Stayed here a couple of years agao, It was the most appalling dirty room I have ever stayed in, been to Goa many times so I am aware of the hotel standards in Goa,and these hotel rooms are well below the rest.On the plus side the food was lovely and the staff also(dont know what the kitchens are like though) Would not go back to the Beira Mar Hotel.

we stayed at christmas, its goa , so dont exspect the hilton, basic but you dont stay in the room long enough, if you are lucky to stay facing the swampy fields at the back, then lucky you , it gorgeous, lots of birds (kytes, birds of pray etc)and wild life , the down side was my fault really , the room service had collerd me, to change an english pound coin,(as they were getting 25 more rupies to the pound) was which i did , not even giving a second though, they are not to pester guests but they do , even knocking on my door! i then realised later on in the week they were taking one of MY pound coins and i was swaping it for my own money!!!

our 3rd time in goa we normally go 23rd dec- 13th jan which is hectic but great. this was our 1st time going in march and loved it its a much quieter time though still bustling. and KC'S BAR is a must on the csm r'd. this hotel is a great place it's basic but very clean. (all hotels in goa are basic unless you want to spend ott on all inclusive compl;exes in the middle of no where, sorry thats not 4 us) it's a great location 4 everything you could want. he staff are ace, as are all the people in this marvellous country. for me goa is heaven, not a paradise by any means but its mystical & so magical.never got to go this year and i've been pining to go but finances say no at his present ime. one day i will return to this hotel.

  • Advice: busy but magical.
  • Activities: all of them no bad ones. and very cheap.

I STAYED AT THE BIERA MAR IN APRIL...

I STAYED AT THE BIERA MAR IN APRIL 2008 WITH 7 OTHER MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY AND WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME WE HAD. THIS WAS MY THIRD TIME IN GOA,BUT THE FIRST FOR THE REST OF THEM.
THE STAFF ARE SO POLITE AND FRIENDLY AND CANNOT DO ENOUGH FOR YOU. THE ROOMS ARE BASIC BUT YOU ONLY WASH AND SLEEP IN THEM, AND FOR THE PRICE WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT.
THERE ARE MANY RESTAURANTS TO EAT IN ESPICALLY EAST MEETS WEST (FABULOUS) AND ELECTRIC CATS JUST OUTSIDE THE MAIN ENTRANCE IS GOOD TOO.
BAGA BEACH IS THE BEST, WE TOOK A TAXI TO COCOA BEACH AND LEFT SOON AFTER AS THIS WAS NOT VERY CLEAN ALTHOUGH THE STAFF AT BLACKIES BAR ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND YOU CAN TAKE A TRIP FROM HERE TO SEE THE DOLPHINS AND THE PRISON - TAKES ABOUT 1HOUR OR SO.
WHEN BOOKING EXCURSIONS WHILE YOU ARE IN GOA - CHECK OUT THE PRICES FROM A TAXI DRIVER FIRST THEY ARE SO MUCH CHEAPER - I TOOK MY FAMILY TO WASH WITH THE ELEPHANTS (JUST BEING SO CLOSE TO THEM IS AN EXPERIENCE IN ITSELF) HAVING A POWER SHOWER FROM AN ELEPHANT WAS OUTSTANDING.
DONT FORGET TO HOP ON A BUS - THEY ARE SO CHEAP AT ONLY 8 RUPEES (10p)PER PERSON WHAT A RESULT.
ANYWAY - TAKE TIME TO RELAX ON THE BEACH AND HAVE PLENTY OF FUN AS THERE ARE LOTS TO DO IF YOU WANT TO BE ENERGETIC.

Just returned and cant wait to return next year. 2 wks not enough to soak up this wonderful country. the hotel is acceptable and cleaned regularly. the food is excellent. the staff are great, cant do enough for you, hello to ray and vashnoo in the restaurant. the hotel location is great as the backdrop behind the pool has every kind of species of birds and lizards possible. a 1 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of baga. cows and elephants walking down the street.amazing..beach shacks, sunsets, locals are great and a must for a lazy day on the beach catching the rays. fesh fruit chopped and bagged while you wait by the local ladies selling their wares. take kids clothes for the local childrens homes.sat/sun pm on calungaute and baga beach. they will appreciate it.
go see and fall in love as we did. booking for the month next year as meeting up with the great people we met this year. same hotel, same time. roll on march 2009.

Just come back from staying at the Beira Mar. We were there for 3 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The hotel is basic but what would you expect from a third world country? The staff were excellent, always giving 1st class service and very friendly. The hotel is ideally situated for everything; beach, restaurants and shops being set back enough to give you peace and a relaxing atmosphere if required.
Although it’s not traditional Goan food, you have to try Kim Faa Chinese restaurant 5 mins walk from the hotel - it’s the best Chinese I have ever tasted and trust me I have tried a few.
Are we going back? Yes, but for 4 weeks next December, can’t wait!

I have just returned from the Beira Mar Hotel. When we arrived they gave us a room that was unfit for dogs let alone human. It had brown running water and the shower was a pipe from the wall with electric wires over the top. When we went back to the reception to complain about the state of this room we were told that we could have another room for £53 pounds as this room had air con - we paid this just to get out of the room.
Don’t let them put you in room 110; the rep had a look at this room and told staff they must not put their customers in it. The hotel is very basic but the staff are helpful. A lot of the people arriving wanted to change hotels.
Well, about the resort, what can I say? It’s mad - the road is like the M62; the traffic was so busy you had to get across the road as fast as you can, the cars do not slow down they just beep their horns very loud at you.
You are constantly bothered by shop keepers and beggars to buy goods. On the good side there is a fantastic restaurant facing the hotel called East Meets West - this is a must. Also a visit to the spice plantation is a great day out, it costs 55 pound each, if booked by the rep however we did it for around 35.00 for 2 and that was a taxi getting in the spice farm and riding the elephants. Also get a taxi to Coco beach and for £4.00 you can go and see the dolphins.
It takes a good week or so to relax with the poverty and the way of life, but the weather is fantastic, the people are friendly. Baga beach is a very busy resort, if I return to Goa I think I would go down south where it’s a lot quieter and you don’t get bothered so much.
Be aware you need a couple of pound coins for the airport as you don’t have a choice to carry your own bags and they do expect a tip.

Stayed at this hotel for two weeks...

Stayed at this hotel for two weeks and had a wonderful time. All the staff are really friendly and helpful.
Whilst the rooms are basic they are a good size and cleaned on a daily basis.
For those who have not been before whilst the sheets are not snowy white, they are always clean and its something that you accept due to the laundry being hand washed.
The Restaurant at the hotel has a lovely atmosphere in the evening and the food is good.
All the restaurants nearby are brilliant with a particular mention for East meets West and the Portuguese restaurant next door, which is a converted colonial home which belonged to the family of the present owner.
If he's in the mood at the end of the evening he will give a guitar recital, which adds further to the atmosphere.
As for excursions I would definitely recommend the Jungle Experience which is can be booked down at one of the shacks near to where the sea and river meet at Baga Beach.
This is a two day excursion all inclusive actually staying in the jungle which includes a visit to a spice plantation on the way, visiting a local village which is a real experience getting there by riding on carts which are pulled by buffalo.
In the evening there is a Barbeque followed by entertainment by the locals. You actually stay over night in a compound which has straw huts which are ultra clean and an experience not to be missed.
Beware though do not stray from the compound, like some idiots did as this is the actual jungle and caused an awful lot of bother for the tour guides.
Baga Beach is the place to be at weekends as a charity called EL SHADDAE brings children down to the beach from their homes.
The local mamas (beach fruit sellers) invite you to buy fruit and then take it down for the children to enjoy.
Likewise if you have a bit of spare space in your suitcase bring along with you paper pens and items of children’s clothing which is very much appreciated. This is really a worthwhile cause.
Are we going back again? We certainly are, back to the wonderful people, the land of contrasts, and the beautiful weather.

Another wonderful 2 weeks away in the lovely resort of Baga - Goa.
We stayed at the Beira Mar Hotel on the main road Baga. This hotel is right in the heart of Baga, it is close to the shops and restaurants.
The beach is around 10 minutes walk, or you can jump on a local bus for 4rps which drops you right at the beach.
The hotel is a very basic 2 start hotel, but the staff are lovely and very helpful.
A few restaurant suggestions:- East Meets West, just outside the hotel, The Kim Fa on the main road, All Spice in Arpora and the Oceanic in Calangute.
We visited the beach everyday and stayed Baga Creek endm using the sun beds outside the Silversand Shack. These beds are free, all you need to do is purchase a few drinks from the shack. We used to eat at 2 shacks during the day - one being the Silver Sands where they do a lovely Doupiaza and great toasted sarnies, and Britos and they do the most gorgeous sweets and they even do a Sunday Lunch!
This was our 3rd visit to Goa and we were not disappointed. The last time we were actually in Goa was 4 years ago, and yes it has developed a lot, but the character has not changed one bit.
