Me (23) and my girlfriend (21) have been to Turkey before to various locations. We decided to go to Turkey again and found our holiday to Gold Hotel (3*), Alanya on Teletext.com. There wasn't many reviews at all on this hotel but knew ppl who had ben before so decided to book it, (plus we got a very good price paying only £620 each for 2weeks all inc. No one we met on hol got it anywhere near as cheap!)
After our flight we did encounter a slight problem with our transfer no where to be seen, an hour later this was sorted with a phone call or 2.
On arrival (approx 2hours later) we were pleasantly surprised that our hotel actually looked nice! (a lot nicer than the ones that we had just dropped other holiday makers off at!). After checking in our luggage was carried to our rooms for us.
Room was clean n tidy with shower, bath, toilet, sink, a double and single bed, sofa, TV with satelite, telephone, AIR CON and a HAIRDRYER for you ladies. All rooms also have a balcony with beach/sea view, which btw is literally over the road!
Next morning we woke for breakfast, wasn't too impressive. Typical Turkish breakfast of bread, cheese, olives, tomato, salami, boiled eggs etc. Lunch was a lot better, with a variety of hot and cold foods and dinner was better again. However after 2weeks this did get very repetative and you begin to notice the food is re-used the next day (hence the omlet with chips in!!!). During the day there is also coffee/ cake served, be quick if you want some coz the kids dive in and 9/10 you won't get any. Open bar starts at 10am closes at 11.00pm. Free drinks inc. soft drinks, local beer, wine, vodka, gin, RAKI. We certainly got our money worth here! lol
The hotel is very clean, rooms cleaned daily, pool vacuumed n cleaned every morning and floors mopped several times a day. Eating area also very clean.
Staff are friendly however know very little Englsh. ALI the hotel manager is very friendly, polite and helpful also speaks several languages, inc Turk, English, German n Dutch that i'm aware of! You will be sure to meet and get on with him.
There is loads to do in Alanya with plenty of excursions on offer. Would defo recomend a boat trip and Turkish bath if u aint had 1 before. We also went to see the water falls and the old city of Aspendos where there is loads of history and amazing sites. This is also where the worlds best preserved Roman theatre stands, and is stil in use every night! Water park also a good attraction. The main night life is down the harbour where there are many bars, restaurants and shops. It is also very busy during the day and within walking distance from hotel only being app 1km away, however you can catch a city bus for 1lira. Close to the hotel there are also smaller bars and restaurants, I suggest eating in Caspers Restaurant! excellent value for money, food is top quality and you get free bread/ dip starter n fruit selection dessert and free liquor, if you dont like it you dont pay, win win situation. Not far from hotel either!
So much to do and so much to see we just didn't have time in 2weeks to do everything as well as spend some time relaxing.
BAD points about holiady; men very flirty with your partner, especialy if they are blonde. I had a bit of trouble and it didn't help with my gf actually enjoying the attention!
Food in hotel a bit repetative, shop/ restaurant owners trying to get you in/ to buy. If you do buy, haggle until you are hapy with price. You know you have got a good deal if it took some time to get it n they were slightly reluctant. DO NOT PAY 1ST PRICE!!!
Went in sea 1 day n there was some S*** floating by, did'nt go bk in.
Overall a good holiday though, met some amazing people who still in touch with. Including Turks who we went clubbing with. Lovely sandy beaches, so much to do! Its as good as you make it guys!

We went from Denmark to Alanya and we stayed in Gold hotel in July (2006)
We were a family group of 15 members from the age of 2-60, and we all had the best time of our lives. This hotel is great. The delicious food, which you can't get enough of and i'm sure that they've have something for everyone, because there's like a huge delicious buffet. the view was amazing, the rooms are nice and confortable, and they cleaned it every single day. And omg the staff. I just loved them all, they were so kind and always helpful. Like you could stay at the hotel all day long and you wouldn't get bored if they were there. The beach is like right in front of the hotel, so you can go out and get tanned right from the early morning and then make it back for lunch at the hotel. Oh and I forgot i loved the pool parties and the entertainment aswell it was great.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for everyone. For babies, children, youngsters, adults, couples and elderly people aswell.
Thank you Gold Hotel, I hope to see you soon again.
