i have read many bad comments about this hotel, i must disagree with comments made, i have styaed here twice now...this hotel is a basic 2 star for this you not only get a good clean hotel & room, which are usually very spacious, basic with beds television , shower room.. is has a lovely pool, lovely sitting area to eat, you also have access to a gym etc..
the staff are realy hospitable security are really on the ball... the hotel is very central to all ameneties... pople who book goa must go with a very open mind its not spain we are talking third world country here, and for the price of the above hotel who can grumble..

We literally had a bad experience with this Hotel during our stay in May'08. Hygienically, it was not good and the staff attitude was pathetic. The staff were very unfriendly and do not even respond. It took over an hour for some one even to give a bath soap and drinking water..... Wont recommend to anyone

Hi all, I strongly suggest everyone not to stay in Alor grande, Candolim in Goa. We had taken a package to stay there for 2 nights, and the package had included pick up and drop to the airport/station, wine, bed coffee etc etc.
Please do not take this package as you will not get any of the above mentioned until you probe in and ask for, thats too at the cost of their convenience and not your convenience. The pick up and drop to the station is fixed irrespective of your train/bus /flight timings, which made us waste 4 hours. There was no wine bottle kept in the room. Room is barely clean, not worth of the money we paid for. After asking them for 5-6 times, we got the wine bottle. The manager is so rude, and he spoke to us as though he is doing us a favour by giving us a drop to the station.
The receptionist mis-guided us saying that there are no buses to the Candolim after 7pm, but there are buses till 8:30 PM from Panaji, his intention was to get a taxi for us from Panaji. People are not at all friendly in the hotel.
Most important of all is this hotel is not for family or couples. Its like a market when you enter this place. Overall, I strongly suggest not to waste your money on this hotel.

Amazing place. The hotel itself was really basic, but that's all we paid for, people were complaining but what did they expect for less than 600 quid for a two week holiday in Goa?
My partner and I only had one complaint and that was a hard pillow, sorted straight away by the amazingly helpful and friendly staff.
We only used the hotel as a base to explore Goa and that’s where the magic of this holiday lay.
What a amazing place, beautiful beaches, amazing history, the friendliest people I’ve ever met, unbelievable markets with so many colours and sounds, temples, dolphins, elephants, 16th century churches, hints of kerrela and Tibet.
A place where you can really chill out and regain some perspective on life or rip it up on jet ski's in the Arabian sea.
The food, wow, the food is unbelievable, served again by the genuinely nicest people I’ve met. Everything's mega cheap, barter for everything, tip widely, show appreciation. The best holiday I’ve ever had.

This is the letter I sent to Cosmos
We have just returned home from the Alor Grande Candolim, we booked with yourselves. On booking I requested the location of Hotel and air con, and was offered the Alor Grande as this suited my request, we expected a basic clean hotel with air con. We received an non air condition filthy hovel, as soon as we saw the room we stated to the Manager that this was not what we had paid for, due to the reception being full of holiday makers having the same problem as us, we were all told they would change our rooms the next day. We never received our air condition rooms, but they did offer us another room with no air con and it was as filthy as the one we already had. The bed was stained with urine, the fridge should have been condemned, stains on the furniture, rotting windows the list goes on. My Partner and myself both came out in a rash on our body’s and went to the local pharmacy, we presumed we had Nat bites although we covered ourselves with repellent every evening, We were treated for Bed Bug bites. The pharmacy asked what hotel we were staying at and did not seem surprised that we had both received Bed Bug bites? The Cosmos Rep offered us 2 alternative Hotels but was told they were on the lines of the Alor Grand and we were told we had to pay a further £250.00 to go to these like for like Hotels, of course we declined.
My Reply from them was.to the effect We should lower our expectations as it is only a 2 Diamond hotel. Shame on Cosmos, We expected Basic not total filth?
Shame on you Cosmos
