The hotel is lovely, lots of marble and despite comments read elsewhere there did seem to be sufficient lifts. The pools are saltwater and very cold! The indoor pool is more like a large bath than a pool and didn't look very inviting although my eldest son went in once and said it was colder than outside! Good variety of food and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We fell in love with Malta overall, very laid back, everyone spoke English and was friendly. Most of all, you didn't get the impression that you were being ripped off. We are going back again next year, albeit staying at a different hotel.

After one night in the Palm Court any hotel that was clean would have felt like a palace! We were moved to the QAWRA PALACE (we paid for an upgrade) and were generally happy. Rooms were good size, clean and well furnished. Food was tasty and varied. Most staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was in good position overlooking the bay. There was a very nice café/brassiere with a terrace on the street.
Faults? The generator in the courtyard was very noisy and so we had to keep the balcony windows closed. This made the room hot and the air conditioning system was noisy. We used earplugs to muffle the droning.
The evening entertainment was a bit like a down market wedding reception so we gave it a miss, preferring to take advantage of the lovely climate by taking walks into the town.
The pool area was fine in October but I suspect it gets very crowded in High Season, as it is quite small.
Generally this hotel was fine and provided a good base to explore the island on the excellent, cheap public buses.

I’ve read some very poor reviews about this hotel and really wasn’t sure what to expect - now I am about to leave I wonder what other people expect when the book into a hotel...
The reception area is very nice, the staff were friendly and check in was easy.
The room was small but certainly adequate for 2 people and as we were only showering and sleeping in there it didn’t matter really.
The food was excellent, I can honestly say that all the meals were varied, hot and we looked forward to eating every day - especially the desserts!!!
So, all ok so far then...but there is a slight downside. The main pool area gets very crowded very early on and the pool is awash with inflatable making having a dip a noisy and splashy experience. To avoid this we walked up the road for 5 minutes and hopped on a bus to a beach - it was glorious and quiet and the water was wonderful.
The evening entertainment was very hit and miss and didn’t really know what age group it was aimed for - some nights were fantastic and others left you wanting a pop idol reject.
Overall the hotel is great for families with young children or people who go all-inclusive but want to get out and about during the day - transport to other parts of Malta is so very easy.

We were worried by the reviews we had read - but have no fear the Qwara Palace is a good hotel equivalent to a 3* in the uk.
Room large clean air conditioning TV (nothing worth watching other than BBC news/ German MTV - but who goes to Malta to watch TV). Rooms cleaned daily by friendly staff . Try to get a high room if at the back as you get more sun. Front rooms have great views but the entertainment is out front at night and loud.
Food- okay and lots of it. Fresh fruit eggs ham bread cheese full English for breakie 3 choices for dinner as much as you want as many times. Self service buffet if you like school dinners your love this!!!
The town is small with only a few bars and eating places lots of brits, if going for more than a week book on day trips out unless you like sun beds and sea. No beach but platforms to swim from crystal clear water
Good value .
Those who complain (and there were a few i.e. No trays to take your plate to the table!! Some waiting staff didn’t speak great English!!! Bar not open till 10 am!!! Ect.ect.)Were really trying to find fault
Just smile be friendly and have a great time

This is a shabby but comfortable hotel in the process of being refurbished. For some reason they started doing up the rooms on the 4th floor. The rooms with a sea view are fine but the inner rooms look over a dark courtyard where the sun never shines. The indoor pool was seldom cleaned.
Towels changed regularly but they are hard and grey in colour. Food is pretty good, Weetabix and other cereals and full English breakfast. Drinks are a bit pricey, as is the whole Island of Malta. When the refurb is finished this will be a good holiday destination. The outdoor pool is salt water.

Am currently at hotel (22/04/04). Booked at short notice as tied in well with some work on the Island. Having booked, looked up a few reviews on the place, and saw such criticism considered cancelling.
I work away from home 6+ months a year, mostly in hotels - we are lucky to get mainly 4/5 star accommodation. This place is extremely pleasant; 3*+ in most countries. The rooms, service and food are vastly better than I had been led to expect - sure you can improve, but at this sort of price, not by much.
Don’t be put off - go for it; it’s just fine.

All I can say is I hope that the hotel has improved....ALOT! This was hand on heart the worst holiday I have ever experienced in my life and I am well travelled. It was so bad there are members of my family who have vowed never to step back on Maltese land even if they were offered a million pounds! I am an open minded person who has stayed in some fab hotels over the years and others not so fab but make the best of what is given to me but this just takes the biscuit! We were moved rooms three times-flight arrived at 4am so had to spend first night in mouldy, smelly, cramp room in the corner of the complex that had half a balcony-even fag stubs were found in my bed! We were eventually moved the next day after having to wait on the reps, we were then moved to another disgusting room with no air con before being demanding a room that looked like the ones you find in the magazines! (seems the higher up you go the better). The food was edible but that’s about it, the pool is saltwater and cold and the beach is rocky. Also the resort has nothing but a few shops and so you rely completely on hotel entertainment-although the reps do work very hard and deserve a round of applause. I even had the unfortunate luck of being here for my birthday which was nearly spent in tears after attending a tour trip to a 'firework show' which turned out to be a religious event which lasted for around four hours!! Aia have heard and seen on holiday programmes that the Palm Court hotel is a hell hole and many gests are transferred here - God help them! All in all an absolute disaster, I have no idea how this hotel got 4 stars! Good luck to anyone who has booked to go here-take my advice and cancel now-no matter how much money it will cost you, you will be glad of it!
