We had never been to Tunisia before and didn't know what to expect. When we got to the Rosa Beach it was beautiful. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the rooms were so clean. My sons enjoyed the two weeks we were there. The eldest enjoyed the beach volley ball as well as the water polo everyday. My youngest son enjoyed the kids club and they both met loads of friends. The entertainment throughout the day was amazing and the entertainers were fantastic. It was worth every penny we spent on the holiday and we would definitely go back. It was brilliant to meet so many people from different countries and we have made friends with a Belgian family who we intend to keep in touch with.

Please note that you are reading my opinion only. Some will agree some will not.
If you want a holiday that you are willing to be ripped off, this is the Hotel for you. If you want to pay an extra 2d (nearly £1) to have a drink of water with your evening meal that you have paid for with the half board deal, again this is the Hotel for you. If you want to book a trip that turns out nothing like it was explained, this is the Hotel for you. If you want an expensive Hotel that ignores you for the Germans and others, this is the hotel for you. If you want to relax either on the grounds, by the pool or on the beach with no open bar, this is the Hotel for you.
So if you are looking for a Hotel that will provide you with the following:
I rep that shows you pictures of the trip he is selling you containing a pictures of a nice blue coach with a photo of the passengers at the door smiling, a picture of the camels that you ride on and the group enjoying their meal. Then you find out when you go that the nice blue coach is an old pick up truck, the camel ride is ok after you are fitted with the headdress than charged 5d (about £2) for it. Then to top it all you pass the place where they live to see they have tied the two front legs of a donkey together and hitting with a stick to make it walk. The meal was no meal, it was bread tasting that you watch being made. For the very small drink you were charged a further 2d.
Waiters that pretend not to understand what you want to order.
Provides you with entertainment that you have never seen before and never want to see again.
Most of your food cold.
Miles from anywhere.
If this is what you are really looking for I will recommend this Hotel 100%.
If you are looking for a holiday that gives you value for money and a decent holiday than I would say look elsewhere.

Our experience in Tunisia was fantastic!
We went for a relaxing beach holiday and Skanes is just the place for that. The weather was extremely hot reaching around 48 degrees, the hotel is directly on the beach so you have option of lazying around the pool or sunning it on a beatuiful beach, with plenty of watersports.
The hotel was lovely and kept very clean with cleaners coming in every day to change towels etc.. Food was average though but plenty of it. Entertainment was ok especially for the kids. It finished quite early but that was ok as you could stay around the pool and have plenty to drink.
You would be harrassed quite a lot to book trips or buy things, but I think that is in their nature.
Skanes is around a five minute drive in to Monistar so if you wanted to explore you would have the option. The hotel is next to the airport but honestly you didn't really notice that much.
Overall our holiday was brilliant and I would recommend this to families and couples wanting a relaxing enjoyable break. I would definately go back!

On arriving in Tunisia the first thing we noticed was the cleanliness. It was immaculate. The hotel itself was a slightly daunting prospect as it is touching shoulders with Monastir airport.
However the hotel was absolutely amazing, anyone wishing to come on a relaxing holiday this is the place to do it. HB food was definitely good value and I’m glad I never went all inclusive as people were complaining about the drinks being only Tunisia’s own, and were only served from 3-10pm not really worth the money! The food was fantastic, even for kids as we had a 1 year old boy at the time who loved the range of delicacies. The weather was unbelievably hot but unnoticeable when windy so be warned.
The rooms were spacious and the air conditioning really helped. The staff in the hotel were amazing the rep's entertained all day everyday (don’t know where they got the energy). Be warned though, you are not allowed to take food and drink in other than that from the hotel and the hotel is rather expensive. We were caught smuggling vodka in the hotel and had it confiscated till our departure (boring). But never the less it was a cracking holiday.
Do take note that this is only for a relaxing holiday people wanted a lively holiday look again, even though there is a nightclub in the hotel it is pretty poor. Even though it looked attractive from the outside.
I would definitely return though, for a relaxing holiday.
Bad value for Tunisia and extras...

Bad value for Tunisia and extras are expensive so going full board not as good value as going to a hotel offering all inclusive.
Like many Tunisian hotels find difficulty with English residents and tend to have bias towards Germans, French and now Russians.
Food acceptable for lunch and dinner but breakfast poor by any other Tunisian hotels standard. Non - stop entertainment but get your German/ French handbook as not geared towards the English. Mealtimes a bit like the school canteen at a 60's co-ed and the 'entertainment 'staff a real pain yelling bon apetito non-stop! Waiters indifferent and have an ability to lose your opened bottle of wine which at £6.50 minimum is a rip off and not particularly wonderful. Headwaiter has a serious attitude problem, which is reflected in the majority of staff higher than cleaners. Cleaner’s lovely and work very, very hard.
Rooms are comfortable and adequate and linen changed regularly.
Poor position in respect of the beach and water very, very shallow so swimming virtually impossible - but good if you want to paddle. The pool is average and usually crowded.
Take mosquito killer as they are plentiful and have a wicked bite lasting many uncomfortable days.
Water is a must have but at a £1 a bottle somewhat expensive.
There’s a brilliant 'spa' facility which is extremely good value though at times its warmer outside than in the Turkish bath - however the staff are helpful and relatively flexible and all treatments are very good value.
Although 4* HAVE STAYED AT BETTER AND WITH BETTER VALUE. Its worth the extra to go all inclusive at the Emir Palace and even better value at the Skanes Garden where the food and beach are far superior.
Having now stayed at 2 Med Hotels in skanes - the other being the Liberty - they are O.K. for 7 days but to attract the British Market need to do a lot more if they are to have any credibility. There is a great marketing opportunity for the group but they need to re-think their strategies or it’s unlikely that they will make any worthwhile indent into the British market in the foreseeable future. 4* this hotel may say it is but the reality isn’t always there or substantiated.
