Excellent hotel
Just come back from a 4 night stay at the Linden tree and had an excellent stay. In line with other reviews, I can't believe the negative comments posted earlier and to do justice to the hotel I have posted some pictures of our room and bathroom. The location, hotel, staff and food would take some beating. And with locations such as Alnwick gardens etc just up the road this is an ideal location to tour the delights of Northumberland.
Can't believe the negative comments.
Have stayed at this hotel several times. We have returned time and time again because we found the staff exceptional ,nothing is too much bother. From the receptionist to the waiters in the dining room, and the barman in the Linden pub. All the rooms we have stayed in were beautifully decorated and the food is first class. I have never had a buffet breakfast all the food is served individually. Don't be put off with the negative comments it is one of our favourite hotels and we have stayed all over the world in some beautiful hotels and... more
Too good to be true!!
We stayed at Linden on a Friday (29th Sept), and our stay was the result of a not too good a stay at one of their other hotels. Our room overlooked the golf course(239) and was exceptional. The Dobson restaurant was excellent, and from arriving in reception to leaving on the Saturday we couldn't have asked for more. The staff were extremely courteous and not too instrusive, which is why we are puzzled to one of the reviews on Trip Advisor also from September, did these clients actually stay at Linden Hall.We can't comment on the spa... more
Posh Hotel at the front, tatty Motel at the back
Where to start ? A disaster from start to finish! Firstly, I booked via the internet several days before our intended stay. I rang just one day before to ensure that we got a non-smoking room as my preference was not requested on the website. The receptionist said "Ah - I was hoping you'd contact us as the booking's just come through and we are full, and there was no contact details on the computer print-out". After much wrangling, they rang back later in the day to say they could accommodate us in a "Superior" twin room rather than a... more
Special and fantastic!
This is the most gorgeous and relaxing hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff made us feel very special. We arrived two hours early for check in, the staff made us tea and told us when our room was ready, even going as far as to get the key for us. The room was lovely and the beauty facilities were excellent. (I had a facial and a massage) There is a pub in which you can have dinner, which is brilliant, as very often I feel out of place in the posh restaurants! I just can't fault our stay, other than it just wasn't long... more
really enjoyed our stay
We booked a three night break, in a suite, and overall our stay was fantastic. We loved the restaurant - without exception the meals were excellent, varied, and interesting, and the staff were always very polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a buffet and what you would expect. Our suite had an amazing view out over the lovely grounds, which were a pleasure to walk in. The suite itself was spacious and very relaxing. Bed was a king and very comfy. Downstairs the lounge felt luxurious and the whole effect of this hotel was to... more
overall a nice hotel
we stayed at the Linden Hall on a 3 nights for 2 deal. We last stayed there in July 2003. As before, we were impressed by the standard of food and service in the Dobson restaurant. The chef has imagination and flair. One evening however, there was a hiccup when our order was not taken while we enjoyed an aperitif out on the terrace. However, staff were keen to remedy this once we presented ourselves at the dining room. Breakfast service was also efficient and food well prepared. As before, we found the room quite small. We... more
OK but has potential to be so much better
Linden Hall has potential to be one of Britain's better spa hotels, but sadly our experience has proved otherwise. Newly refurbished, Linden Hall is a small hotel set in magnificent 450 acres of park and woodland. So why is the lift a clankering 60s contraption covered in dark brown wood veneer style formica? That was our first indication that all is not well. As we followed the signs to our room, we noticed how each room is named after a lady's name. Erm, why? It adds nothing to the character or the experience. In fact, on entering... more
Disappointing stay
Stayed at this hotel in february 2004 with our two children and my parents (fathers 70th birthday). Impressive location, and was assured children were very welcome but not allowed in restuarant after 8pm. Arrived at hotel on the friday, and our family room was fine, but my parents was in a part of the hotel that was beeing decorated. Rooms opposite them had no doors and were full of rubble, and a total re-wire was being carried out. Also workmen were walking around in the evening with buckets of paint! After complaining to... more
