Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva

Stayed at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva for 2 nights over the New Year 2007/08 We had the welcome 2008 package, which consisted of 2 nights Bed and Breakfast, room upgrade, and an evening meal on New Years Eve. Our room was upgraded to a deluxe room, but we requested a downgrade to a smaller room but with a partial lake view. The staff were all very polite and efficient and happy to help. After a long journey, I arrived at the hotel at 2AM, only to be put in a room without a view, after booking a room with a view to the lake. I had to complain to be put in the right room, which is uncomfortable, to say the least. And the view was nothing special, after all.

The Kempinski is almost perfect.... which for the prices they charge is to be expected. I was lucky enough to get a deluxe room, i.e. bigger than average with a sofa and 2 TVs and it was was easily one of the best rooms I've ever stayed in. You can tell it's only just been re-opened, the overall design is great. It's really got that 'modern' 70s feel to it, including the restaurant, which was excellent. But why not 5 stars. Mum & I have just come back from a weekend in Geneva & would definitely recommend the Kempinski. The hotel was offering weekend rates so it only cost us about £150 for the 2 of us B&B. And what a breakfast it was, there was something for everyone, cereals, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, bacon & eggs etc as well as pastries, waffles and meringues with cream & chocolate sauce. We were extremely lucky to have chosen this wonderful hotel, the location of the hotel is excellent, directly on the lake where we can enjoy the beautiful view from our rooms. The reception of the hotel is huge and very relaxing with many jewellery boutiques, A pharmacy and Montale perfume shop. There were three restaurants with a wonderful range of cuisines and a day spa. This hotel can not be beat! It is a beautiful property. Location is great. Service impeccable! If you can afford it...do it!

Although we only had a one night stay at this hotel, as it was part of a road trip in Europe, it was definitely one of the best hotels we stayed in. Although a little pricey, it was well worth the money. I believe it was 890CHF (approx. 370GBP). We opted for a lake view room and was allocated on the 6th floor. From here we had a direct view of the Jet d'Eau fountain, the Alps and Mont Blanc. i recently stayed at the Kempinski hotel for a week, although I was there for a meeting, i extended as I was truly enjoying my stay..the view over the lake was just wonderful, espically from the 02nd floor restaurants..... the staff were very helpful and always willing to help.... the location of the hotel is also quite convenient as it is just 5 mins away from the main railway station and around 15-20 mins from the Airport..... The rooms look quite sophisticated after the refurbishment...and I think i would definetely go back in the near... more

I just returned from a 5 nights stay at this wonderful hotel. Especially the "2nd floor" is really great. You can have breakfast sitting outside with a view over the lake Geneve, which is really great. I also loved the bar with its different style, there is a DJ on weekends and there are always lots of people. Also the rooms are very nice, I had a standard room, which was newly renovated with plasma screen and I liked especially the bathroom, which was spacious and very clean. I checked in on the 29th August and stayed for 5 nights and had a wonderful stay. The staff through to management looked after me very nicely. The hotels Breakfast was fantastic and so was the bar, which had a lively atmosphere. I definitely recommend to someone who is on business.
