Overall, Malta was great. I'd highly recommend having a GPS and hiring a car so you can efficiently get around. We used a Garmin Nuvi 660 with Malta maps and they worked fine. The Radisson is quite nice with at least 2 pools and ocean access for swimming. The fitness... more

The accommodation was fantastic; a very large room with balcony which was kept beautifully clean. This is the only hotel I have ever stopped in where the maid cleaned our hairbrushes! The pools are lovely, and there is a swim up pool bar in one of them. There are two... more

Superb hotel, out of the way of bustling St Julian’s. Very well placed, high standards of service and cleanliness. Range of meals available from four restaurants, though would recommend that you use the Concierge's knowledge and venture out into St Julian’s (and... more

I went to Malta in August 2004 to get married, and stayed at the Radisson - WOW!!! It is definitely 5* luxury. We stayed there prior to the wedding and for two weeks after as part of our honeymoon. The hotel staff could not do enough for you, nothing and I mean nothing... more

An excellent hotel. Only problem was Malta itself, which really was a dirty dump. However, the hotel (point of this review), definitely lived up to its 5 star rating. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed. Main tip is to stay half board. The evening buffet dinner... more

Top Quality
We went to the Radisson SAS in July 2005. It was my first time bt my friends stay there regularly. The hotel is magnificent and I have never experienced such incredible service before. The facilities suited me pefectly and the staff were very helpful. As the rooms we were allocated weren't what we asked for initially (we asked for poolview but were allocated seaview) we asked to be moved elsewhere and were upgraded to junior suites at no extra cost. We were only allocated the seaview rooms due to refurbishments (bear in mind that if the hotel didn't refurb then everthing would get outdated). The food for breakfast was brilliant and varied and there is a chioce for everyone, even my freind who is the worlds fussiest eater. The evening meals were also of a very high standard with a different menu every night. On the first night there there was nothing on the menu I liked (I did try) so I asked for something not on the menu and the chef was only happy to oblige. The bar areas were nice and clean, and the staff were very polite and the service was impeccable. In the evening it was nice to sit out on the open air balcony above the pool and look over the med while supping an ice cold pint of Cisk (local lager). The surrounding area had good facilities and were no more than a 10-15 minute walk in Pacevaille with it shopping centre, resturaunts and a few bars. Slightly further afield, but still in walking distance, was the Casino and a few Irish and English bars and a good selection of resturaunts in St Julians. Selima was slightly furhter away but had a good mixture of shops, bars and resturaunts too. I also suggest spending an afternoon at T'Qali in the craft village. The stuff there was amazing! In our travels around the island we didn't get bugged by timeshare people or have people try to usher us into resturaunts like in Tenerife or Gran Canaria which was good. All in all, a brilliant holiday, the staff were fantastic and Maltese pepole were ever so friendly. I'm looking foward to my next visit.
A beautiful, relaxed and very friendly resort
This Radisson SAS is a magnificant hotel laying on a very nice place on the boarder of the sea with a very nice view. The hotel itself is build out of very nice materials. The overall feeling when you enter the building is warm, relaxed and very friendly especially for kids. In the daytime we enjoyed the verious swimmingpools and have done a lot of watersports like jet ski driving. After all these activities it was nice relaxing on the bar in the swimmingpool were we have drunk some very nice cocktails. The dinner in the edge bar, in the bistro or in the main restaurant was very good. A good remark is the care and the hospitality of the staff which is having one target: you have to enjoy your holiday! The familyroom was having enough space to sleep very comfortable with 2 adults and three children. The housekeeping was really taking care of the room on a mayor way, it was always very clean and they even were spraying with some nice flavour in the room. In the evening there was always something nice to do or to see in the Bridge bar where we have met some very nice contacts and again the staff was really taking care of us. In general a fantastic place, hotel and holiday.
Not bad but not five star.
If you are used to staying in genuine 5 Star hotels you will be somewhat disappointed by the Radisson SAS Bay Point. There is nothing particularly wrong with the hotel (apart from the occasional musty smell) but it's not 5 Star. The hotel itself is a 20-25 minute walk from Spinola Bay up and down steep hills and my advice would be to spend the extra and stay at the nearby Hilton if you are expecting genuine 5 Star treatment. The Radisson staff and service are difficult to fault but the prices they charge are definitely 5 Star. They advertise that all rooms have a sea view. They do, if you stretch far enough. Our first room was 10% sea view and 90% car park. The rooms are clean and "ok". Overall, it's not a bad hotel but it really isn't five star.
a very nice hotel with a great location
I stayed at he Baypoint Resort in August 2006 with my 11 yrs old daughter; the hotel has all the amenities one would expect from a 5 star chain hotel, and the overall feeling is that of a cozy hotel, not too big to be impersonal. The location is great for a beach holiday, since the hotel is located right on its own rocky beach, and all rooms have seaview; furthermore, the action is in Saint Julian's, which is just one km. away, so one benefits both from a relaxing holiday and from amusements, if one wants to. Just perfect, and, not to forget, the personnel is extremely kind and smiling.
we really enjyed staying at the Radisson
Me, my wife and our oldest daughter stayed at the Radisson for a week in August and we were very pleased with the choice. The location a bit away frow the crowds was perfect for us and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel does need a bit of repairment but nothing special. Francisco from Portugal
Good Hotel, very impressed
Stayed at the Radisson on business in August with a colleague. I was very impressed for the price, and for a radisson. Some parts fo the hotels needed a lick of paint, but most was very nice. My room was one of the 'no view' Sea View rooms - i would avoid any room ending in #31 and i can imagine the privacy in some rooms in not the best. But the food was excellent, the service exceptional. I was here when the problems were happening at Heathrow and due to fly back to Heathrow - the staff could not have been more helpful in finding out information. they also gave us a free late check out - a rarity nowadays. A great experience.
Beware the Corporate Guest Priority
My wife and I have been to Malta on 2 previous occasions, we wanted a 5 star hotel where we could relax in peace and quiet and enjoy the facilities on offer, unfortunately this was not the hotel! The first 4-5 days were great but then a large corporate party arrived and they immediately received preferential treatment over the leisure/tourist guests. A large screen was available to watch world cup games, all the prime seating was cordoned off for the corporate party, a guest restaurant was advertised as fully booked, however it was closed for a private party (3 nights on the trot) again the corporate party, if informed on arrival of the truth I could have accepted this. One of the terraces by the pool had all the sunchairs removed, these were crammed into the other areas by the pool so the corporate party could eat outside by the pool, the tourist guests now all on top of each other. On one day the peace by the pool was destroyed by a non resident party of approx 30 13-18yr olds, they shouted, ran around in groups, took over the pool area with nobody from the hotel in the slightest bit interested that many paying were pushed back to the hotel and their roooms by this behaviour. At weekends don't expect to get near the pool for local families taking over the area, when questioned the hotel said they were guests, but they were never seen in the hotel in the morning or evening, checking in or out? The hotel itself is very pleasant, the staff are very good and try to do their best for everyone, unfortunately I suggest the management of the hotel need to look at the way the manage their business. I contacted Radisson hotels on my return to the UK, they have a corporate customer services dept but they pass everything back to the hotel itself, the hotel were not interested in my comments or those of other guests that I know raised similar issues. As I said at the beginning....BEWARE.....
Excellent Hotel
We stayed at the Bay Point for the first week in August. Overall, the hotel was of a very high standard - it is probably worthy of its 5* rating, although 5* hotels in bigger cities/countries may well have a wider range of facilities in comparison. The resort itself is 'laid back', although there was some entertainment provided every night in the hotel bar. This was usually a small band or individual singer, and it was not so loud that you could hear it everywhere - just right. The pool areas were excellent, with a good mix of shade and direct sun, and service at the pool bar was also very good. We didn't find the prices to be expensive - this is a 5* hotel after all, and part of the cost relates to the higher levels of service you receive. We would definitely recommend the Bistro restaurant - large portions and excellent quality for reasonable prices. There was also a decent variety of meals on offer. Breakfast was fine (although perhaps not the best ever), but there was again no shortage of variety. All of the staff we met were very helpful, and service was fast. The handle on our door broke and was fixed almost immediately for example. Finally, a real bonus was the FREE Kids Club - our 7-year old daughter loved it, and the facility itself was quiet and unobtrusive. You would almost not notice it in fact. We'd recommend the hotel for families of all sizes - it might not be 'loud' enough for younger couples? We would also recommend hiring a car - Mdina is beautiful and should be visited at lesiure rather than part of an organised trip, and there are many other great places to visit in the same way.
Enjoy Malta - and the Radisson SAS Bay Point!!
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Radisson SAS Bay Point. We have had an amazing holiday in Malta and can't wait to return, as the place is gorgeous and the people are so friendly. The hotel is great - a word of warning though - if you are looking for loads of daily entertainment, bingo and loud music etc. than this is not the place for you. It is a chilled out resort, perfect for families and those seeking something other than constant stimulation and late night partying. The restaurants in the hotel are ok - would recommend the Bistro highly, and it's also open 24 hrs. The breakfast buffet has a wide choice and everyone should be able to find something they like - not top notch but it's what you expect when they are catering for so many tastes. Thay also have no problem with you taking some items up to your room to enjoy on the balcony! Pools are fab - no huge problems with sun loungers although you inevitably get the annoying people who leave their towels on them all day to make sure they get the best spot - if they decide to come down. Service fabulous all the way. We requested a full sea view from our room, as whilst all rooms have some sea views, many overlook the pool or bar area which may not be very peaceful. We occupied room 445 and fell asleep every night to the sound of the sea just metres from our balcony! There were only a couple of gripes - the first being the timeshare person who phoned our room on our second day. We were offered a free bottle of wine as part of a "promotion" the hotel was offering. The British lady, Kerry, arrived at our room with a Maltese girl in tow and proceeded to give us the spiel about the "free" tour of the Radisson's sister hotel at Golden Sands and how just for going for 10 minutes we would recieve a gift. Nevertheless, our offer to drive ourselves there was not acceptable - we would have to take the free taxi we were being offered - consequently being stranded there until the hard sell was over. I continually asked her whether it was timeshare and she dodged the issue repeatedly, telling me how the Maltese girl would earn a nice commission if we took up the offer. As a ploy to get rid of them I said I would think about it, only to be plagued by calls to the room early next morning and then waylaid after breakfast the next day, where I had to be very firm! They actually had a desk set up right outside the breakfast restaurant and were hassling people as they left - not good as far as I am concerned. We never claimed our "free" bottle of wine! The other annoyance was that there was no complementary water provided - the tap water is supposed to be drinkable but is really unpleasant - for a hotel of this standard you would expect at least some bottled water to be provided but there was only the highly expensive bottles in the mini-bar. Anyway - I never thought I would write this much but I am hoping to provide good info for anyone travelling to this resort! My final advice would be to hire a car and see the island at your own leisure - the driving is really not as bad as it's made out to be and the island's heritage deserves to be seen properly and not from the window of a coach!
