Submitted By: XXXPOWERMarhaba Royal Salem Hotel is 30 minits walk down the beach from sousse or take a taxi witch are cheap about 3 dennar witch is about £1.50 .
Or you can go to Port El kantaoui witch about 1 hour up the beach or again in a taxi for about 4 dennar thats about £2.00 to £2.50.
Beware of the beach sellers they can be a bit pushy as can be the shops with no fixed prices just say no thank you and walk away and try to keep your cool just remember that Africa is poor and they try very hard to make money .

Submitted By: Mrs J FlintI was very pleasantly suprised by the hotel. Great plus points being:
1) Maid service was fantastic (even made shapes out all out nightwear, especially the kids).
2) Waiter was superb, nothing was too much trouble. The head chef even made us a wedding anniversary cake FOR NOTHING!!! & it was delicious. The waiter even brought it up to our room with fruit etc as I was reeling from delly belly, typical on my anniversary and we were due to go home the next day!!!!
3) Lifeguards were excellent, made some really great friends there. Always got us loungers, even if it was nearly lunchtime!! Keiz, your a great bloke & thanks for the laughs!!!
4) Hotel staff were very helpful. We needed to switch rooms, and it was done within a day!
5) Animation team (Moo Moo) & co were great and had the kids and adults singing and dancing
6) Tunisian people are great to be around and fantastic with kids, my 2 boys had loads of fun with the lifeguards, animation team and waiters etc.
7) Hotel is ideally situated within easy distance of both Sousse & Port El Kantaoui (just watch yourself if you ride on a tuk tuk)!
8) The Marina in Port El Kantaoui is beautiful place, definately worth a visit.
9) You really can grab yourself loads of bargains, Leather goods etc if you dsont mind a bit of friendly haggling but not in the Medina (try the Soula Centre, Government run shop)
DOWN SIDES:
1) In the Medina you can get hassled!!
2) Food choices in the reaturant could have often done with being more varied, especially if you have kids.
2) Freddy (the lech) who you will most defiantely be introduced to in the reception area after your welcome meeting will take you on some strange trip making out it is wonderful and there will be bargains, but really he takes you to a big carpet place and they give you the hard sell!!
3) Entertainment on an evening could be better. Animation team do a good job but if your there for 2 weeks it gets a bit boring.
Overall I loved mostly everything about this holiday and will definately be back. If you fancy trying something out of the norm, then give this a go. After all Spain is Spain and personally we got sick of it.

Submitted By: Miss E Quarmby1. If you are All Inclusive be prepared for the worst service you have ever received. The only good service we were given was by the maids and animation team.
2. Food BORING.
3. Hotel itself looks nice/ok but you will most probably get lost a few times.
4. The beach outside the hotel was kept clean, walk 10m either side and its filthy.
5. You are basically made to feel embarrassed that you are All Inclusive, to the point where I wouldn't go to the bar. This poor service is reception, bar tenders and waiters alike!
6. Tunisia is not a very pretty country really so don't be expecting fantastic photos.
7. The Irish Bar around the corner is good for sports and music but it’s not very Irish, as its run by Tunisians that really understand the whole Irish theme. The drinks are very, very expensive.

Submitted By: Miss A GregoryGood bar not over priced, food good so long as u aren’t very picky, nice staff, very helpful.
Good beach, really poo deckchairs - iron old ones!! Lots of loungers round the pool even when we got up at lunchtime! You can use all facilities from sister hotels next door, all pools etc which are fab and have good lifeguards which is a rarity abroad. Watch out for jellyfish in sept - they are big.
Sousse centre I didn't find amazing but a short hop in a really cheap taxi to port el Kantaoui is fab, nice harbour, nice food, great musical fountains in colour, even had a small theme park for the kids at night.
Good bars - especially Irish bar if you can find it. Beware of market in Sousse on Saturdays as they sell live animals - chickens and turkeys that don’t look very nice, and worse still the butchers with sheep’s and bulls heads above the counter and ones they have skinned ready to boil on the counter - not nice smell and you get surrounded by some pretty shifty locals if you stop trying to buy something! Otherwise local’s are nice and helpful.
Would go back again, would just rather stay up the road in port el Kantaoui - much nicer really. Don’t listen to the nightmare stories of years ago - try for yourself and kids, the Tunisians love the kids and really make sure they have a good time.

Submitted By: Mrs D KellyFood was very good, lots of variety, hot and cold, fresh, plentiful. Having had breakfast (including omelet’s and crepes freshly made to order with choice of fillings) we ate very little else till dinner, though the complex had bars/snack bars at various places which served good quality, reasonably priced snacks and drinks. Bottle of good, local wine served at dinner table only 10 dinar (£4). Our waitress, Miriam, was very friendly and helpful.
3 pools of different sizes and facilities, all clean, lots of sunbeds. Also the complex has private beach area, lovely soft white sand, sea was warm and clear.
Entertainment very good, team was multi national, multi lingual, very enthusiastic and friendly, lots of activities during the day for all ages and varied shows every night. Also a nightclub in the complex which we went to once seemed very good.
The whole complex really included everything needed for a good holiday if all you want to do is chill out, sunbathe and swim. Also a small shop, and a supermarket at the gates of the complex, hairdresser, tattooist, masseur, gym, indoor pool and probably other things too.
The complex is in between Sousse and Port el Kantaoi, both worth a visit - especially the old Medina in Sousse (8th century)-climb the Ribat (tower) for great views of the city and sea. Lots of taxis (cheap), also a noddy train, horse and carriages and tuk tuks so plenty of choice of transport.
Can't find anything to fault, it was a great holiday and we'll definitely be going back. Weather was great too.

Submitted By: alisjamesMe and my friend had a wonderful time- the weather was gorgeous, the hotel staff very friendly, and the locals couldn’t have been nicer.
Unfortunately, I fell ill (due to a pre-existing condition) and required lots of medical treatment- all of the staff from the manager to the cleaners looked after me, making sure I was drinking enough, and kept me entertained with their stories about the local area. I was very sad to leave.
The only advice I could give is to smile, and be cheeky back to the locals, and you really couldn’t choose a better place to relax and explore- and don’t forget a camel ride- it was amazing!
There was only one member of staff I didn’t feel comfortable around, and I was told before I went that, as a young women, I would be harassed day and night. But, I am ashamed today, that person was not a Tunisian, who have a very bad (undeserved) reputation.
Anyway, enjoy, and don’t believe all you read about Muslim countries for women!

Submitted By: Mr EL ErlingHowever: We hated the “All inclusive” concept, the way they ran it, and I don’t think we have ever been so irritated on a vacation before – ever. From day one we had the feeling that we already had paid, so there was absolutely only a minimum of service to us – we really were treated as second rate guests.
1) The term “All Inclusive” should actually describe what we have bought and paid for: an all-inclusive hotel. But no way was it so. In the beach bar the only inclusive things were a boring piece of “day’s pizza” or chips. There were about 20 things to eat on the map – but none of them were covered by “all inclusive” – and even those 2 rather lousy things could only be obtained after 12:00. In the garden snack bar it was almost the same – though there were some extra choices like cake, ice and sandwich’s. However you could only get something to eat on “all inclusive” after 15:00. Point is: this was by most a “Full pension +” – there were so many things you couldn’t get, that it was kind of “a bit of it inclusive”.
2) The hotel runs a policy saying “one card / one drink” or “one card / one “something eatable”. This means you get in the line, order a cup of coffee and something to eat with the coffee – but you are not allowed to do that! First you can get the drink, go down to your chair, wait 5 minutes, go back in the line again, and order coffee for your drink. This is incredible stupid and irritating. It feels like you just have to stand in line all the time and everybody get’s irritated. It’s like the main target is to get the tourist’s who already paid to eat for 1 Dinar less pr day by making it a big problem to get what you want – instead of making the visitors so happy, they come back next year.
3) When you buy a beer (paying) you get 0,5 litre. When you use “all inclusive cards” you get something in between 0,25 and 0,3 l. This mean you have to run and get in line again and again. And it really shows that they really don’t care for us, who paid in advance.
4) The snack bar only opened for “all inclusive food” between 1500 and 1800. Nevertheless I came in to have a piece of cake and a cup of coffee around 17:45 – 17:50. But they wouldn’t serve me because they claimed the time was over 1800 (I then said some bad words, went to the café by the reception to get coffee – where I could see the reception watch showing 17:52). It’s unacceptable.
5) I stood in the line at the beach bar. 2 before me – two after. The first one after me carried a 10 Dinar note – all others had cards. So the waiter moved from behind the desk, went back the line, took the 10 Dinar, went back – and served that guy first! Talk about second rate people. But let me remind you again: We paid too – we just did it from home!
6) In the snack bar you got wine from a real wine glass if you paid on the spot. We – who had cards – had wine in lousy, small plastic glasses. It’s just so irritation and humiliating again.
7) The cards themselves were a rather irritating solution. You have to carry them all the time; the waiters almost every time had problems with the reading / registration.
Proposals:
a) Treat people decent and equal. They should please all customers so we come back instead of annoying the “all inclusive” customers.
b) Make a real all inclusive solution or dump the whole thing. It’s extremely irritating to buy something that turns out to be seriously limited: Don’t do the things in a half way. Same food, same glasses, same treatment all the way. Better to raise the price a few Dinars/day than to make people constantly irritated.
c) If they keep the all-inclusive, change to armbands instead of cards. Much easier and much quicker.
My conclusion is clear: As long as I’m treated second rate, I’m not going back to the hotel even though it’s rather nice and the beach is terrific. I won’t spent holiday time on being irritated.

Submitted By: Mr L StapyltonThe staff are fantastic, the food is great, weather is good (never had a rainy day yet, touch wood).
I'm so glad that there's a lot of excellent reviews on here because the staff deserve it. Frankly, I cannot see them being rude to people (apart from when people look at them, or treat them as second class citizens!!).
The entertainment staff do their jobs extremely well, and I have got to know them really well, and they are partially responsible for people like me going back as they make everyone feel welcome.
Yes, the food is quite repetitive, but so what. They put a lot of effort into the food and there is something for everyone. I notice that someone mentions the orange juice giving everyone who drinks it an upset tummy.... it's freshly squeezed and believe it or not, it acts like a laxative (most fresh citrus drinks do this!!), which has nothing to do with the hotel. If you don't want to spend hours on the loo, then don't drink it!
The beach is lovely, and the beach cafe does the best steak I've ever had.
They have built a salt water pool on the complex with water slides which is great for kids and even adults.
There is a lot of Russians who stay here and they do generally come across as rude but that's actually the way they carry themselves. On speaking to a few of them, they are really quite nice, although, I will admit, they are a bit pushy when it comes to getting their meals.
The evening entertainment is good, very amateur, but it raises a hell of a laugh watching moomoo, zoozoo, noonoo and co doing cabaret. And of course, there's the bingo (which I am yet to win, but my time will come!!)
Beer's ok, not very strong, but it's not a very big drinking culture over there. If you want to have a good drink, it's usually best to buy a bottle of wine between 2 people, as this is usual strength of about 12/13% and it cost the equivalent of about £4, so you can have a good cheap night on the wine.
Well, there's a lot more I could add, but see for yourself.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Submitted By: Miss J PerkinsThe staff are very friendly and helpful. everyone made us feel very welcome and remembered us from our previous stay. We had fresh flowers in our room which was cleaned everyday also clean towels and linen.
The waiters in the restaurant made us feel like VIPs’ and the food is reasonable but you have to pay for any drinks with your evening meal.
The animation team gave us a holiday to remember and are constantly there to entertain day and night they are very good at what they do and work very hard.
Rami answered any questions we had and is a really lovely guy. He is very funny and a great dancer all the guests love him and he is brilliant with the kids. Zu zu too is great at his job and very helpful if you stay here you have to try the water gym with him its very good fun. Sahbi is good in the shows and looks good in a dress.
The hotel manager and reception staff are also very friendly. If you visit the complex night club you will enjoy a great selection of music with firas a fantastic dj who also made us feel very welcome. We miss them all and will be going back soon.
