when i arrived at the hotel i was shocked to see the hotel was on a main road and we had to step out and dodge traffic it was very dangerous not good if you have young children. The hotel was clean but basic the staff were very pleasent and always willing to help. The food was basic and not much choice but you could go up may times as you like. The pool was quite small but the beach is just down the road. The only major problem i had with the hotel was there was music playing morning noon and night it was OUT OF ORDER when you have had a long flight you dont need music playing till 2 in the mornig when all you want to do is get in to bed and sleep. I didnt think that was fair. The rooms were very old fashioned they Need a up date fast. There was another problem his name was eddie murphy im not kidding thats what he called him self he pestered you every minute of every day bugging you to go on an outing and he wouldnt give in the end we tryed to avoid him i only wanted a peaceful hoilday and i didnt get it. ( he was one of the staff he needs to be sacked fast.)

Loved the hotel, The staff where both warm and friendly and could not have asked for more helpful people.
The pool was always clean and the guy who helps everybody find there bearings and advises them on where to go is fantastic.
However they do have pool parties till around 1 o clock at night which is ok if it is every few nights but it is everynight.
Plus all year round every member of staff i spoke to added that they are always full of nasty polish people who are both loud noisey and rude.
If you like a nice hotel this is the place however if you want to get away from noisey stupid polish people i sugest you find a more expensive hotel which they can not afford.

When booking the holiday Jetline said they had to call back to confirm that the flight had been booked ok. 2 hours later no phone call so I rang them. They then said they would call me back in 5 mins to confirm but 2 hrs later still no call so I called them again & finally got confirmation. They then said they had to call me to confirm that the hotel had been booked ok in the morning but they did not call etc. etc.
Once the booking details came through, the tickets were not sent and also the transfers had not been included. It took call after call and email after email to get the transfers vouchers sent out.
I chased and chased for weeks for our tickets and they kept saying they were on the way. The day before the flight I contacted them again and they fianlly aranged for us to pick up from the airport.
On arrival we were the only one's on the coach that had booked via Jetline Travel and were not given our welcome pack, they promised that we would receive from the hotel. The hotel did not have one. Lucky enough we asked the rep before getting off the coach the time of the welcome meeting otherwise we would not have found out & missed this as the hotel did not know.
We had to spend the first night at the Sinbad Centre Hotel sharing a scruffy apartment with another couple!!
When we had our own room the room was basic but fine for the money. The rest of the holiday at Tunisia was great.
We then found out that we were not included on the Transfers list back to the airport so we had to go through the stress and hassle of getting this sorted as well.
Basically holidays are suppose to relieve stress but booking through Jetline Travel just caused too much stress and hassle!!

When we 1st arrived I was very disappointed the front of the hotel on the main road looks very uninviting, once through to the main courtyard / pool area it’s not so bad.
The breakfast here is terrible, however the evening meals are not too bad, there is plenty of choice so you will probably get something you like.
The rooms are OK but a little tired, the floor tiles have lots of cracks & the whole place could do with a really good scrub & lick of paint, but I suppose you do get what you pay for.
The pool area isn't bad at all, not quite as large as it looks on photos though & even though the beach is a little further than advertised, it’s only just over 5 mins walk away.

We have just this week returned from a fantastic holiday in Tunisia staying with the Sindbad Centre Aparthotel in Sousse. The hotel itself was brilliant for a 3 star basic hotel. I
t's in a great location, it costs about £1 in a taxi to get to Port El Kantaoui or Sousse (just be sure to agree the price with the driver before you get in) and it's a very short walk to the beach across the road. The beach is lovely with a cute beach bar/snack bar and plenty of loungers etc. It was a little busy on some days that we were there but there was still plenty of room to set yourself down. The hotel staff were lovely and friendly and we got on very well with them. They all speak great English and enjoyed having a friendly chat or joke with us. The pool and pool area is great and kept very clean. You can hire sun loungers all day for 1 dinar (about 40p) and there are plenty of parasols etc for shade when the sun is just that bit too hot.
The room we stayed in was a good size and very clean, with a very welcome fridge and air conditioning. Clean towels every day and maid service changing the beds/cleaning the bathroom etc daily. The food was delicious and, as anybody who has ever visited Tunisia before, typical of what you would find in a Tunisian hotel. Breakfast was usually boiled eggs, french bread, fruit, salad, Tunisian style beans/tomatoes, a selection of pastries/croissants. I was disappointed to read negative reviews regarding the breakfast from people suggesting there wasn't enough or that they didn't get what they wanted. It is exactly the same as any other hotel in Tunisia (I've stayed in a 5 star one before and it was the same!) and I don't know why people seem to expect that they should provide a typically English breakfast of bacon and sausages! The evening meal again was delicious and plentiful. There is probably a bit less choice than you'd get in a larger hotel but every evening there was still plenty of tasty food to fill you up.
Tunisia itself is a lovely country to visit and the locals are all very friendly. Some can be a little pushy when trying to haggle you or get you to look in their shops but they're never unfriendly about it and always remain polite. A polite but firm "no thank you" does the trick. There's definitely no need to feel intimidated by any of them. There are also a few set-price shops in Port El Kantaoui where there's no need to haggle and you can browse at your leisure.
I'd also strongly recommend that you try the Sahara Safari. It's a wonderful 2 day excursion where you see about 60% of Tunisia and get to ride a camel on the Sahara desert. It's a tiring trip but there are plenty of stops and you visit a number of places of interest. For about £55 you get 4 meals, a stay in a hotel, entrance to the Roman amphitheatre, a ride on the camel, along with the coach journey with a very knowledgeable tour guide looking after you the whole time. It really is a fantastic experience for a great price! Enjoy!!

There are now no televisions in the rooms they have to be hired.
The food is ok if you like stale bread and over boiled eggs for breakfast. The evening meals on offer weren’t that much better. The hotel is clean and tidy. The guy hired to do the entertainment left the hotel while I was there and what I did see wasn’t that good anyway.
There are stairs up to the pool and bar area which are a bit of a nightmare. And yes. The Spanish children are a pain, I had them dancing above me till 4am. Local people do use the hotel but I never felt at risk in fact they were a laugh.
Yes by all means stay at this hotel but go out and buy your own meals it’s cheap to eat out. The traffic from the main road is a pain but you get used to it. There are lots of taxis going up and down the road at all times, please what ever you do...agree a price and make sure you have change for the cab fare(unlike me who paid 50 Dinar, about 25pounds to go ten minutes up the road)you can get change from the hotel.
The beach isn’t far away but it’s over the main road and no one stops for you on the crossing.

Essentials:-
1) Take your own alcohol (spirits) as it is very expensive for whisky etc - about £4 a shot! Lager is about £1.20 a bottle.
2) Bring your own sun tan lotion as this too is expensive.
We both enjoyed our 1st holiday to Tunisia and have fond memories of the characters we met, both in the hotel & on the trip.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Tunisia, especially as you can walk around without feeling at risk, although you do occasionally get hassled to buy something - just be firm and say NO. Even though the staff at the Sindbad are really friendly and the rooms kept spotlessly clean, I wouldn't stay at the Sindbad again as there are just too many other decent hotels on offer, especially 2 miles up he road at Port El Kantaoui...
After the 35 minutes trip from Monastair Airport "Bashir", the really friendly porter at the Sindbad, carried both our cases up the 30 steps to the lifts (disabled beware).
We were allocated room 717 on the corner of the top floor and has a decent size balcony overlooking the pool area. Our first impressions were rather disappointing at how small and basic the room was. It is listed by med holidays as a 3* hotel but trust me, it is more like 2* tops! My partner wasn't happy at all and wanted to move to a more appropriate hotel just down the road (Royal Salem) but it would have cost us £140 to upgrade plus whatever Sindbad would have wanted for canceling.
We eventually decided to stay at Sindbad, despite the terrible breakfasts which were always cereal, boiled eggs, tomatoes and cold salad - never any toast! Take your own tea bags as the tea on offer takes a lot of getting used to. Also, the utensils on the buffet section were "Red Hot" & usually dangerously too hot to handle!
The evening meals ranged from well scrummy to dire but as it is SO cheap to eat out - 20 Dinar (£8) gets a decent 3 course meal for 2 in the cafe just a few yard up the road.
The Sindbad hotel is located right on the main road between Sousse and Port El Kantaoui, so be warned that you can hear the road through most of the night accompanied by a blind cockerel who starts yakking at around midnight accompanied by several dogs!! Our Medhotels rep said that this was a common problem all along the road, but when we visited other hotels during the day, we did not find this to be true, although we weren't there in the evenings.
The beach is about a 5 minute walk, although you have to cross the main road, so keep your wits about you! It is quite shallow, so safe to swim although you do occasionally get the odd beach trader selling his wares.
Sindbad has a sister hotel in Port El Kantaoui, this is supposedly a 3+ star hotel but is worlds away from the Sindbad. We spent quite a few days here enjoying both the indoor and outdoor pools. Wherever we went we had to pay 1 dinar for a sun lounger for the day, but well worth it. We also took water everywhere, we found the best value to be in the supermarket attached to the Sindbad (3 dinar for 6 x 1.5ltr bottles).
Take an ordinary TV aerial coaxial lead, so that you can watch the TV (if you have one) in your room, otherwise you will be charged to borrow a cable. We also took a small "one for all" type remote that cost us a quid from a pound shop in Southampton :)
There is only one English channel (BBC World) but it keeps you up to date on what's happening around the world & as there is virtually no evening entertainment (we only had 1 nights entertainment out of the 2 weeks) you'll be grateful for the telly.
Also, invest in a safety deposit box by the reception - it cost us 7 dinar per week to hire and a 25 returnable deposit. I managed to get a large one that I could put my camcorder as well as all our money & passports etc in. By the way, take pound sterling traveler cheques, as theses are accepted at the hotel - £1 = approx. 2.3 Dinar.
The weather was FAR hotter than expected - 25C+ every day, although 2 weeks before it was apparently quite chilly. Taxis to Port El Kantaoui were about 2 Dinar each way, buses less than 1/2 Dinar and so our favourite method of getting around was buses - only 1 Dinar to Monastir (40p) which is about 15 miles. The majority of the conductors speak English, so don't worry about not being able to communicate.
We were very spoilt in the first week as there seemed to be very few guests around and no kids at all, therefore, there was never a problem with getting a table in the restaurant and the pool area was always peaceful and relaxing (as long at the pool boy and his mates were not there!!). Unfortunately for the second week the Spanish Students descended and behaved like they were the only people around making lots of noise no matter where they were or what time it was, even at 2:30am around the pool, but if you threatened them with calling the police they seemed to disappear.
Incidentally, we booked 4 massage sessions which included a facial for 75 Dinar (£32) - we had 2 each and although not a vigorous workout, it was well worth it and SO relaxing.
We did the 2 day Sahara Safari, which although sounded good when John the rep sold it to us, turned out to be a mare. If we had been told that we would be up at 4:30am and spend about 12 hours+ per day on the road, then there's no way we would have bothered. That and the fact that we only got about 40 minutes or so at El Jem (the Roman Colliseum) and constantly hassled by the local traders everywhere we went - our coach's air conditioner wasn't working either, so it was warmer in there than outside!
And what was the point of the 4x4 off road vehicles that we had to pay an extra 35 Dinar for? We all thought that these would take us off road into the desert or whatever but all they did was stay on the roads!!! I don't get it, we may as well have stayed on the coach. The only real decent stop for us was the salt lakes to watch the sun rise - such a cool and tranquil place :)
Our hotel was home to the local Tunisian men for their evening drink & games of pool etc. I found this a little uncomfortable as they were everywhere, even in our restaurant - they nearly all smoked heavily and were sometimes quite noisy. All the other hotels of any merit had guards on the entrance keeping the locals out.

We stayed at this hotel for fourteen very long dismal days, it really is just a hostel not a 3 star hotel as advertised.
No entertainment restaurant serving cold food on cracked crockery, the food should have been hot most of it was inedible anyway and always the same for breakfast i.e. boiled eggs and salad saved from the evening meal the night before.
The pool and pool area were dirty and noisy especially when the Spanish students arrive which is every week for 3 days and then there are no tables in the restaurant.
All in all a very disappointing holiday and expensive as we had to eat out a lot of the time don't go!!

Brill little spot, never been to Tunisia before so I was full of expectancy,
We arrived mega early like 2am or something and we were helped across the road with our bags provided the young chap with his tip after we were booked in and shown our room.
Make a point to getting to know the staff what the hotel lacks in daily entertainment it makes up in with great staff and plenty of crack with them, I don’t know how many times I stayed up till 3 in the morning playing cards and having some banter with the staff, some staff don’t speak English like Mohammed the pool boy and Ariz the barman but there is an understanding there which you can use on a friendship basis, why not learn Arabic from some of the English staff, and use it on non English staff and watch there reactions brilliant!!!
A nice chap called Nordine will visit the pool area most afternoons book you excursions through him he is a cool dude helped me and the misses out a few times!!!!
Also if you get to know the DJ Joe you might get into a few bars for free if you go out clubbing with him.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions they are used to it!!!
Take a taxi to Kantaoui or Sousse it should cost no more than 2 dinars if the driver wont put meter on and is going to charge you more than 2 dinar get out of the taxi!!!!!
Food in Kantaoui is spot on try the Mediterranean for a night out or two you cant go wrong say hello to Abraham for me!!!!!
Finally do as much as you can have banter in the medina with the staff don’t take it seriously, same in Kantaoui have a laugh with the market folk as long as you buy one thing from there stall they will be happy the rest of your holiday, oh and get your photos developed in the Photoshop about 2mins walk from Sindbad hotel. Also check out hubbly bubbly from a cafe again to mins walk form hotel, turn left when you leave hotel not right lol.

Yes the guy with the moustache does make one feel unsettled but the rest of the staff were very very good. The chubby young chap who seems to stand by the door every evening was especially helpful.
Yes the decoration is a bit naff, but everything works and the beach is lovely. forget sitting by the pool the beach is a much better bet.
Entertainment of an evening will suit Wayne and Waynetta Slob, as it is rather naff and makes redcoats seem like top film stars. A much more entertaining way of enjoying oneself is to pop out to the samara club in souse, one of the best discos I’ve ever seen, lights are amazing.
Get a train from Souse to go to Tunis and visit Sidi bou Said a beautiful photo opportunity. By the way if you miss the train, ask a cab driver to take you to the long distance taxi rank, it costs about 8Dinar one way to Tunis along really good roads. The rail network is good too, you even get a little trolley selling drinks and snacks. Air conditioning was a bonus.
I can’t wait to get back there, Tunisians are so helpful and friendly.

Having just returned from the Sindbad Aparthotel to read the previous, somewhat critical comments I felt I had to defend the hotel. In essence, we felt that this cost saver hotel offered excellent value for money. Furthermore, as we had paid a low price our expectations were that of a basic, no frills hotel. However the hotel has exceeded our expectations, and we found it to be friendly, professional, clean and far better than the overpriced rubbish that is sometimes to be found within the United Kingdom. The buffet style service provides you with the opportunity to gather energy for the day ahead where you can quite easily venture off the beaten track either by train, bus or taxi to authentic Tunisian townships from Sousse.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody who is not hypercritical, and just wants to relax for a week.

For a first time traveller this hotel offers all the basic facilities required, en suite (average condition although for some it may take a day or two to get used to). The rooms are poorly decorated and have tiled flooring (blue colour). Some rooms have a fridge, sink and a cooker for self catering purpose with a fitted hub to extract the smell of cooking. All the rooms come with ac. always ask for an extra pillow as the ones provided are thinner than an a4 sheet. The first contact with the staff at the reception may make you feel a bit uncomfortable ( specially a guy with a moustache be careful of him as he may offer u a better room, then expecting u to give the bell boy a tip, don’t worry about it its their way of life, so give it a day or two to get used to. After the uncomfortable first night ( everyone goes through this , even the people in the other hotels so be a bit relaxed if things feel uncomfortable towards the hotel staff ( once u get used to it you will realise that they are friendly people). Always ask for a safe deposit box when u get their ( wait until the next day after arrival .if their is a lady working at the reception or a young man looks very smart then you will find them very helpful and caring (but always be careful from the moustache chap with grey and white hair, he tries to be helpful but always seemed to create an uncomfortable environment) their is a charge for the safe deposit box 7 dinars for 7 nights and 25 dinars deposit. However when u gets used to it the hotels is a great place for a short holiday (7/14 nights). By the way the TV does not work until u pay around 20 dinars at the reception, they will give u the remote and the TV wire as all of the TV are child locked and the Ariel taken out. So to be cheeky take a universal remote and a £1.00 TV wire with u you may save around £10.00 (20.00 dinars) o by the way all the channels are in Arabic, but useful if u want to use it for viewing tapes from your camcorder to see what you have recorded. The dinner hall is ok with a buffer system ( you will come across two waiters a young lad and a short man possibly with a tash, be careful of the short chap he may get u annoyed, if u are on half or full board he will ask u for your room number to tick u off the list so the they could claim the money back from the tour operators, the problem is he ask for the room number at least 5 times as he forgets, so don’t get annoyed. Always give the tip to the young lad as he does all the hard work whilst the short chap orders him around however its ok to give tips to the short chap as he may at times give you extra service and be over helpful. The food is ok but has a lot of French recipes.

Clean areas and very nice personel even if we hade to remind to get new towels.. *smile*
Fun activities by the pool every day and my kids loved it... me too.
Recomend a visit to Kantaoui... soooo nice there.
