I have just returned after a weeks stay at the seyir hotel. I went with 3 friends and we had a brilliant stay.
The staff were brilliant; nothing was too much trouble for them. We would recommend this hotel and we will going again next year.

The flight with Onur air was the only complaint we had about our week in Turkey. We were delayed for 3 hours at Bristol due to the late arrival of the airline. The food, which we had no option but to choose to have and pay for, was a bit of a let down.
Omelette and a burger bap was the cuisine which we had paid £10 for. You do receive a free soft drink/tea or coffee, but so you should. We arrived at the hotel in ovacik early evening and our bags were taken to the room by very friendly hotel staff. The room was clean, and continued to be cleaned each day of our stay. We had a pool view which was lovely.
The menu at the hotel was ok, but a short walk down to Hisaranou the choices were in abundance, we strongly advise you give Cheers a go. Excellent meal! We stayed at the Seyir on a B&B basis, the breakfast was a traditional Turkish breakfast which consisted of feta cheese, meats, bread with honey or jam, cereals, tea/coffee and orange squash. It kept us going but we did stay away from the meats as wasps were all over it!
Turkish night at the hotel on a Tuesday night is a must! £10 for the night including a BBQ. The male belly dancer is the highlight, but don’t sit at the front if you don’t like getting dragged up!(which I did!)
Goldtrail seemed ok, our rep Angie was good, and we booked a few excursions through the company. One of which was Daylan. Here one of the stops is at a mud bath, strange sensation wading through the mud but good fun, you then take a dip in the sulphur pool. A must when you go to Turkey is to visit a Turkish bath! Have the Face pamper as an extra!
The Dolmus will take you to Olu Deniz where you will find the famous Blue Lagoon, however if you ask reception to ring for the free bus to Billy's Beach this is just as good, it is a private beach on the lagoon, free entrance but you will have to pay 5 lira for each sun bed.
You will not be disappointed with your stay here. The staff are great, the hotel and its grounds are clean, and there is so much to do and see on excursions. One bit of advice, take more sterling than lira and wait to get your lira until you are in resort, the exchange rate is much better than the UK. There is one cash point, HSBC, that allows you to withdraw Sterling which was excellent. Have a great holiday!

We arrived late evening and were greeted with a very warm welcome by the wonderful staff, this continued throughout the week where the staff where just lovely. They were very helpful, excellent with the children and so very kind.
The hotel was clean and always being tidied and swept. Our room was not huge but comfortable; we had a separate bedroom for the children which was accessed up a spiral staircase (not so safe for toddlers) although my 7 year did decide to stick his head through the railings of the staircase and nearly got it stuck!
The maid came in every day with fresh towels and made the beds, she even put a heart shape towel on the bed one day with fresh flowers around it. Do have the air con! It was very warm in the hotel in the evening, the charge was £20.00 per week, you can pay Stirling or lira.
The pool was fantastic, they have a great water slide which was fantastic for the kids (and some adults) the slide was switched on and off throughout the day, which did cause a few problems when it was switched off, as the kids would try and come down it whilst it was dry. It was suggested to the hotel about them putting a gate across.
The breakfast was always very nice, a good choice of cheese's, salami, cereal, fresh cooked omelette and fresh bread. We never ate in the hotel in the evening but did have snacks at lunch which was always nice, we did hear that the main evening meals were not great. There is a huge selection of wonderful restaurants situated in Hisarnou, which was the main town from Ovacik. This was a busy town but not crowded, as you walk down through you are asked by every restaurant owner to eat in theirs.
It was to hot during the day to walk down into Hisarnou so we always walked down in the evening to have a large and usually lovely meal, their are so many restaurants to choose from that you could eat at a different one each night. We usually spent around £25.00 a night on a meal and drinks.
The walk back up to the hotel was a killer! It only took less than 5 minutes to get down into Hisarnou but it was the slight hill you had to climb to get back up to the hotel and the heat didn’t help, so I suggest you take a bit extra money and get a taxi back to the hotel, which cost around 8 lira which is around £2.50ish.
Never book through the hotel tour rep for excursions. We went on a boat trip for the whole day, lunch included for £20.00 (that was a family of 4). The hotel rep would double that price! Book through Evergreen, you will receive a lovely welcome and they are situated just at the top of the main street down into Hisarnou.

Would not recommend going all inclusive as found we were treated badly by the staff and the food is horrendous! The hotel on a whole was clean and the staff very friendly.
The hotel is in the perfect place, away from main resort but within walking distance of the many bars and restaurants.
Went on 3 boat trips and a jeep safari which we booked independently, would recommend not using the rep for trips.
My first time to Turkey and can't wait to go back next year! Would go to this hotel again but not all inclusive, sorry I mean Goldtrail's made up 'soft inclusive'!

We have just returned from the hotel Seyir after having a fantastic time. The staff at the hotel were wonderful and could not do enough for you the hotel was clean and friendly. The local town was lovely.
A must is Evergreen tours (do not book through the hotel rep)] We went on a truck safari with them and it was fantastic. We had lunch at the side of a river with freshly caught trout and then went to the top of a mountain to swim in the river it was an amazing experience as was visiting Turkish villages along the way.
If you consider doing this take sweets for the children along the way as they run out of their houses to see the trucks.

We booked our trip on the internet through Expedia. The prices seemed almost too good to be true but a little research confirmed that Goldtrail, Onur Air and Hotel Seyir really did exist and the dates and flight times (from Bristol to Dalaman) seemed convenient. Even though the return flight time was changed to a less convenient 5.30am return, midnight pickup (they opened the airport especially for us and closed it behind us) we probably got what we paid for.
Despite several rumours to the contrary, we found Goldtrail to be essentially reliable; flights and transfers were on time, the reps were helpful and the drivers were friendly. The vegetarian meal for my daughter and the cot for our son which we had requested at the time of booking both failed to materialize. Fortunately, we had been warned that these could not be guaranteed and had brought sandwiches and a travel cot just in case. We were, however, given a double room with an extra bed which turned out to be very useful and easily justified the £30 supplement.
The hotel itself exceeded our expectations. It was located on the side of a hill with plenty of space and fine views of snow-capped mountains and blue seas. The large pool was well maintained as were the gardens around the buildings. Our room was cleaned and our beds changed daily by smiling ladies; the inclusive breakfast (bread, cheese, olives, salami, jam, cereal and drinks) was fresh and perfectly adequate and the staff were extremely accommodating. I was less impressed by the main meals served at the Seyir, but enjoyed the opportunity to try out the restaurants down the road in Hisaronu.
Our room was in the block furthest from the bar and was airy and peaceful. It actually consisted of two rooms, one above the other, connected by a spiral staircase. Each room had its own bathroom with toilet and shower; there was even a bath downstairs. This novel arrangement meant we could put the baby to bed upstairs and continue as normal (doze off) down below. Our balcony had room for three chairs and offered views of the pool and even a glimpse of the sea.
Despite the dubious décor and missing light bulb, everything functioned well and we were very comfortable. We did meet a couple whose ceiling was collapsing with flakes of plaster falling onto the bed but they were swiftly moved to another room and lived to tell the tale. It is true that the standard of workmanship was lower than we might expect at home but the place is in a notoriously active earthquake zone and could disappear down a hole at any moment.
For those seeking a taste of authentic Turkey, the resort of Ovacik/Hisaronu will be a massive disappointment. The high street is dominated by theme bars, pound shops and tacky restaurants offering full English breakfasts. Since we were there at the very beginning of the season 90% of the places were closed or still being hammered together. Fortunately, the local bus will take you to the stunning beach of Olu Deniz in one direction or via the unfinished road to the ‘real’ town of Fethiye in the other direction. There is a colourful market in Fethiye on Tuesdays and an attractive old town area between the fish market and the sea front where you can eat Turkish food and buy souvenirs (get off the bus at the end of the line and turn left).
Visiting this part of Turkey in April meant that the nights were chilly and the sea fairly fresh. The resort was described by some fellow guests as a ghost town and our organised excursion became a tour of all the sites we would have visited if they were open plus the obligatory trip to the carpet factory which never seems to close. On the other hand, the temperature during the day was plenty warm enough without being uncomfortable, there were no mosquitoes and no queues. The shortage of English sausages could also be seen as a blessing.
I would definitely come back to Ovacik for the glorious scenery and mountain walks (minus pram). Hotel Seyir was clean and friendly and I will not forget the incredible generosity and friendliness of the staff and local people towards our children.

This was the first time I had been to Turkey, we got to Hotel Seyir at approx 5.30am, our suitcases were taken to our room by a porter/waiter and that was the beginning of the Turkish hospitality shown to us through our fortnight stay.
I am glad that we only went B&B as there was not a lot to do for the people who went all inclusive. The waterslide was great but basically that was it apart from table tennis and a pool table. Ice cream was not free.
The hotel staff were lovely, made a real fuss of the children (as did all the Turks). The rooms were basic but cleaned every day, we had an upstairs part with the beds in for the children and their own bathroom, which they loved.
The restaurants nearby were lovely, food great, not many Turkish restaurants. I can recommend Cafe Almond on the way to Ovacek, gorgeous food. Mamma Mia’s in Hisaronu, in fact we didn’t have one bad meal.
Enjoy the Dolmus to Olu Deniz, ask to be shown where the Blue Lagoon is, as it is a lovely area not to be missed.

Excellent holiday. Fantastic hotel. Brilliant staff. The Hotel Seyir is situated only a few minutes walk from the centre of Ovacik with a back drop of wonderful pine-clad mountains. We were all inclusive, which was a wise choice even though there are plenty of restaurants and bars in Ovacik and Hisaronu. The staff we could not fault and found all the Turkish people that we met to be very helpful, friendly and go out of their way to look after us.
The hotel has a lovely pool and slide with a poolside bar, large undercover dining area and numerous sun loungers.
Our room was cleaned daily, the towels were changed every day and even our clothes were folded for us. One evening when we returned to our room we found the girls had left flowers arranged on the bed for us.
It was our first holiday to Turkey so we decided to go on all the trips from the hotel and found them to be really good value for money and a great way to see everything. We definitely recommend Dalyan and the mud bath trip. There is so much to see and do around this area that we never got bored and have already booked 2 weeks in September 2006.
On our last day we hired a Jeep and drove across to Patara beach for the day. Patara beach is 12 miles long backed only by ancient ruins. There is just one small bar/cafe on the beach and toilets in the car park and that’s it so if you want to relax in peace and find a quiet spot then this is the beach for you.
We had a brilliant time and can’t wait to go back. 10/10. Habib and Jane.

The hotel staff were very courteous and friendly. However, due to the fact that the hotel was only just opened for the season, the rooms were damp and very cold. The food was also cold and the facilities for young children were non existent.
The area is very scenic and the numerous bars offered cheap but good drinks.
I would go again but no to this hotel.

This is my third holiday booked with Goldtrail and although they have had some bad press I have to say that I have had a great holiday.
We flew with Freebird airlines and the flight was actually early. The flight was fine but because we landed earlier than expected we had a thirty minute wait for the transfer bus to our resort. Our only complaint about the transfer, was about the driver who appeared to be falling asleep at the wheel! However, we arrived safely at the hotel and were shown to our room.
The room was fairly basic but contained everything that we required. Two single beds, small balcony, numerous electrical sockets, hairdryer, bathroom with toilet, bath and shower. The door to the balcony had been left open and there were a few mozzies in the room so we plugged in the mozzie zapper, applied mozzie repellent, unpacked and had a few hours sleep. We had a night flight and arrived at the hotel at 5a.m.
Due to the fact that we had stayed in bed we missed our breakfast. (8a.m. until 10a.m.) The staff were understanding and prepared a breakfast for us which consisted of fresh bread, jam, honey, tomatoes, cucumber, cheese, salami and boiled eggs. There was also breakfast cereal, tea and coffee, plus orange juice.
The hotel room are quite basic but kept clean daily. The lovely girls who cleaned the room left flowers on the bedside cabinet, daily and also arranged them on the bed one day during our 7 day stay.
The hotel has a lovely pool and surrounding area. There is a poolside bar that is situated away from the hotel blocks, numerous sun loungers and a seated dining area around the pool.
We did request a pool view but was located towards the back of the hotel. This didn’t bother us at all because we only use the room to sleep and shower. Just outside our balcony there were numerous fruit trees which were lovely to see.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the only person we thought was a little ''aloof'' was the manager who seemed to patrol around the hotel checking that all was in order.
The hotel was very nice but I thought that it could have been decorated in more bright modern colours. However it would score 8 out of 10.
It was situated up an incline, approximately 15 mins. walk from Hisaronu. This was fine for ourselves, who are fairly fit forty-something’s but for anyone with walking difficulties or a pram to push I think that it would be a bit of a strain.
The area itself is wonderful, with pine-clad mountains all around. Hisaronu is very nice with numerous restaurants and bars.
I would recommend the jeep safari, the 12 island boat trip and a visit to the market in Fethiye. There is so much to see and do around this area.
As we were on a bed and breakfast basis we didn’t eat at the hotel during the day or evening. Although we did go to the BBQ which was just ok. Unfortunately I suffered a mild dose of food poisoning afterwards and could only attribute it to the chicken or meatballs that I had eaten. I have travelled numerous times abroad and this was the first time that I had any tummy troubles. Perhaps I was just unlucky but my partner also suffered slightly although he was fortunate not to be afflicted quite as badly as myself. I took Imodium for the 'trots' and Buscapan Plus for the stomach cramps. I have to say that it took me a week to fully recover! So do be careful.
Overall I would rate the hotel 8 out of 10, Goldtrail 9 out of 10 and the resort and surrounding area 10 out of 10. If you do travel with Goldtrail please go on your holiday with an open mind, they are quite cheap and you only get what you pay for. I would return to the Hotel Seyir but would stick to the bread and honey for breakkie and then eat out for other meals.
We found the food to be quite inexpensive, but the drinks do tend to add to your bill. Myself and my partner drink wine and for a very small glass it was working out at about three pounds per glass. If you bought a bottle it would work out at eight pounds for locally produced Turkish wine. Having said that, the people are wonderful, the surroundings are to die for and the weather was glorious. It did tend to cool off in the evenings so take a light jacket or cardi.
If you are prone to being bitten by the mozzies as I am, use Mosquito Milk from Boots and take vitamin B12 tablets two weeks before you go. I also took antihistamines for two weeks before and during the holiday. I was bitten once but didn’t react as I normally do. On the other hand my partner wasn’t bitten at all, but it is best to take precautions.
I hope that this account will be helpful to anyone wishing to travel to Ovacik or the Hotel Seyir. All that I can say is you will be going to a wonderful part of the world, with friendly people who want to make your holiday special. Have fun!!!!!!

Onur Air flight was ok, however, what a rip off the food was £10 for a tiny little omlette and a roll. Had no choice but to have the food when it was booked at the travel agents, there was no children's meal either on the plane so my son wouldn't eat the meal (another £10 rip off). Got to the hotel, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Clean towels every day and the room was thoroughly cleaned.
The staff there were fantastic, nothing was too difficult for them. Very glad however that we didn't go all inclusive. There was a sign that the all inclusive drinks/food etc. stopped at 11.00pm! Anything after that you had to pay for! Unbelievable! The rep appeared on the first morning very briefly. Didn’t make herself known at all and when we managed to track her down, she really couldn't be bothered to speak to us as we were not interested in booking trips with her. The town centre is very geared for the English, so don't come here if you are looking for a real Turkish holiday/food because you won't get it. The last three days at the hotel, we had no hot water as the weather wasn't very warm so clearly the solar heating didn't work.
One night there was a storm and my son's bedroom was at the top of the hotel, the roof leaked water and the bedroom got completely soaked through including all the bedding etc. Thank goodness he slept in our room the night of the storm because he would have been freezing cold and wet. Would recommend that you only go here at the height of the season so that you can guarantee hot water and a warm swimming pool! Do not go all inclusive.
