I have just returned from the Beira Mar Hotel. When we arrived they gave us a room that was unfit for dogs let alone human. It had brown running water and the shower was a pipe from the wall with electric wires over the top. When we went back to the reception to complain... more

Another wonderful 2 weeks away in the lovely resort of Baga - Goa. We stayed at the Beira Mar Hotel on the main road Baga. This hotel is right in the heart of Baga, it is close to the shops and restaurants. The beach is around 10 minutes walk, or you can jump on a local... more

Worst Hotel
We arrived on 28th nov 2004 and it all went down hill from there. The first room we were shown was really bad and the second was only marginally better. The room had to be cleaned from top to bottom and then some. The toilet pan in the so called bathroom should have had a government health warning slapped on it and the air conditioning was filthy. The people working in the hotel did their best but you can only do so much with what you have. We asked our rep to call round other places for us to get other accomodation but that did not happen. Our advice to anyone thinking of going to the Beira Mar on holiday is don't bother unless you don't mind living in squaller. Worst place we have come across in all our travels.
Basic but very clean
We arrived on Sunday the 20th December 2004 at 10am with a coach load of other holiday makers, we had to walk to the Hotel reception from the main road because the coach could NOT get into the hotel enterence because it was too small. We had to wait about an hour for them to sort out our room, when we finally went to our room it was quiet a SHOCK to see how basic it was with one small wardrobe without any shelves to put your smalls etc on, so we lived out of our suitcases for two weeks, also two single beds NOT DOUBLE, the fridge was much to be desired the door was twisted and did not close properly. At times we had electricity power cuts this was annoying because the fridge would defrost all over the floor. Plus Points: The bed linen and the towel service was excellent changed every day and the room cleaned as well, Staff we very friendly and helpful, Food at the hotel also of good quality and plenty of it. Baga beach about 10 minutes from hotel, where there were plenty of shacks to choose from to eat and sunbathe without a lot of hassle, and prices very reasonably priced. As this was our first visit to GOA in India we would consider going back even though its basic, we know to expect overall we had a fantastic time and many fond memories plus lots of new friends we met there.
