we stayed at the les olympiades self catering apartment on feb/march 08 for a fortnight, for the size of our party the room was tiny, and inadequate. Also it hadn't been cleaned before we arrived. Tiles fell off the wall in the bathroom and the shower head sprayed out water from the top all over the wall. The dishwasher had about 3 inches of stale water sitting in it which stank when we opened it. The window sill in the living could be lifted off without even trying, the windows were dirty and there were stains on the walls, also the skirting boards were all old and worn with bits broken of them, supposedly the rooms had been refurbished but ours had not been touched even with a paint brush. When we complained we were told we would have to stump up an extra 500 euros to get a new room or pay 45 euros to get it cleaned!!!!!! They fixed the shower head with an equally old one that still leaked and used some shady silicon for the tiles which will just come loose again after a while. We arrived at 10pm at night long after all the shops were closed and they still tryed to charge us 1 euro for a loo roll lol mental especially after paying £650 each to stay there!!!!!
Apart from our room Val thorens is awsome, and totally recommend families for the resort, if you are eating out go to the les Grange, it has lovely food, friendly staff and isn't overally expensive. Also try out Johns amercian burger bar for cracking home made burgers. Yummy!! Although self catering is the way to go as you could spend a mint on eating out.
