Beach Hotel was a wonderful experience. The accommodation was basic, and in need of a spruce up, but was clean and comfortable with sheets changed every other day, and towels every day. The food was tasty and there was plenty of choice and variety of dishes, with the majority of the waiting staff being very pleasant and only too willing to help. However if you are a fussy eater whose idea of good food is sausage and chips with brown sauce you'll have to look elsewhere, because the Neptunia is set up for those who are not afraid to try good Tunisian cuisine, which centres around lamb and poultry casseroles, fish, salad, rice, pasta and couscous. The entertainment on offer was a bit cheesy, but the animation staff were very hard working, and did their best to get you involved without being intrusive if you wanted to keep yourself to yourself. However, the entertainment is located outside in the courtyard which might make it a problem for those with young children, or indeed those who just fancy an early night. If you want to continue drinking after the 10pm end of the all inclusive, I would suggest you buy the tickets that the animation team sell during the evening as it really does save you quite a bit of money over the standard prices in 'bar dream'. The all inclusive package itself is described as being 'all inclusive light' which means that you don't get the unlimited snacks and ice cream that other AI deals include. Also spirits are also excluded, but the local beer, wine, cocktails (made using the local firewater), soft drinks and water are all more than adequate. Skanes itself is located on the coast between the towns of Monastir (about 6 miles away) and Sousse (about 7 miles away), both of which are easily accessible by taxi, bus or train. The local village of Sahline is a short walk away, and has some shops where you can buy any essentials that you have forgotten to bring, but if you need any supplies during your stay your best bet is to go to the supermarket called the Mono Prix in Monastir, here you can find virtually anything you might need at locals prices. All in all I would highly recommend the Neptunia to anyone who wants a good relaxing time away from what they're used to in Britain, and isn't too limited in their culinary outlook!
Dont go there
JULY 15th - 22nd 2007 Travelled with four children aged 18, 9, 8 and 4 Hotel very dirty. Food left out uncovered at least an hour before meal times so had had flies crawling all over it. Also at breakfast there was food from the night before still under the tables as floor not cleaned. Our room was ok just, but many were dirty and lots of requests to move rooms . The kids in the kids club were frequently left unattended and luckily we saw our four year old wander off towards the beach. Not surprising he was bored as there was only a bit of play dough and a bag of lego left out for them to play with. There were cigarrette ends all over the beach (no ashtrays) and pool area and broken glass in the sand. Entertainment was mostly kids disco and bingo. Spirits were not included on All Inclusive and very few snacks available outside meal times (the ones that were were also crawling with flies). Only two ladies toilets in reception which were flilthy with no seats and usually no loo roll. No toilets near pool or beach so had to use those in reception (long way to take the dripping wet kids). The only good thing was the weather. Generally hotel was dirty and of a low standard, as was the food (and we are not fussy eaters) but I do draw the line at fly infested food. MY ADVISE - AVOID THIS HOTEL ESPECIALLY IF TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN
The best holiday ever
I was rather apprehensive about stayng at the Neptunia Beach Hotel after reading some negative comments, however, we had our family holiday (2 adults + 2 teenage kids) in June and had the best time ever! Alright, so the food wasn't the best but the staff more than made up for it. The animation team who entertained the kids were the nicest bunch of people I have ever met on a holiday of this type - nothing was too much trouble and the staff did all they could to make sure we had an enjoyable holiday. I might as well tell you there were tears when we checked out and not just from the kids. We were on the all inclusive deal which was more than adequate, however, as I say the food wasn't that great, however, there is also a Pizza Bar for the kids when you cant get them to try the foreign grub. All in all I can honestly say we will be going back to the Neptunia in the future and would recommend this holiday for families and young people.
Brilliant Holiday!!
We have just returned this Sunday from a weeks stay in this hotel. There were 12 of us in our party ranging from 70 years old to a 9 month old baby. We were welcomed on our arrival by very friendly staff, they were very good with the children, the rooms were good but could have been a little bit cleaner although this was not a problem to any of us, they were cleaned every day and if needed the sheets were changed............due to my little one having chocolate.......... and we were provided with clean towels every day. The pool area was fantastic and it is right on the beach, the entertainment staff were excellent and provided on going activities all day. If we wanted to go out on trips they were easily come by, if we wanted to go in to the towns it was easy enough and cheap enough to get taxis. We went all inclusive and the food was excellent, they will provide whatever you want for the children. Altogether this was a brilliant holiday and was good for all age groups. We would definetly consider going back there again.
good tunisian feel
My family and I stayed at this hotel in April 2007. It is a good traditional hotel nothing too spectacular but the staff are very pleasant and willing to help. We did have some problems with our room at first but we were offered an alternative which was satisfactory and with a better view of the beach. The rooms are simple and modest with showers an bath, no toilettires but lots of toilet paper. I did read the reviews allbeit in a different language and thought what have i let myself in for, travelling with 3 kids but it was good. We went on a half board basis and the food was reasonable. If you did not like anything you could ask the chef to make something for you. The advantage of this hotel is that is has a sister hotel the Liberty which you can use all it;s facilities, and it is just across the road. As i said it is a very traditional hotel with a tunisian feel, we did go thru to some other hotels and it did feel a bit leik being in Blackpool, not being rude or anything but i am sure you all know what i mean. There were a few other english families and also lots of germans, french etc. It's worth giving this hotel a try as i say they are very pleasant and helpful and the pool and beach area is good. One thing i forgot to mention was the kids cub which my children really enjoyed and the entertainment staff were very good. One week was just right for us and maybe in few years we might return.
