Riu Palace Tenerife Reviews
" Another great holiday at the Palace "
Submitted By: idlecat
This was our 2nd stay at the Palace having had an excellent experience the same time last year.
Nothing is too much trouble for them, the welcome drink of Cava is such a treat after a long journey and well appreciated.
We met other guests who had been on our last visit, it's always a good sign to see returners. As previously the food is top class, plenty of seafood every day, many choices of fish and good quality meat and a vast choice of vegetables.
The breakfast here is exceptional, sparkling wine every morning either to drink with your meal or have later on the terrace.
The waiters are very obliging and friendly, so are the room staff.
The rooms are well equipped and furnished, some are slightly larger than others but if you are not delighted with yours, reception will change it for you as soon as another becomes available.
I can't speak too highly of this hotel, we wished to return at Christmas but as it was fully booked we stayed at the sister hotel, situated just behind. Also excellent but not quite up to the splendid standard of the Palace.
In response to some other reviews I would say that both hotels do have a large proportion of Belgians and Germans, the Belgians being particularly pleasant and friendly people.
Excellent hotel if you have small children but not ideal if yours are older or young teenagers, there is little for them to do however, for older teenagers it's only a short walk into the centre.
Do shop around for prices and consider buying your own flight, the difference in price can be considerable.

Have visited this hotel twice now and never been disappointed. We first went in 2003 my wife, daughter and myself (my daughter was 2 at the time) and then again in September 2005. It was amazing, the staff on the reception remembered my daughter, now that is service.
First class from when you arrive glass of cava on checking in is a welcome relief after a 4 hour flight.
The food very good with a very good choice of starter’s and mains and my wife’s favourite, the deserts.
The staff at the pool bar are so good, always there when you want a cold beer or cocktail.
Some great bars around the hotel with good food and a supermarket is also close (the bar near the supermarket at the opposite end avoid as the owner seems to give you a frosty reception). Would recommend Fat Cat’s bar a short walk away.
The walk to Porto Colon is about 45 mins, but well worth it.

Had never been to Tenerife before but our travel agent suggested Costa Adeje: the location is excellent, away from the hustle and bustle but with easy walking (or taxi) distance to Las Americas.
The hotel is wonderful, the rooms are nicely furnished, most have a sea view. The food is really good with an excellent choice, mostly buffet style, but waiter service is available.
All the staff are really friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We are going back for the third time at Easter

We had never been to Tenerife before so had no previous experience of hotels there. We were not disappointed.
The Riu Palace was everything we hoped for and more. We hadn't requested a room with sea view but because of the shape of the hotel most rooms had this anyway. The rooms were a decent size, the food (buffet style) was excellent and the staff were unbelievable. They were always friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a problem with the lock on our room door when we first arrived but literally within minutes someone arrived to fix it.
The location of the hotel suited us - it was away from the hustle and bustle of Las Americas but within walking distance to walk off the calories from the hearty evening meals. Looking forward to our return visit in October this year.

Beautiful Hotel with a fabulous seafront position, lovely rooms.
Food very very good and the staff were EXCEPTIONAL you will not get better service anywhere! Superb restaurant although you do have to choose one of two sittings for dinner but this was no problem.
Pools Lovely overlooking sea, lovely promenade just outside hotel. short walk to shops cafes etc.
Only downside not much going on there but perfect for relaxing.
Would return anytime!

Our room was on the ground floor (these are the largest rooms) with a large terrace.
Breakfast is buffet service with a choice of hot or cold dishes.
there was a huge choice for evening meal, cold buffet, carvery, show cooking or waiter service.
There are 2 swimming pools one of which has a gently sloping ramp which makes for easy access and would be suitable for disabled guests.
Just outside the gates from the pool area is the promenade which is lovely to walk along. There is a really good beach (blue flag) Playa del Duque about 10 - 15 mins walk away with a good choice of cafes along the way. there was live entertainment most nights and the resident band were pretty good although predictable after 2 weeks.if your are looking for a quiet holiday in pleasant comfortable surroundings this is the place for you. I would not recommend this hotel for families with young children or teenagers as there is no entertainment or activities for them.
Advice: A sophisticated resort with mainly 4 & 5 star hotels.
Activities: We would fully recommend Lorro Park for a great day out and enjoyed a trip on Freebird One, to see t
Good for: Beach
