Me and my girlfriend both 20 went on this holiday thinking it was going to be rubbish, because of the reveiws on this website. Well what are you all talking about the hotel was brilliant!. The rooms were clean and cleaned every day with fresh towels and the maids were so freindly. The reception staff were great and the bar staff were also very good. We went Bed and breakfast and only tried the breakfast for me i didnt really like it but my girlfreind didnt mind, but everyone has their own tastes. The pool was very nice aswell very clean and there was always a member of staff around cleaning. The only problems i had was not really to do with the hotel. The first was there was about 300 french students staying in the hotel, they were an absolute pain up the backside! running around the hotel at stupid o'clock in the morning shouting knocking on doors but after about 50 guests including myself went down to reception to complain they got it sorted. And you will be pleased to know they have been banned from the hotel for life!. The second was there was a bus strike not two much of a problem but we wanted to go and site see and couldnt but nether mind.
This holiday was brilliant we were told malta was for old people they couldnt be more wrong!. They was a club called Fuego down the end of the road from the hotel open til 6 in the morning also in buggiba loads of bars and a club all within a 10 min walk from the hotel. I would advise going to st juilians loads of clubs was wicked!. I would just like to say we went with first choice and the rep was good but we went on a bar crawl with thomas cook which was brilliant and the rep was so good so Jo thankyou.
All in all if you want to go on holiday here dont listen to the crap reveiws about this hotel because they are all talking [--]!.

My partner and i have just returned from a 14 day trip staying at the qawara palace and felt compelled to comment. The hotel is dated and needs bringing up to date, although it is kept very clean. The rooms are serviced regularly and bedding and towels changed on a regular basis. (Be warned, if you do not have a seaview balcony your in for a real treat), the balconys are very small and narrow, and look out into rooms opposite, there is no privacy, the inner court yard does resemble a soviet block council estate!, having said that we did not go on holiday to stay on the balcony and put this aside. Dont go in July though as the hotel fills up with foreign students on holiday trips, we did have one night when things got a little out of hand and shouting etc started at midnight when security had to be called. This hotel is NOT CHILD FRIENDLY as there are very little activities for children to do. Dont forget to book your pool side lounger by placing your towel on the chosen lounger before going to breakfast, as it gets very crowded. There are much better pools further along the street, one has a water flume for the kids, and only cost a few euros per day. The bar is very expensive if you are not on a fully inclusive, the only beer on tap is Stella, on average the bar is twice the price of others in the local area, as you are paying to subsidise the all inclusive bar, The entertainment is rather well, if you dont like 50's and 60's then your stuck, you will find Elvis is alive and well and living in Malta.
David and Kevin in the restaurant are the friendliest staff within the hotel, so if your allocated section D you will be well looked after. In general the staff are helpfull but will not go out of there way to help. Do not change money at the hotel as the rates are low. Use the shop Vinyard next door to hotel as rate is a lot better. All in all not a bad hotel def not a 4* but a very good 3*
good luck and enjoy your holiday Malta is a fantastic place, a must do is the open top bus tour, great value for money 15 euros.

Having read some unfavourable comments I was a little aprehensive about our booking, however how wrong I was.
Our stay at the Qawra Palace was fantastic. The staff were unfailingly polite friendly and helpful, the food was very good with a wide variety to choose from and the rooms clean and well set out.
Can't wait for our next visit which I will book very shortly.

Hello All
Me too never right reviews but same as the last person I was a bit cautious when going due to the bad reviews, I went with just myself and partner. Hotel was excellent, maid service everyday, clean sheets 3 x week, clean towels daily. rooms very spacious with Air con(FREE),mini fridge loads of 4 sets of wardrobes plus a huge dressing table with deep draws and large mirror.
I have to say that we never spent anytime around the pool area as I like to sunbathe at the sea, what i did see though it was extremely busy, we spent 2 nights out of 14 watching entertainment and to be fair it was not my taste I like to walk around at night and see other venues. I could not fault the food, 14 evening meals and not one was duplicated, also I saw waiters bring food to children that had been specially made as we all know children like to be fussy. Overall excellent accommodation, I did ask for a low floor sea view, I got the low floor but no sea view but nothing to complain about.
Each to there own with entertainment and pool area. staff were helpful polite

we have just come back from our 2 weeks at the qwara palace there was 9 of us in our party inc my 2 year old son who absolutely loved our holiday.
i first read some of the reviews on here before we left and was a little worried but found that you should make up your own mind when you arrive.
we were allocated all our rooms next to each other which was nice, there was an extra bed in our room for our son,we also overlooked the courtyard which was a little dark but nice and quiet but like some others have commented you dont go on hols to sit on your balcony!!
our room was always clean ,maid was always good and helpful ,beds were a little uncomfortable and could do with updating, the t v channels are not english apart from news and one film channel whcih showed 2 english films a day but we hardly was in our room so this never bothered us.
food was nice i personally got a little bored of cooked breakfast everyday but there was nothing wrong with the food it was very nice, our waiters kevin and david in section d were excellent so friendly and helpful they loved my son and often come over to see him, whenever i asked for a kids meal it was brought immediately.
the only down side i can think of in the hotel was the lifts there is only 3 and were always full so waiting was a long time but the stairs were fine
we never used sunbedsd in hotel as found the shade was always taking up very early but for small fee right out near the sea can hire them and its lovely, the pool was sal****er but my 2 year old never had a problem with the salt so nor did we.
we only stayed for entertainment on few nights monday night was one as they have a singer Martin elvis who was so entertaining everyone enjoyed him def stay there for that, other than that we walked into local town buggibba and experinced a few places there.
i recommend hiring a car as the rest of the island beautiful and easier to get around as the buses are extremely full and hot!, we had an open top jeep with 9 of us in was extremely fun just to take care
mellieha bay is lovely if you have children as it has a beach for them to play and the water is so shallow and clear recommend visiting there definetely!!!
Weather was absolutely beautiful and hot everyday
i recommend you buy some swimshoes and some rocks can get slippy although my son never fell over i slipped once on the rocks and once walking down the small hill from buggibba as does get a little slippy so have to be careful but it never ruined our holiday
qwara palace does state 4* rating s but that is malta rating and there standards arent as high as ours are over here,
i would say only 3 * but as we only paid a couple of hundred each a week you cant complain and inc half board if you want gorgeous weather and somewhere thats clean and friendly with amazing places to visit and for 2 weeks relatively cheap
i recommend qwara palace and malta!!

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel all inclusive for 7 nights, it was our first holiday away from our children.
We were a bit cautious at first having read the bad reports, but i have to say to everyone make your own mind up and don't take to heart what everyone writes. We had a room facing into the courtyard and yes some of the balconies are quite close and you don't have a view, but i don't go on holiday to sit on my hotel balcony and if i do i am usually reading.
We never had a problem getting a sunbed, the pools are sal****er outside, so watch the eyes, staff were friendly, the room was clean.
Maids are up quite early to clean and can be quite noisy. Snacks and drinks at the pool bar were good, there is a counter just for all inclusive. There is a road between the hotel and the pool, but you can't see it fromt he pool area, you go underneath.
We had a lovely 7 nights together.

I do not usually leave reveiws, but after reading some of the reveiws from people who where at the hotel the same time as me I had to reply, they forgot to complaim that the sun was hot, the sea salty and the water wet, not forgetting the wind, then again it is known as the windy Island.
We had no complaints with the food, our 9 year old complained one and that was about the pizza, I really dont know where some of the people had the meals, but it is definately not bland, it is cooked Maltese style which is different to UK. which of course Costa del Blackpool and the Ballerics tend to copy, the food was great NO CHIPS.
As for the room, a bit tered a coat of paint will sort that out, Towels changed daily bed linen every three days.
The staff could not do enough to help, reception no problems, we ate in D section in the dining room David and Kevin they should get an award for there attitude and helpfulness.
To put this review in a nutshell, if you expect English food dont go if you accept Malta for what it is, Foreign then you will enjoy you holiday, dont believe what you read enjoy it, its fantastic.

We booked this hotel on the promise it was a 4 star hotel with kids entertaintment. In truth the hotel is a 2 Star with no kids entertainment. The rooms are worn with paint peeling, curtains torn, bed sheet with holes, bed matress dont fit the beds bases.( we did have one mattress that fitted but that got swopped while we were out for one that didnt?) small balconoy which over looks the square courtyard so every room looks out at the other rooms (imagine a prison). The hotels generator is also in the courtyard which echos around the courtyard all night. The staff were very impolite until the last day (tip day). The outdoor swimming pool is salt water. The bins and tables around the pool are only emptied at 5pm when the pool cleaner starts jet washing the sun terraces so you have to leave the pool area. The hotel has a night club that is open to non residents on a saturday night, expect vomit in the large vases. The days menu is advertised by the ballroom, which looks nice on paper but once you taste and see you will think in would be nicer to eat the paper. The flood lit tennis court is round the back of the hotel and seems to of been forgotten about. The crazy golf is in the communal court yard watch your toes because the metal plates are all bent and lifted up. Hey I just thought maybe thats the kids entertainment slicing there toes on the 6 golf holes (great game). The water sports ect is a seperate company that pitch up on the rocks by the sea, so grab your sunlounger and watch from there but take some euros because the pool man is waiting to charge you. If you have already booked i hope you do enjoy your holiday. best of LUCK.

Very dissappointed, no porters to help with your luggage,no service lift.Rooms basic with very narrow hard beds, very noisy (roof top generator that came on and off throughout the night.) The pool was dirty, sun terrace crowded (which you could not use before 8.30 in the morning). The food was well cooked and plentyful, but boring. The staff where brisk, but unsmilling, the warm friendly people I had been told about where missing. In my oppinion NOT a four star hotel.

This was the worst hotel that we have stayed in. We were a family of four adults plus toddler of two years. On arrival there was no bed in either room for the baby, we had to ask for one. One of the rooms stank of cigarette smoke. They did agree to have the curtains and bedspreads changed, this told me that the bedspreads are not changed automatically for new guests. The rooms were dirty, although the towels were changed everyday they were so thin that it wasn't easy to dry oneself after a shower. The sheets were only changed are eight days, but, then again after another four days.
The food was awful, how can you go wrong cooking bacon and eggs,? there were only two toasters and two juice machines, certainly not enough for the size of hotel. The tables were placed extremely close together. there was no provision for food for a two year old at all. Therefore my granddaughter had to make do with what we could find for her. and buying her main meal while we were out.
We found that the staff on reception were most unhelpful. We hired a remote control for the TV at a cost of 10 euros - refundable. However when we checked out at 3.30am I was only given 5 euros that being the cost hire so she said. When my daughter checked out some ten minutes later she was told the same, but queried this and was eventually given back the 10 euros she had paid.By this time our transport had arrived and it was too late for me to go back to reception.
We certainly won't be going back there and would not recommend the hotel to anyone.

We booked this hotel and after reading the reviews tried to unbook and book somewhere else but we could not so emailed the hotel and booked a sea view room as so many people advised.
Our tour operator was Cosmos and have to say that i would never book through them again but that was not the hotels fault. We arrived after a ten hour delay and then there was no taxi to pick us up as WE were late arriving (our fault....). When we eventually arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was nice but probably in need of some updating but it was clean. The toilet seat was broken so i asked at reception and within one hour of returning to the room it was replaced with a new one. The meals were lovely to us. There was plenty of choice and although they did not do a childrens section you could ask for a kids meal and it was cooked to order. I suppose they try and encourage the kids to eat a little healthier and try new things.
The pool area was nice but to get some shade (and you really do need some as it was very hot in july) you needed to join the queue at about 8.00 in the morning but although the doors for the pool are advertised as opening at 8.30 the man usually appeared at about 8.15 so not much of a wait. We always sunbathed by the baby pool as we could turn our beds and watch the water sports going on. There is no beach as such but my husband and daughter were always in the sea snorkling and accessed it by the concrete bathing area and steps into the sea. The sea was mostly calm.
The evening entertainment was not really up to much. It was singers each night and mostly country music which seems to be the thing in malta. It looked very pretty at night all lit up. We mostly took a walk every evening into Buggiba and then sat by the pool and watched some of the entertainment and then finished off watching it from our balcony. It usually finished about 12 ish so sleeping before if you have a sea view room you may need ear plugs.
There were French Students running around the hotel and although our british boys have a name abroad these students were very rude in most peoples opinions they spoiled the hotel as the lifts were taken up mostly by hoards of them and when they passed you (even with little children and elderly people) they could not care less if they knocked into you. I think that this needs addressing by the management as they were loud at night and always shouting from their balconies and lots of people in the inland rooms got no sleep at all.
The staff were mostly nice and friendly and especially the restaurant staff. The restaurant thing about the all inclusive is so annoying. You are given a card when you arrive and although all inclusive you wear a wrist band, you still have to produce this card at meal times and at the bar. You are also allocated a block to sit at where you must continue to sit for the remainder of your holiday so no use meeting up with friends for a meal. You are not allowed. You have your own staff allocated to each block and ours were lovely, block E. The staff on reception i found to be quite unhelpful. There is a pizza place that you can eat at to replace your evening meal but each day i asked to book for the following night (and i asked at 8.30 in the morning) it was always fully booked.
We overall found this holiday to be acceptable and enjoyable although very quiet but if you are wanting a bit of peace and a place not too roudy (except for the students thing) then you will have a good time. Our daughter is 11 and she loved it. She made friends with lots of kids and probably had the best holiday she had ever had. She lived in the pool and the sea as the weather was so hot but at least she was not bored. Although there is no lifeguard at the pool its quite safe for the kids. I did mention this to the manager but his reply was "parents should watch their kids" and i suppose he is right.
Hope this has been helpful and don't listen to all the bad reviews. We had a seaview room which i would definately recommend to anyone going as the view really is spectacular. We had to have a court yard view on the last day as we had to move rooms as we wanted a late checkout. That was something else i found to be strange. You cannot ask for your room to be kept open until the day you are departing and if its booked again then they MAY be able to offer you something. We were given another room and it was more modern and spacious than our sea view one but the balcony was not private at all. It was only for the day though so it did not bother us. We paid 25 euros for it which i found to be quite steep as well.
