Le Cheval Blanc Apartments Reviews
" Worst Place I have stayed in "
Submitted By: denisebrown
Maybe we are used to a bit more luxury - but I would not recommend Cheval Blanc. We arrived at 1.30 am after travelling all day and had to make our beds. We had no blankets and the heating wasnt on. We didnt sleep for the first night because we were so cold. I have never suffered with back ache but I did every morning in this place. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in - and I lived in India for a couple of years. We got blankets on our second night there and got electric shocks from them for the rest of the week. The whole place was dark and shabby. When we got in the lift for the first time I thought it looked like a cattle trailer. There was no lobby to relax and chill out in so we didnt get to meet any other people staying there. We paid extra for the superior apt for 4. I would hate to see the inferior one. We were 2 adults and a 9 year old. I dont know where the fourth person would have fitted. We were falling over each other. Only one person could move around the room at a time. We had to clean the 'Apartment' before leaving or incur a cost. You can buy a cleaning kit at reception and they provide a hoover. (so considerate!) Other little things - TV remote did not work, couldnt sit on the toilet or it might come away from the wall, had to close the curtains on the balcony window to keep the draft out, shabby, dark & depressing.
Advice: Skiing is great. Food and drink are very expensive.

We went to val thorens in march it was a family of five staying in le cheval blanc apartments it was fantastic and the snow was marvellous-it snowed nonstop for 2 days and a night-at least! we stayed there for a week and it was the best holiday we ever went on as our passion is to ski and in val thorens at these apartments it is EASY as it is ski to door and the ski lifts are not even 100m away! As we are inexperienced our favourite lifts were the deux lacs chairlift and the cable car as we started out on green runs but by the end we were easing down blues!!!

Just returned from Val Thorens, staying at the Le Cheval Blanc Apartments, we were a group of 4 families, we had four apartments on the ground floor, facing the ski slopes, just amazing location, perfect to fall into ski school at 9 and to ski back to for lunch on our balcony.
Accommodation is 'adequate' not luxurious, dishwasher, oven, fridge, it was clean with good linen and towels, had to make own beds but no probs, great heating system, brilliant hot towel rail in bathroom will dry anything, boot room available just don't panic when the light goes out, light switches by the exits they are obviously on a timer, just need to hit one and lights will come back on.
Booking in went smoothly took approximately 20 minutes. Everything to hand, ski hire right next to reception, with the lift pass office right next door to apartments, couldn't have been easier.
Had a problem with a door in the apartment, spoke to reception and within 5 minutes a service engineer appeared and dealt with the problem fantastic.
Had a fabulous holiday, great restaurants and bars available, just can't wait to return next year, so many slopes we didn't get to ski, just perfect.

These apartments are clean, comfortable and excellent value for money. The staff are friendly, the rooms are a decent size compared to other places I've stayed in the same price bracket. Great views of the slopes from the balcony. They even provide an end of stay clean (except the kitchen) which is a nice touch.
The only minor niggle is the location of the ski lockers if you're staying on the upper floors as you can't ski-out onto the slopes from them (well, not unless you're particularly adept at scaling an embankment in ski-boots), however if you take the lift down to the lower ski-lockers you can ski straight out onto the piste. Great stuff.
Advice: The blue runs are great for beginner/intermediates, loads of options to help you progress
Activities: Le Viking is the best pub for apres ski atmosphere and watching sports.
