Received very good service and an excellent holiday with First Choice. As soon as we got there we were made very welcome by the holiday rep and she was extremely helpful.
The hotel was very good and again we received excellent service from the staff there. It had an outdoor swimming pool with lots of space for sunbathing and to enjoy food and drink from the poolside bar.
Situated right next to the sea and not far away from a good beach. The hotel was in a brilliant location. There is also plenty of shopping for the day and bars for the night.
First Choice also offered a wide variety of excursions, including a day cruise around Malta - stopping at Blue Lagoon, probably one of the prettiest places you may see - and a bar crawl, which were not extortionately priced.
Overall, a fantastic holiday would definitely go back and with First Choice.

I stayed at the Qawra Palace from New Years Eve 07 until Mon 14 Jan.2008 I found the hotel to be very clean although a bit tired.
The towels were changed and rooms cleaned daily with bed linen changed a couple of times a week. Staff were very friendly in reception. The lady who cleaned floor two was fantastic, very friendly, and helpful with a great command of the English language. Entertainment was good as there was something to do every day and every evening.
We were kept amused by Bill with the bowls both short mat and Bocci, as well as quizzes and whatever else he could dream up at short notice, thanks Bill it was great fun. John and Hilary kept us busy with dance lessons, evening dancing, aerobics and indoor golf as well as Bingo.
Meals were adequate and we found something we liked every night.
We also overlooked the courtyard and due to the low floor it did make our room a bit dark in addition to the energy saving bulbs this did make reading difficult, however I imagine in the summer these rooms would be a welcome break from the hot sun. I admit there area a lot of guests who are there on long stay holidays and feel it is 'their hotel' however that feeling is from the guests not the staff.
Our waiting staff in the restaurant Esther and Albert were very good and arranged tables and cleared away with great speed to ensure smooth flow of their section.
Overall I had a smashing time in Malta and at the qawra palace. This was my first visit to the island and I will go back. Qawra has a bus station close to the hotel making the entire island accessible.

I stayed at the Hotel Qwara Palace in August 2007, I found it to be a great hotel. The food was good and most of the staff were freindly especially Charlie. The entertainment was good and location excellent.
The only thing I found wrong was the corridors are very dark and it is difficult to see any spillage on the floor and on my twelve night of my holiday I slipped on a wet patch which was not visible and unfortunately suffered a fractured hip and had to spend two weeks in hospital, so please be very careful.

This is a four star hotel, but the room was not to that standard - more like a Travelodge.
The location is its selling point - fantastic! Right by the sea, and you can sit by the pool looking at the sea, and it's like being on the deck of a cruise ship!
The food is fine. The problem is with the service in the restaurant. It was like Fawlty Towers. Nearly every meal time we had to ask for a table to be laid, and the waiters are only there to lay tables and clear away (and the dishes pile up on the table).
The restaurant is basically highly disorganised, but again, the food itself is fine.
If you want four star - don't go here, but if you just want a holiday in a nice location, then it's worth a try. We didn't use the entertainment, but it was provided. Lots of lovely shops nearby, and if you like walking, lovely walk. Also, not too far from the bus station.

A 4 star hotel that is only worth at the most 1 star. It was filthy all over except for the reception area. The staff were very helpful but unable to improve on the facilities provided.
The food selection was very poor and repetitive.
Also it was very noisy after midnight all over the hotel. This was due to bookings from schools for teenager students who were allowed to go clubbing all night and return to wake all the other guests in the very early morning.
I consider that the management should have done something about the matter.

After reading the reviews posted on this Hotel, it was with some trepidation that my wife and I travelled to Qawra.
The reality was that it was a superb hotel with wonderful staff and plenty of facilities. The food was excellent and varied ( we did not have a single repeat meal in two weeks).
The bedroom was small but beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean.
The pool area was always clean, sunbeds and umbrellas in good condition and plenty to go round. The toilets were all immaculate.
The entertainment was, on the whole, excellent if a bit "samey".
We had a wonderful fortnight and will be booking again with the same company at the same time next year.

The hotel amenities were excellent. The food was very good.
Our only complaint would be about the hotel management and in particular one manager. Our stay was from 6th Nov to 13th Nov2007 and we were forced to make a complaint on our second night. In fact we had got dressed at approx 1am to complain about loud banging and shouting.
We went down to the reception to ask to speak to the manager. When he finally arrived he was arrogant and aggressive. When we explained the situation, his answer was "what do you want me to do about it". We also complained to our reps (Thomas Cook) who informed us that several complaints have been made by other guests. His answer to them was as it was to us.
The group making the noises were Italian school girls and this noise continued throughout our stay sometimes until 3am.
For this reason and this reason only, we will never go back to the hotel and will not recommend it to anyone.
Pity really as the hotel was very pleasant, and the other staff were very nice.

As always with these things "beauty (or otherwise) is in the eye of the beholder".
I've read most of the reviews and having been there now believe they all are correct - including those that conflict!
There was both rudeness and great help at Reception and the Cashier. The food was both OK and awful (especially the meats which were usually tough) and always dished out like an old-fashioned workers canteen. Staff worked hard to keep the place clean but fittings were sometimes filthy (check the air conditioning grills, look behind the drawers / dressing table, look at back of taps in bathroom (dont look behind the lavatory pan!) - Not being picky, just basic hygiene.
The lobby is good, the pool area is very good, and the coffee bar excellent but the rest of the place (including the bedrooms seen) is shabby, dilapidated, run down in desperate need of a make-over.
There were hundreds of folk in their 80s who were obviously having a wonderful time
But others weren't especially those on the inside with yet another party (90) of screaming adolescent Italian girls who communicate by shouting across from one courtyard balcony to another - preferably at 2 in the morning!
If you want a cheap place to stay for 4 or 8 weeks where you can meet lots of other folks who dont mind a bit of rough and ready and who like carpet bowls and bingo, line dancing and ballroom, you might find this place OK but you can almost certainly find other places with the same facilities, cheaper and better presented.
If you're not at this stage of life then think seriously about going elsewhere - there is no shortage of alternatives.
It’s Ok if you are prepared to put up with the not OK bits of which there are many. In my book you shouldn't have to and in Malta you dont have to - so don’t!

As others have said we were a bit worried about the reviews for the hotel but me and my husband had a lovely time here. Food was good with plenty of choice.
The room was very basic but that doesn't matter at the end of the day you are only sleeping in it.
Malta is a lovley place to visit, Gozo good day trip out we missed out on Cominio Bay thanks to rainy/windy weather.
Resort a bit quiet for bars and things but with bad weather it didn't matter we never do hotel entertainment so cannot comment on that.

First time we have stayed at this hotel in Malta, the reception area is quite pleasant well air-conditioned, staff a very friendly polite and helpful.
The restaurant is clean and food well presented. The breakfast is the same food every day know variation, if you want toast be prepared to wait toasters are slow.
The room air condition did not work well, once reported maintenance fix it, be prepared they do not clean the mess up when finished plus they left the television on to listen to music which I thought was rude.
The girl from England who looked after Kieran as well as other children in the afternoon was a pleasure. Pity you could not say the same for the Maltese play leader she could not be bothered.
The hotel reception is noisy on a night as we gathered that parents leave there children unattended, The swimming pool area is good but you have to pay for the sun lounge mattress otherwise you can sit on the plastic no good if you have back problems, but then by the end of the day you end up with them. To sit near the sea you have to pay 2.50 lr a day, even though it is common land.
The hotel charge you for the sun lounge. The jacuzzi very good till yobs decided to go in with pint glasses full of drink supplied by the attendant who collects the money for the mattress and sea view loungers. Then poured it in to the Jacuzzi. He was very rude when I complained.
The overall view is it is a hotel I would visit again, Oh the rep, waste of time.
The rooms are comfortable towels changed every day cleaning is very good. They is a nice restaurant attached to the hotel. Reception staff are very well presented and courteous.
The transfer driver to and from the hotel excellent service. Malta has been one of our holiday resorts for years would recommend to anyone. The bus driver have never changed still rude as ever but it fun to watch. Hotel good value for money
Ps Don’t leave suitcases on the balcony the sprinkler came on and soaked them staff stood and watched. And did nothing then a male tourist jumped to the rescue and turned it round the other way.
