" Watch out for Time Share Promotion "
Submitted By: totdand teds
When staying at the Hotel look out for an offer from the Thomas Cook Rep to visit the other Radisson Hotel at Golden Sands. For this you will get a voucher worth 40 Euros towards your trip.
If the rep does not get you then, the Hotel will send their rep to your room and offer you a voucher for 50 Euros for the same trip.
You will be told that you will be given a tour of the hotel so that you can tell family and friends about it. Take your swimming gear along and have fun. You must stay at the hotel for the minimum of 1 Hour.
Well we went along to be confronted by a Time Share Team FULL ON. We were subjected to a fulltime Share Pitch about the Hotel before we even had seen any of it.
We spent 3 hours before managing to slip the Sales Executive and head for the door. There we had to fight for the Voucher we were promised.
My advice to anyone is to ask the right questions, IS THIS TIME SHARE before being subjected to the same torment we had.
When we confronted the rep about it she just shrugged her shoulders so we are making a formal complaint.
I also think the information we were given about the Time Share Promotion was too good to be true. Various claims were made which we will pass onto the Independent Watchdog for Time Share.
I am disgusted that both Radisson & Thomas Cook openly promote this type of Time Share Selling.
Nothing wrong with the Hotel itself or the Resort

I had a wonderful time in Malta . St julians bay was lovely. The local wer kind and friendly, the food was easily accesible and delicious. It is a very safe enviroment and the weather is fabulous in july. It is a great place for all ages from people with young children to older retired cuoples wanting a relaxing holiday. The night life can fit to what you want it to be you could sit on a corner in a pub and watch the world go by or you can take a stroll round the beautiful harbours and beaches. There are a few good nightclubs with very cheap drink offers and lots of very nice resteraunts. I think everyone should experience malta once in their lives.

The accommodation was fantastic; a very large room with balcony which was kept beautifully clean. This is the only hotel I have ever stopped in where the maid cleaned our hairbrushes!
The pools are lovely, and there is a swim up pool bar in one of them. There are two pools joined by a slide - great fun for kids. There is also a pool side waiter service and this food is very reasonable. I used to ask for bread for my son as he is a fussy eater and they gave me a free bread basket every day.
In the evening there is a reasonable pub type restaurant, and pricey buffet type restaurant - (Lovely food though) and there is an outdoor restaurant with grill. Breakfast is exceptional - beautifully laid out and could fill you up all day.
The hotel is in a nice safe area and there is a beach a 5 minute walk away. It is a little cut off from shops etc, although if you can walk for 15 minutes in 30 degree heat you would be OK.
Overall I would go there again, however if you are looking for lots of entertainment for children this hotel is not for you.

Superb hotel, out of the way of bustling St Julian’s. Very well placed, high standards of service and cleanliness. Range of meals available from four restaurants, though would recommend that you use the Concierge's knowledge and venture out into St Julian’s (and beyond!) to some superb eateries.
All staff could not be more helpful, friendly and accommodating.
Rooms well appointed and thoroughly cleaned on daily basis. Towels available for residents at poolside (clean, soft and fluffy!) and pools mainly empty due to the time of year. Lovely and peaceful, just what the doctor ordered.
Highly recommended, would definitely return.

I went to Malta in August 2004 to get married, and stayed at the Radisson - WOW!!!
It is definitely 5* luxury. We stayed there prior to the wedding and for two weeks after as part of our honeymoon. The hotel staff could not do enough for you, nothing and I mean nothing was too much trouble.
On the day of my wedding, which wasn't taking place at the hotel but at the registry office in Valetta, everything ran like clockwork. Hair stylist, makeup artist etc was all provided as part of the package (booked through Sunspot & the hotel), it was all a girl could wish for and more (the sumptuous surroundings etc!!)
I had a major disaster on the day of my wedding, with my wedding dress - two of the covered buttons on the back of my dress pinged off - reception sent someone up immediately who resolved the problem with a tube of superglue!!! AND YOU COULD NOT TELL!!
We had our evening reception back at the hotel with 14 of our family and friends (who were not staying at the hotel!!) It was fantastic - the food - wine and music was out of this world - they had a duo on who dedicated a record to us Neil Diamonds "LOVE ON THE ROCKS" it obviously doesn't mean the same in Malta as it does else where.
We paid for this separately through the hotel, they were more than happy to arrange it all for us. It consisted of:- a champagne reception to start, followed by a three course meal - set menu but with a choice for each course - and as much of the main course as you could eat, the wine 6 bottles of each and a wedding cake and believe me it did not break the bank, which when you consider the surroundings - sat at a restaurant overlooking the sea (waves splashing up against the rocks), with candles lighting the pathway - it is amazing!!
Malta is a lovely place - the people love us to bits - and St Julians and its surrounding area is great for anyone who likes a lively time but with the home comforts of Marks and Spencers on the doorstep.
I could not recommend this hotel enough!!!!

An excellent hotel. Only problem was Malta itself, which really was a dirty dump.
However, the hotel (point of this review), definitely lived up to its 5 star rating. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed. Main tip is to stay half board. The evening buffet dinner was one of the best we've had, everything you could possibly want, suitable for all tastes, and as much as you wanted. There were very few local restaurants/bars so you would be definitely well advised to stay in the hotel. The buffet breakfast was also excellent
The hotel staff were excellent, could not have been more helpful. Maybe the head waiter could have been more pleasant, but he seemed to improve during the week. Reception staff however couldn't do more to help.
We were even told by the reception to avoid the local shopping/bar centre of St Julians until afternoon, by which time the previous nights debris would have been cleared!
The only downsides to the hotel were:
1. Vicinity. Malta is definitely the worst holiday destination we have been to, scruffy, dirty, smelly, derelict, broken glass, drunken Brits around St Julians etc. The list could go on. The only thing which made the holiday bearable was this excellent hotel.
2. The swimming pools were rather inadequate for the hotel. The main one within the hotel grounds became very crowded, and lacked the sun in parts of the day, and the other pool (which we preferred), was quite a walk, was sea water, but was definitely preferable for peace and quiet.
All in all, an excellent hotel, deserving of its 5* status, just a pity it`s let down by its surrounding area.

The villages, Festas, Beaches and Churches of Malta and Gozo are wonderful. Valletta is amazing. One big shop. Lots and lots of nightlife at St Julians and Quara. Very very friendly people and mostly English gets you what you need.
Good for: City Breaks
