The LaLiT Golf & Spa Resort Goa

I absolutely loved this hotel. I spent 3 weeks total in Bangalore and was really looking forward to a break in Goa. This hotel was perfect for that. We only left the resort once for dinner. We were in a huge suite room with sea view (although like other posters say, the sea is quite far away) which was very clean. We stayed at the Intercontinental Goa for 2 nights in December 2005. We spent all of our time at the resort - did not get to see any other parts of Goa, as my husband was ill and recovering from a travelers' bug. Thus, it was a good place to just relax and convalesce, as the weather was gorgeous, as were our surroundings. Very recently I spent a couple of nights at the Interconti Goa. The resort is spread over 85 acres and has 255 rooms. It has rivers flowing on both the sides of the property (Though one of the rivers can be seen only if you can trek up an hillock at the end of the property). The beach is very beautiful and private. The luxury suite room that we were staying was wonderful. The house keeping staff doing up the rooms is very courteous and prompt.Till here the holiday seems to be going fine. Good to stay on priority club points.. So, its a new hotel dropped from space onto one of the best beaches in Goa.. Rooms are good (but make sure you get a seaview room. i,e, first floor away from the garden.. Beach is actually great, good beach bar and service.. Pool is way too small, could do with breaking up to create some atmosphere.. This is a good hotel. The staff are courteous and the welcome is warm. Drinks and food are expensive (especially for Goa) and the management seem to think that their guests won't mind being overcharged for everything from bottled water to a trip in a taxi. A word of advice if you want to travel around Goa from here... take the taxi from the hotel to nearby Palolem (5 minutes - 200 rupees), then take a local taxi to wherever you want to go. We stayed here for 14 nights in early December 05. We loved the hotel. We had a sea view room - although the sea was not that visible. The room was beautiful. It is an all suite hotel, so the rooms are quite large. The Super Kingsize bed was very comfortable - we had some great sleeps! Excellent bathroom. The hotel grounds are beautiful - fantastic topiary. The golf course has been cleverly built into the gardens so it is very spacious. I think in all there are around 88 acres to walk in. We stayed at the Intercontinental for 6 nights after a hectic week before travelling around India. It takes around 70 minutes from the airport. The hotel is a very large complex, but it didnt feel too big as it is fairly well spaced out. We stayed in the second week of December and it felt like we were the only toursits there, which was great as we just wanted to relax. We found a decent deal and got here. From the airport, it took ~90 mins to get here in a private taxi. The ride was scary with a slightly maniacal driver going thro mountains at breackneck speeds. We get to the front desk, and they were seriously confused. First thing they say before we get a room is "there is a compulsory Gala dinner on the 24th and it is 150$/per person plus taxes." We stayed at the Intercon Grand Resort at the end of November. I was expecting five star luxury but did not get it. The "resort" is very spread out in the middle of a golf course but has only one pool. The result is a general lack of any atmosphere. The beach is good and the staff very friendly but things never ran as smoothly as i would have hoped. Great Hotel excellent spread of food and warm employees with service satisfaction. Must stay here when in Goa.
