Mar 2007, Miss A Marshall

I went to stay at the Alton Towers resort and I thought the service was really really good.
I had a fab time there and was made to feel very welcome. Went on loads of rides while we stayed 2 and the bob the builder show they had was great for kids to go and see.

Hotel rooms are nice, though beds getting a little tired, and the fun hidden kids packs were not there, we missed these - on earlier visits they were source of great fun. Rooms are a little small for 4, and too expensive to get 2. Its arguably cheaper to stay in Disneyland per person per night than try this! We felt this more as our sprogs are getting quite big now.
The food at breakfast is again ok, but basic and hard to make a healthy fist of a meal. You can pay (a lot) extra for fried food, and then very generous.
In fact the restaurant is very nice, but seems to cater neither for burger and chips crowds nor for families eating healthily, but if you like tortilla or fish you will be happy. (Once we stayed and had a dinner included in an offer- the included set meal was frankly mean in proportion).
The pool is fabulous - better than any other I have ever seen.
The bars are great, even for kids. Try fruit based children's cocktail drink. Really imaginative and nice.
And the entertainment is great.
Love the public areas of the hotel. The staff are nice, especially the door men.
Could be better though. e.g., selling a larger variety of newspaper - I like the Guardian - I was refused it!
The shop is a bit limited and very dear. I think room service would be nice too. Especially if you have had a strenuous day at the park.
I love the park, and the hotel let you walk there, so you miss all the ridiculous queuing at the entrance which is such a time waster. (You get this even if you book in advance-you have to queue to get your ticket from a machine).

Wow...yes very cold in the park and not much open to us as not fully open yet but as my birthday present the night in the hotel alone totally made up for this.
Entertainment was fabulous and the ship setting where it was staged was out of this world. A lot of thought had obviously gone into this setting suiting all ages, we are 26 and 30 with our daughter of 4 and a half and baby on way and all of us were thoroughly satisfied.
Breakfast was in the restaurant which had to be booked by time slot the night before and it was really tasty and well worth the money.
Kira our daughter also got to find secret compartments in our hotel room and when she eventually found it she was welcomed by a goodie bag.;. Great idea. Kept her amused for 25 minutes.
Will be staying again in august time when warmer.
Worth a visit.

This was a really good hotel in at...

Feb 2004, Mr A M Mcgregor

This was a really good hotel in at the UK's number one theme park.
There was a choice of rooms to have which were all themed differently but I went in a normal room it was very nice inside it had a double bed and a bunk bed so the room hols 4 which is perfect for a family.
It also had a kettle and drinks so you could have a drink when you wanted one.
The room also included an en suit with bath sink and shower unit which is normal.
The hotel itself was alright its all themed in a magical way and so was the restaurant which was themed as a garden and the food was very nice.
There was entertainment at night which I didn’t really enjoy but other people seemed to but when you went back to the room it was nice and quite and you couldn’t hear anything.
Along with staying in the hotel I got 2 hours in the park which was all they aloud as it was the closed season but they had the water park as well which was open most of the time and was very good and new for 2004.
Overall it was a very good hotel.
