Europa Hotel

First time skiing in Switzerland. The Europe is a first class hotel in this most beautiful of Swiss resorts. The rooms were really comfortable, the staff friendly and efficient and the food excellent.
Saas fee is car free with crazy little electric taxis to ferry people around. It can make for quite a slog around in ski boots as the runs and lifts are well spaced out.
Our favourite bar soon became the Metro. Wonderfully friendly owner and local people keen to smile and chat.
As for the skiing....we found it to be quite a challenge as with the resort being on a glacier it can be cold and quite hard, although we were told by a local that January is not the time to ski in Saas as the sun never actually reaches the village. Evidently February is much better but also much busier.
We actually enjoyed lots of walking on the many fantastic walking trails through the various villages round about so we felt that all in all the week was a great success.
