Aug 2005, Mrs S E Lewis

We went on this holiday as a party of 12 (3 families) Our overall opinion was good. The hotel on arrival (!am) seemed a little dismal but we were all tired and needed rest.
The next day and certainly as the holiday went on the hotel took on a new emphasis for us. Although the decor may need a little up dating the hotel staff certainly made up for this making us feel very cared for and safe. We had a problem with two of the rooms but the hotel manager upgraded them to the Royal Salem free of charge without hesitation.
The food and restaurant staff were great, my husband and I were celebrating our Silver wedding while out there and they made a special cake and decorated our dinning table, it was beautiful(free of charge) wouldn’t get that in England!!. The Animation Team was brilliant at their jobs and interacted with people with great enthusiasm. We would return to this resort and probably stay at the Royal. The beach and gardens belonging to the hotels are well cared for the beach staff were extremely helpful especially as one of our party was stung by a fish and they took him in their car to the Pharmacy where he needed a injection. So so helpful.
Some comments that we read before leaving left us feeling a little uneasy, having been (and I expect good standards )I can assure people that you will have a great time, It is very hot in August and when you go remember you are in Africa and not a European Country. Enjoy the culture, visit Monastir, Port Al Kantoui enjoy your holiday.

Jun 2005, Mr PS Sherratt

We booked on the Internet through med hotels and saved about £400 on the package price compared to Portland Direct. You could have HB for an extra £13 per week but this disappeared from the website a couple of days before we booked so we went BB.
The hotel was clean, had good sporting facilities and the breakfast choice was always the same but it was good.
The hotel staff was friendly and efficient apart from the restaurant manager.
For some reason nearly all of the tables are reserved which means you cannot find anywhere to sit even when the restaurant is half empty! I complained to the restaurant manager but he insisted we should wait for him to find us a table each morning while most of the guests have a table reserved. It took a complaint to the general manager and further insistence with the restaurant manager before we were reserved a table. He sulked from then on.
The hotel has its own beach but you will be hassled to take camel rides. Likewise if you go past the pool and gym you will be hassled to take a massage.
In Souse complete strangers will pretend that they have met you in your hotel and attempt to take you on a tour or into the shops. "Remember me I am a waiter at your hotel."
When you leave your taxi they have approached the driver and asked which hotel you came from. So they do know.
Eating out in Souse do expect the bill to incorrect every time especially if you select fish by weight. The excuse is always "Sorry it was meant for another table."
Despite all this we did have a good holiday.

Oct 2004, Mr A Horobin

We are 2 adults and 2 boys age 15 and 11. We had an absolutely great time here, the whole experience of our first trip to Africa was memorable.
The hotel complex was extremely luxurious, rooms were large, exceptionally clean and the towels were changed daily. The staff at the hotel without fail, work very hard to ensure you have a good time there and are always cheerful, helpful and very polite. We had no problem finding 4 sunbeds every day but maybe that’s because we slipped the pool attendant a few dinars here and there! (This works everywhere else as well, both inside and outside the hotel.) The only thing which we feel could be improved perhaps is giving the kids a better choice of their kind of food. Oh and by the way, if you have a sense of humour you’ll have no problems with the locals either. We had plenty of good natured banter with them and we still can’t believe just how much they made us feel welcome. On many occasions, people young and old just came up to us, shook our hands and said ‘Welcome to Tunisia, Have a nice holiday,’ before turning round and going on their way.
A fantastic country, fabulous people and a brilliant hotel. We would recommend a holiday here to anyone.

Spent 2 weeks at this hotel on arriva my family and I were impressed on entering the hotel stunning layout in reception and bar area the glass lifts in the middle were brilliant grandson loved to go up and down in them the rooms were very spacious queen size bed wow ....always cleaned daily. Monica the cleaner was very helpful and attentive restaurant was spacious and bright the choice of food could have been better did not cater much for children but in all good. Was disappointed with outdoor pool it was very small for a 4 star hotel we had to use pool at sister hotel Marhaba Salem 3star hotel. also sunbeds were gold dust if you managed to get one you would have to get up early i.e. 6.30 to secure one hotel grounds were spacious and well maintained although more lighting around grounds is needed. the animation /entertainment team were brilliant .many thanks to them for making our holiday enjoyable. Great bunch of guys who work so hard day and night all in all we had a great time and would gladly return

Lovely Hotel with Glass lifts in the...

Aug 2004, Miss L Martin

Lovely Hotel with Glass lifts in the middle. The bedrooms were very spacious and the bed was huge, nicely decorated and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the waiters/waitresses work very hard. The food was good, although I would say not alot of choice for children. In august you will find the complex accommodates 70% Russians who are very rude ( pushing), impatient ( jump the queues) and reserve all the sun beds!!!!!! also a lot of Germans and Italians.
Inside pool was lovely but disappointed with the outdoor swimming pool as it was tiny, had to use the Marhaba Salem’s ( sister Hotel) pool, which was 3 star, I feel needs to be updated.
The entertainment team ( moo- moo, nu- nu, la la and Rashid) were brilliant, they work day and night keeping guests entertained with a different selection of games, activities for all ages. Would definitely return again, had brilliant time.
