May 2010, ian

just got back from a weeks hol there, def not 4 star , 3 max , could not complain about the food and choice , the staff are were not very helpful ,it was if you were an inconvenience to them , you have to pay for everything even extra tea and coffee for your room and air con or heating. refurbs were going on so you were woken at 7.15 every day by workmen. rooms were dated , sheets were not changed all week , the cleaners cleaned around things , ie not under the bed. drinks are overpriced because there is nowhere else to go. the beach was absolute rubbish , suggest you go across the bay, the sauna did not work and cost 6 euros for 20 mins, when requested a refund it was as if it was the staffs own money. i hired a car so could travel , if you were stuck at the hotel you would be bored. would i stay there again ? NO

Terrible

Sep 2009, mistoffoles

On arrival it was obvious that the hotel was definitely not a 4 star hotel, the foyer was shabby and worn and the staff was not very happy bunch. Our room was appalling and nothing like the photos or description. The twin beds were boards on legs with old, stained and worn bedding. The fridge was scary to say the least and everything was dirty. On complaining to the management was advised to pay extra for the superior room!!!! and as we were unable to contact the travel company we booked through we decided on seeing the room that although was only marginally better than the other we paid an extra 250 euros. We did try to pay for only one night so as to try and contact the travel company we booked through and arrange another hotel the next day but was given the choice of leaving or paying the money. By that stage it was 11 at night and we were exhausted so we stayed. On contact with the travel company we booked through the next morning we were advised to wait for them to contact us back and they would try for a refund and find another hotel for us. We waited 9 hours and several calls to the travel company involved later, before we were told that we could have a refund of £130 out of the £750 we had already paid if we left immediately, it was already 7pm by then. We then went online ourselves and found a hotel of a proper standard and shelled out another £500 to stay for 3 nights out of our 7 night holiday at the Radisson (total quality). As we had to stay for a further 3 nights at the Paradise we then had the experience of the disgusting food provided (every bottle of wine I ordered was corked and dearer than the Radisson’s prices), the inflated prices for everything you even had to pay 5 euros to use the fridge if you were game to put anything in it, we watched people swimming in the filthy pools and had the staff conveniently forget to give the agent our booking to go on an excursion which we sat and waited for an hour to be picked up for. They then proceeded to give us an itinerary of the excursion and how wonderful it was and how sad it was that we would not be able to do it. We are lodging a complaint in writing as this was the only advice we were given to do from our travel agent and we are also sending a written complaint to the Malta tourist bureau to complain about the so called 4 stars as it was a definite 2 to 3 star at the max, so it’s a wait and see now if we get anything at all back. Am more than happy to send info and photos (took loads) to anyone who is interested. See Attached photos

Bad,bad,bad............

This hotel is not four star. Well at least room 382 isn't.Have just had two
weeks here and it's been horrible. My room did not see a vacuum cleaner nor
did my bathroom floor receive a clean, though towels were replaced whenever
requested. Also the pillows are so lumpy....suggest take your own. Be
warned you have to pay for everything. This includes the fridge in your room.
It cost another 10 euros for the stay. So if you want cold drinks you have to pay.
Its a very tired hotel. I hear tell they are doing a refit so hopefully this
could change but for now avoid.

Sep 2008, Mrs C Sutherland

This hotel was nice, our room was very clean and perfect for us with a lovely view. The maids came everyday with fresh towels and to clean the room. A lot of the staff were rude and not firendly, however there were a few who were nice. The food was lovely and plenty of choice avaiable. The indooe pools could do with updateing and its a shock to your eyes when you get in the pool for the first time as its salt water and nips your eyes, althought you do get used to this after a while. The hotels down side was the entertainment after dinner there is nothing at all to do until the entertainment starts at 9.30 which by then our children were a sleep. You can go into other towns but a taxi is about £50 euros for the all around trip.the gym sauna and jacuzzi are all extras and need to be paid for even the fridge in your rrom you need to pay if if you require this. We did have a lovely holiday but if you have children please do not go to this hotel there simply is not enough there for them. As this hotel is also open to the public, we found that as soon as the weekend came around you could not move in the pool it was packed.

4 Star no way 2 or 3 perhaps we were given a room above the sauna the maid changed the towels every day but nothing else our carpet was stained and not hoovered once the whole time we were there. The buffet meals were good the bar staff miserable the entertainment was dire. There is nothing to do in Malfa and to me Malta in general was not what I expected. The locals are friendly but me personally was very let down by Malta itself. The weather was fantastic but that is not enough we found Malta very expensive and would never venture there again.

This was the the worst hotel we have ever stayed in we only stayed one night, then ask
ed to be moved to another hotel.
The hotel was dirty, the room smelt dirty, most of the staff were extremely rude.
We couldn't wait to get out of there.
DO NOT GO THERE IT IS AWFUL!!
The food was inedible we thought we were at a greasy spoon instead of a supposedly a four star hotel

This is probably the worst hotel I...

Aug 2008, Mr K Ross

This is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I have travelled europe quite extensively.
The hotel is cleaned, but not well
The rooms are adequate but not modern and the beds were singles and small
The carpet in our room was stained
The staff are the most unwelcoming I have ever come accross to the point of rudeness (with the exception on one waiter and one english guy who did the odd shift on reception). There is no "sir" or smile and they do not even get out of your way when you walk towards them carrying food or drinks. We felt like we were an inconvenience
The food rated from adequate to inedible and was constantly repeated. If you wanted fresh fruit for breakfast you had to pay - the fruit juices were actually squash and the coffee was terrible and you had to queue to get it!
The worst part of all however was that the hotel opened its doors to the locals. Guests had exclusive use of nothing and we were invaded every day. We were unluckly enough one day to be there on a public holiday. I estimate 2-300 locals invaded the pool, reastaurant and all seating areas. The noise was terrible and there was no where to sit!
The hotel also charges for things which are very annoying - such as the fridge in your room or the TV.
DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL - THERE MUST BE FAR BETTER ON THE ISLAND.
Its not 4 star by any stretch of the imagination - its barely a 2 star.

i think the hotel was amazing !
it was really big with loads of exciting things to be involved in.
Rooms : Yes i didnt stay in a superior room i just stayed in the ordeinary old room and i dint care what it look like. yes i must admit it wasnt the best room i had every stayed in but the view was manificent ! anway who goes on holiday to stay in there room. so everyone complaining about there rooms are just stupid. i saw alot of rooms in the hotel and i saw some pretty amazing ones at that. Everything worked and was always kept clean expect one day was missed but staff made extreme fuss of it when they found out.
Hotel in general: i went with 7 other people on this holiday and i loved everyminute of it. i have never been half bored before and first yes it was a bit boring that i couldnt go out and choose wich restraunt i wanted to go in and what bar ? night club i wanted to go in afterwards but once i got used to the hotel and knew what it was all bout and what was happening it was full of entertainment. it was so much fun getting involved during the day and night ! the staff at the hotel were fab and was never rude and always trying to get you up to have a laff spechially the animation team ! they were just great. The pools were always kept clean and the sunbed areas were also kept clean too the always had different activities on during the day its just such an amazing hotel that i would defently go back the poeple are soo nice and i would recomeend the bbq om a friday night what a laff.
restraunts : the rstraunts were delicious but some nights slipped in quality the soup and pasta was awsome and the salad bar was terific but some nights meat can be chewwy or undercooked and didnt have to wait for the drinks that long.
i didnt get to use the sauna gym hAIRDRESSES or massuse but got told they were incredable i would recomend paradise bay hotel to a friend and would go back in the near furtre :D

Arrived in Malta and picked up the...
5 / 10
Jun 2008, Mr SA MARTIN

Arrived in Malta and picked up the car - upon driving out of the airport the first impression you get is that the Maltese drive like idiots, and the roads are appalling. This impression stayed with me throughout my ten day stay.
Paradise Bay hotel facilities i would say in general are very good, but clearly if you are not paying four star rates for a four star hotel there has to be a catch... the rooms. If you pay a low rate you will be put into a low rate room.. so expect this.
However, what was good about the hotel was the shop, entrance, food, bar, pools, and gym. When you eat lunch, you have to order drinks from the waiter, hence it can take ages to get a drink, which is not ideal when it is hot... i found this irritating.
Aside from the hotel, which is ok, Malta needs to try a bit harder to attract tourists. If you go and rent a car, be aware that even though most drivers on the road are only going to be travelling a few km (malta is only about 35km across) they will still attempt to overtake you at even the most dangerous opportunity.
I would not recommend going the malta to be honest.
