I absolutely hated this place, arrived on the first night havinmg booked Via don ana and got told that our room had been over booked and would be moved to Magnolia mar!! The man in charge had no idea of what he was doing and when we finally got into a room we were even less pleased than we were before.
The room was clean but the beds were at opposite ends of the room its miles from town and there are building works all around the hotel, we paid for a sea view and didn't get one. The kitchen was poorly equipt and there was an inventory which did not tally up with anything that was in the apatment!!
This place is absolutely awful

Don't go here! Especially don't go here with Thomas Cook or Flexitrips.
Expected a four star facility - got the hotel out of the shining. Deserted - shabby - no rep - Building site and cranes overlooking our balcony - Balcony flooded - drains blocked so water sat on balcony for days - Marathon to get to reception would have been hard with young children or people with disabilities
Still waiting for Flexitrips to respond to my complaints. Complained before I left the UK wish i had read this site before booking.
Positives: Clean-ish - portugese staff pretty helpful.
Will not re use either operator.

The self catering facilities were poor, one fork and no cooking pan and no washing facilities. When we asked if the hotel would provide laundry facilities they refused and told us to find our own. The a/c unit and tv had no working remote control units. The shower was a forced trickle which washed more of the floor than the person using it. The boiler "exploded " into use when the hot water was used and the boiler/gas vent in the kitchen kept the temperature of the kitchen very cold. The level of lighting in the flat and in particular the bathroom was very dim and depressing. This huge citadel of a building was empty and resembled the hotel from the "Shining". The corridors were depressingly dim and the weird changes in levels tested our nerves and ability to route plan from and to our room.
On the second day one of the residents had overwritten the sign at the entrance to the car park with " FAWLTY TOWERS ". This said it all.

Not very impressed with the hotel. Whilst there our first room had an infestation of ants that were in the beds.
When we complained they said they would spray them the next day. Only after our protesting did we get another room.
On two occasions the water stopped completely and we could not have a shower or even a drink until mid afternoon.
We ate at the hotel on the first night and were so disappointed that it was the only occasion we did so. Poor choice and not quality...the desert was jelly or nothing.
The whole place gave the impression that the season was over and no one really cared.
The pool was open, although unheated it was clean.
Lagos itself was lovely but I cannot recommend this hotel.

Excellent self catering facilities, very clean. Large balcony with sun beds. Pool was not heated but very clean.
Went during Easter break and we were there the week they opened after winter closure. Did not eat at the hotel. Staff very friendly. Minutes walk to the beach and a couple of nice beach restaurants.
Very quiet and relaxing just what the doctor ordered. You need a car to get out and about, all beaches we went to were very clean. Surfing in Sagriz about 1/2 hour drive.

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Mag Mar,we were re-located from the V.D.Ana cos they were overbooked!!Anyway we arrived at the Mag and was impressed with the size of the room, air con and enough room for our family(2adult2 kids) long walk to reception but hey whats the rush!!Very close to the beach which is lovely.Bathrooom ok shower was fine, poorly lit throughout, bedroom a fair size living area big,had my sons beds out all the time, leaving plenty of room to relax, also a table and chairs in the room for brekky etc.Kitchen is well equipped, fridge m/wave,hob,kettle,toaster,coffee mchne,no oven though.Balcony very big facing the sea and the morning sun.Pool is very nice with bar and pool table.Used the hotel reataraunt once, not too impressed but it gets you out of a jam if you dont fancy a ride into town.Cab to Lagos is 5 euros same coming back late at night.Needs a lick of paint and some TLC also the maids need lesson on proper cleaning,i.e under the beds not swept, balcony not swept,no loo roll unless you ask!!!Overall it was more than acceptable,we booked with On The Beach and got a real bargain as did many who've posted i suspect,so you cant really knock it,read the reviews for the Via Don Ana and like me i think you'll be pleased you did'nt stay there.
