Had a great time. Had a two bedroomed apartment which must have been renovated within the last year or so. It was very clean, fresh and air cond and the maid came in every day. The hotel is in a quiet location within easy reach of bars and restaurants. Apart from the girl on reception being a bit unhelpful I have no complaints and would go back again - whether it deserves all its stars or not!

After reading quite a few bad comments was really unsure what to think but overall we were pleasantly surprised.
I did not think that the hotel was as shabby as some people have made out, yes the carpets are pretty worn out but so what how much time do you spend in the corridors!
Our room was probably one of the best in the hotel luckily. we were on fifth floor so used the lifts constantly but room 541 was great. It did look over building site but this in no way interfered with us, but our balcony was huge enough for sunbeds and tables and chairs and still loads of space. We had great views, one way we could see Mosta Dome and the other way we could just about see the sea. Our room was very clean no problems here at all.
I am really pleased that we only opted for half board as must admit would have hated to have been tied to the hotel as the evening entertainment was pretty dire and gave you drinks in plastic cups and also there are that many bars locally why would you want to stay there for 2 weeks. We used the Queens head just by hotel most days and the drinks are reasonable and place had good atmosphere. There was a constant supply of snacks also which was very nice. There are also many other bars near by a few we used that we found good were Welcome (especially for quiz nights) Dianas & We Five (again snacks all the time).
The food was OK, breakfast was better than evening meal. Although there was always plenty of choice for evening meal I still struggled as sometimes the meat was not of the best quality and the standard of the cooking was a bit poor. The was a good salad selection and soup was usually ok too. It could not have been that bad though as we did eat there every night
As for peoples complaints about the pool areas I have to disagree, think the roof top pool was fine maybe a bit split up as I like to be sociable but only once could we not get a bed and we dont go up until at least 11am and on this occasion we did not mind too much as as I said had sunbeds on our balcony. We did not use the downstairs pool until last day but wished we had before because yes although partially in shade there is always a sunny bit you just need to keep moving, and also some people prefer shade anyway. I did not think it was particularly dirty either.
Overall I think the Soreda was not too bad at all and if I decided to go back to that area of Malta may even stay there again as at least I would know what to expect. If the food was sorted and maybe the carpets in the corridors this hotel would be fine. I still do not think the all inclusive is worth it though and we were better off half board.

First impressions on arrival very disappointing looked nothing like it was conveyed on the internet. After a tiring journey we hoped to settled into our room only to find out that we had to wait over 4 hours before it would be ready. Reception staff were very blazay.
The general state of the hotel looked in desperate need of repair / remodernisation, carpets in corridors were dirty and patched, and just generally shabby.
Amazed at how this hotel could be classed as a 4 star facilities were poor and misinformed. The roof top bar had been advised as being open all day but however closed early evening. The second pool on the ground floor was very shabby and gets no sun light.
The food was basic but generally ok. The waiter service was very slow for drinks and did not find the staff particularly friendly or helpful.
There were no children facilities and would recommended that families with children avoid this hotel. Evening entertainment was very poor best described as a man with a keyboard very dull the only highlight was the fireworks will saw in the distance.
We would not recommend this hotel to anyone and certainly would not want to endure their environment again.
This is not a whinge but a genuine opinion of my families personal experience and feel that the star rating should be changed to a 2 to reflect the standard and environment of the hotel and give people more of an idea as to what to expect.

For the amount of money that my mum and I paid for this holiday the Hotel was SHOCKINGLY bad!!! For those that had a cheap deal and expected a 2 star, then this hotel would be great. But we paid a lot of money expecting a 4 star and this really was not the case! We spoke with many other people at the hotel who were just as upset, horrified and disappointed as we were.
Upon arrival we were told our room would be ready in an hour so we hung around in the "restaurant" which was a dark and dindgy room with no windows where the food was oily and really not appetizing. 4 hours later (and 3 attempts of asking) and our room was finally ready.
When we walked in I could of cried. The staff were so unhelpful and my mum (who has just had surgery) and I lugged our cases to the room with no offer of help. Outside our room there were 3 beds stacked there for some reason, which was a huge fire hazard. Our curtains which looked like shower curtains, didn't even meat in the middle and the decor which matched the rest of the hotel was in a 70s dirty green time warp. Even when we finally entered our room some man was in there on a ladder fixing something. There was mold around the toilet which was really quite disgusting.
As we left to go to "dinner" we discovered our door did not lock!!!!! You could easily push it open!! I am very petite in size so I repeatedly explained to the manager that this was completely unacceptable! He kept trying to assure me that no one would break into out room as they had security cameras but we did not feel comfortable just leaving our room unattended like this. After waiting nearly 2 hours and nearly missing "dinner" the manager finally came to watch our room so we could go down and eat. The same food that was out at lunch appeared again at dinner. Need I say anymore?
To top it all off we also had no air con. They supplied us with a noisy fan that circulated warm air and kept us up all night while we slept on what were practically slacks of wood. The pool water was unclean and foul with no sunbathing space around it. The pool toilet facility you had to climb up decrepit wooden stairs over the boiler area to get to. There was a constant water leak around the bar area also. Which closed between 6pm and 9pm for some reason.
I cannot stress enough how bad this hotel was and how unhappy we were. It is NOTHING LIKE that which is displayed on the website. The travel agent we booked through was unsuccessful in moving us, so on the second afternoon we moved ourselves. If we had not got into another hotel we would've gone home as it was such an unpleasant experience for the large sum of money that we paid. We have stayed in countless hotels all over the world and have NEVER complained or had a single bad experience prior to this.
The hotel we moved to could not be praised more and the service was fantastic so at least our view of Malta is not totally tainted now from our horror experience. I urge anyone to not make the same mistake we did and be misled by the website!!!!! We are taking legal action to get our money back on this disaster.

This should be graded as a basic 3 star hotel to avoid disappoinment or high expectations. Staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean and the rooms were cleaned every day and we had fresh towels. Hotel on a bit of an incline from the nearby rocky beach front. Bars and shops just a short walk away. Roof pool is a decent size with plenty of sunbeds and the other outdoor pool is shaded but is good for families who do not want to be in the sun all day. Food is OK but basic. Plenty of off-street parking for cars. We didn't pay too much for a week here so it was good value for money and I would go back again.

Do not judge the hotel by your first impressions.
When we arrived we had to walk through the bar near the dining room. The carpets were very dirty and smelly. The room was nice and clean. Our room overlooked other balonies, they seem to cram as many rooms in as possible.
The next morning after a nice breakfast we went to the lower outside pool. I have never seen a pool in such a bad state, it was dirty and had chipped paint around and inside the pool. We then found the roof pool which was a lot better but the water was still not very clean. Be carefull at night as there is no lighting around this pool and very dangerous.
The staff in the hotel are very nice, the food was good but the location was a bit quiet and dirty.
Iwill not be returning to Malta and if I did I would not return to this hotel but I would like to see this service from the staff in every hotel I stay in.
It is only the staff that made this holiday enjoyable.

Having Read some previous reports about this hotel I was a bit apprehensive however my fears were soon put to bed.
Upon booking this holiday i had asked for two single rooms on the same floor as i had booked this holiday for my sister and i. When we arrived at reception i was quite pleasently suprised to find that we were to be accommodated in an appartment.
The appartment was light and spacious and although we were staying All Inclusive had a fully stocked Kitchen. The balcony overlooked the courtyard area and both bedrooms were of high standard.
The choice of food at each sitting was superb and the carvey had a good choice each night. If you didnt want a cooked meal as we didnt on a couple of occasions then cold meats and salads were plentily available. As for the deserts there were always at least 2 gateaux style cakes and 1 hot sweet available. The waiting staff were very attentive although sometimes too efficient.
My congratulations have to go to Simon (customer represative), as he was always polite and courtios and nothing was too much bother for him. He would always come and speak to you and enquire as to how your day was, went or was going to be, which made for occasional suggestions as to what to do.
As this was our first trip the the beautiful Maltesse Islands and also the Soreda Hotel it has left me in no doubt that i will return, amd am currently looking at a retur trip next year. I will have no doubt in staying at the Soreda and i fact will reccommend it to all my friends and family.
Thank you Soreda +++++++

On arriving at the hotel, we were advised we would have to stay in a self catering appartment overnight, room 113 and move the following day, when we refused to do this we were given a 1bedroom appartment above the local pub, as this was all that was available, after carrying cases up 3flights of stairs, as there was no lift we unpacked determined not to let this spoil our first visit to Malta. Due to having been up since 3am, we decided to go to bed at 10pm, but the loud music from the pub below ensured we didnt get to sleep till well after midnight.
The following day we spoke to the Mercury direct rep Simon, who was so helpfull, and he spoke to head office and the hotel manager and eventually we were given what we would class as a three-four star room, and also upgraded to all inclusive for the remainder of our holiday.
When we were finally unpacked and settled into the hotel, we were quite satisfied, although 4* in Malta is more like 3* elsewhere.
The standard of cleanliness was very high and towels were changed daily and the staff on the whole were very friendly and helpfull.
One minor complaint would be that in the dining room, tables were not always readilly available or tables re set for the next person.
The restaurant had a good choice of meals, salads and desserts, and the staff were very friendly.
Day trips can be booked along the main street, and you can get a bus from the bus station about 10 minutes walk away, although buses are old the fares are very cheap. The dearest fare is E1.16.
We enjoyed our first visit to Malta, although I dont think we would stay at the Soreda again.

Just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel. After reading the reviews didn't know quite what to expect, but it was lovely. Staff pleasant, room very clean and well located, food plentiful if basic but it was well cooked and presented. The hotel is ideally placed to explore the island being close to the bus terminal. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would just like to say to all the whingers and moaners out there get a life, you go on holiday to enjoy yourselves if you can't live without moaning and complainig stay at home and give the rest of us a break. Oh and if you feel like eating out try reubens drive in restaurant great food and lots of it and just round the corner, but mind your step on the way out!!! Oh and one more thing Simon deserves a mention a very pleasant and hard working young man. All the staff deserve a mention hard working but getting very little thanks, so to everyone thankyou.

My Wife and I have just returned from spending a week in this Hotel and found it to be a perfect base to use for exploring the Island. On arrival we found a very clean room which was kept to a very high standard by the chambermaid. The food was well cooked and was up to a very good standard. The Staff were always very helpful and friendly as were the Maltese People. I quite agree with a previous reviewer who mentioned that some of the comments written about this Hotel were written by the moaning and groaning brigade. We look forward to our next visit to this lovely Island when we will have no hesitation in staying at the Soreda again.

We didn't pay too much so we actually didn't expect too much... If you consider this hotel as a 3* one, you'll be veru disappointed. Nevertheless, I had a great time, thanks to the Finnish people I met there! So, Tero, Pauli and Yüri, if you read this, don't hesitate to mail me :-). Hope you'll all enjoy your holiday. Greetings from Belgium, Carolien

I would just like to comment as I was reading all your comments before I left. I really enjoyed myself at this Hotel ok so It was not what you would normally expect from a 4 star hotel, But we paid the same as if we were staying at a hostel! It was great and clean . The only prob was the breakfast was rubbish but this did not really worry usa whole lot.
The hotels population really goes not dip bellow 55 so we felt a little out of place definately for the seniors. I recommend this place if you dont want to pay alot of money it really worked out well for us as we just used it as a base as we had a car. Qawra is very brittish that is not really my kind of thing , I want to see Malta not Little Britain.

I am writing on behalf of my parents, who returned from a month in the hotel today. They were very disappointed with the room allocated, stating it was very small and dark. Their window overlooked another hotel room, which was quite embarrassing for all parties! They travelled with some friends, who all echoed the same comments. They all paid an extra £200 per couple to be upgraded to a more spacious suite, which was money well spent.
They were not convinced that the hotel warranted its 4 star status (echoing the view of many other reviewees), finding the food lukewarm and lacking in taste and imagination. Upon complaining to management they were given short shrift, and found the Mercury rep unhelpful and unwilling to intervene on their behalf.
Malta is a beautiful island, and I,along with my daughter, will be returning for a third visit next month. If you enjoy culture, architecture and a relaxed holiday then this the place to go. However, judging by the comments of my parents and the others in their party I suggest you do not stay at the Soreda!

This hotel is pretty basic but as we only wanted it as a base whilst exploring the rest of the island that was not a problem. Most importantly, although a bit on the tired side, our room was spotlessly clean and was serviced more frequently than advised.
The people in previous reviews complaining about noise couldn't have tired themselves out enough during the day. Our room was on the 1st floor directly above the main entrance with the stairs and the lifts right opposite our door. Obviously it wasn't quiet but certainly not enough noise to cause us problems.

we stayed at this hotel and found it was not quite as good as expected but warmed to it as the days progressed. As previously mentioned in other reviews it is certainly not a 4 star by UK standards but is well used by all ages. Construction site is next to hotel where they start work early in the morning. Rooftop views consist of cranes and building works. Outside pool on roof and ground level were not used, a high new brick wall shades the ground floor level and the rooftop pool was closed for maintenance and repairs. Food was consistantly cold most days but the spreads were good but staff did not take any notice of our comments . Weekend has influx of locals taking over the hotel with kids running around up till 11pm not often supervised by adults.
Staff were always very helpfull, large rooms well tidy and cleaned daily but some small maintenance required in areas. Entertainment every night was interesting but loud.
Smoking room inside hotel, cheerful staff working 12hrs plus each, all inclusive packages value for money. Wintertime saw many old folk passing their winter in residence who represented 80+ % of residents.
Hotel DOES have WI FI but not mentioned in any reviews or Bookings. Internet access is easily available, 3 computers out of 4 working. UK plug sockets in hotel rooms. Air conditioning not working but heating does.
Overall we found the hotel acceptable and at a reasonable price. We would revisit without reservations. I have paid a lot more for a lot less , so other than the points mentioned we enjoyed ourselves and we are in our 50s
