" well pleased "

Remember India is still a 3rd world country, try to contribute not just take from Goa
Goans are reknowned for their friendliness and try to please. They leave their expression of kindness in the form of towel art. They try with Dabolim airport too as it was just a military airport. Indias norms and values are different to ours it is rude to raise your voice or point with your finger use your whole hand for gestures. Saw one very large lady walking around Calangute in a bikini top with a thong bottom this is so crass. The last holiday booked through Holidaymania was fantastic value and though the month prior I had paid a lot of money via Thomas Cooke, this holiday was no comparison. The month prior I had to pay to go to a different hotel I had stayed in many times . The Thomas Cooke hotel they had 2 huge furry alsations roaming around. Apart from Goa not being rabies free, I am very allergic to those dogs. No complaints with the Osborne at all, maybe more pricey for food than other places however.

Advice: Goa is just the best

Activities: East Meets West (lobster) Coco beach (dolphins)

" Another Great Holiday "

I have just returned from holiday at the Osborne Hotel, Goa. This hotel is quite basic but very clean. The food is delicious and the staff very friendly, esecially Owen, the waiter who looks after us each year and makes our time there very enjoyable. The hotel maager, James is great and nothing is too much bother, he always takes time to speak to you and make you feel very welcome. All in all very recommendable.

" Clean Friendly 2* Hotel "

Me and my partner arranged this holiday with a group booking of 18 all who stayed at the Osbourne. I wont bore you will what ifs and excellence just how I found the hotel and staff.
On arrival staff tried to get me to purchase a A/C room for £120.00 for the 3 weeks with Tv included, I refused. I was placed on the top floor with around 60 steps no lifts as you would expect in Goa.
I complained to hotel reception who moved me 3 days later I I would of made a fuss they would of moved me sooner, but I compromised. When I seen the room initial shock as I am used to staying in 4-5 star hotel, but thought I am in a poorer country and this is what you get. But once I was over the shock the disadvantages where not that bad.
Rooms are basic but very very clean. You don't need to purchase A/C as all the rooms have extremely powerful ceiling fans above your bed and also in the lounge. I would advise to ask for a ground floor room these are much more spacious. we stayed in Phase 3 where all the bar staff waiter etc where excellent and made my stay at the resort very welcoming.
Entertainment was not up to much except for Mondays where they had Karaoke evenings. The room boys can not do enough for you and all the staff and reception staff are extremely helpful.
To sum the Osbourne up, the hotel is basic 2* extremely clean, food okay and on arrival you will receive 2 free token for each week you stay, they don't have to give you free meals and I thought his was a very kind gesture so we made use of the tokens and all meals are listed near reception so you can pick what evening you wish to go.
I would advise not to use the Taxis outside the Osbourne as I founds them to be quite expensive and very pushy.
Clean, Friendly, helpful, and you are in a much poorer country than the EU.. I would stay again and as there was such a large group of us 14 out of 18 also said that they would stay again.
Power cuts every evening this is the state though not the hotel, power would resume about 15mins later. Would I recommend this to a friend yes indeed.

Advice: You are in a poorer country, but the culture and Goans are extremely friendly and polite

Activities: Ruffles Bar at Candolim for food, and the elephant trip

" the last time "

we have stayed in osbourne before, and it wasnt too bad. this time we went for new year, alldrinks in fridge and from bar 3 months out of date. the boys who came for fridge bill did con you, or try to. we found most waiters had very little understanding of english and kept bringing the wrong order. we love goa and understand the culture difference as this was our 4th time but the osbourne is getting worse and we wont be staying there again.

Advice: the area is nice we ate at taste of india and kebbabs and curries with no problems very cheap and co

" Great holiday "

This is the first time I have been to Goa and it certainly wont be my last. When we arrived at the hotel we were taken to our room and we were very happy with it indeed. We had been warned to expect basic but I had certainly stayed in a far more basic room when I have holidayed in Turkey! 10 minutes later the boys came back and said we werent staying there after all and took us to another room in block A and we were very impressed. There was a separate sitting room from the bedroom and the balcony overlooked the pool area although we were hidden by a tree so offered plenty of privacy.
The food wasnt great here but I hadnt gone to eat in the hotel anyway. The whole point is to experience lots of different places and thats what we did.
The hotel staff were always helpful, courteous and respectful. Couldnt really be said for the hotel taxi drivers whom i found to be total pests and followed you all along the road trying to get you into there cabs!
Overall this holiday was one of the best I have had and for the amount of money we paid is definitely the best value for money holiday I have ever had.
As always though different people have different expectations but if you go with an open mind and an understanding that this is a very poor country you can certainly experience something very good indeed.

Advice: Really enjoyed Calangute, the beaches were good and the Goans adorable.

Activities: Over the Flames was a good place to eat and Fishermans Paradise was a great shack to spend your day.

" Goa,India is a fab place to visit... "

Goa,India is a fab place to visit there is so much to do,trips include a night in the jungle which i would recommend,a day trip on the river to see the crocodiles and other wild life and lunch on the boat belonging to Jake the Snake,an elephant ride through the jungle and the local people dressing you up in their native costume. The food in Goa is out of this world ,people are so friendly, visiting the local bars is a must the Goans make you so welcome,i have to include that ameneties are very basic but that is just part of the culture of Goa.The hotel Osbourne is very clean and friendly as is the hotel Aldeo Belo ,have stayed in both hotels and have made some very long time friends which i still keep in touch with.Ill be visitng Goa again for xmas and the new year im so looking forward to going,i have already contacted my friends in Goa to let them know that i am going back to see them.Again i would recommend this holiday to anyone who likes local culture and likes an adventerous holiday, but the beaches are also beautiful and very clean so you can also have a lazy holiday too if you wish.

" We have been going to the Osborne for... "

We have been going to the Osborne for 10 years (twice some years) and I cant fault it. I know it is basic, but what do you expect for the prices they charge. Goa is beautiful. The staff at the Osborne cant do enough for you and all Goans are very friendly. Zico's, just outside is a great eating place. We are going again this November. The only bad bit was MyTravel. The planes are much to cramped for a long haul flight. First Choice are much better. We are using them this year.

" This was our first time in goa and... "

This was our first time in goa and the osbourne was great. I must admit at first it was culture shock and the first few days i spent getting over jet lag and getting used to goa as it is nothing like anywhere i have been before, the hotel itself was basic but very clean the room boys were great yes there was a metal wardrobe and a old fridge but remember it is india!! and they both did the job!!
The staff are so friendly and will do anything for you and i cant wait to go back and i will be staying at the osbourne again!!
I would reccomend anyone to stay there.
Also go to Daytrippers round the corner for your trips i reccommend the back waters boat trip we managed to see 5 crocs in the wild it was a great trip!!

" Had a lovely time in Goa we stayed at... "

Had a lovely time in Goa we stayed at the Osborne Phase 2 the room was basic and suited our needs as we were out every day on the moped which I recomend as we went all over the place to beaches which were great. The staff at the Osborne are great and cant do enough for you. We have booked to go back next Feb and are staying in phase 1 this time.

If you go you must go to After Seven you can get a great Steak and also if you can take pens pencils and pads over for the children instead of giving them money

" Stayed in the Osborne Hotel. Is a 2... "

Stayed in the Osborne Hotel. Is a 2 star hotel but value for money. Rooms were clean and had all that we needed. Was placed in the Classic phase which was nice as had a quiet pool to sit by during the day but could use the other pools if wanted to. Only thing which is a bit of a con is that you have to pay for the air conditioning when you arrive, we needed it as was very hot at night. Suppose is a way of them getting extra money.
Waiters were in the whole very good. Have to be careful of the odd one as can look to add little things to drinks bill but most are very good, if a little slow but that is the Goan way.

There are so many good restaurants around the area that it is hard to include them all in here . I do suffer from a bad stomach at the best of times but only got a bad stomach once and doctor gave me some tablets to take which sorted it out straight away, just wish had called him on first day not third as wasted a couple of days.
We ate in what I would call good restaurants and it was only costing about £8-£10 for three course meal and drinks for 2 of us. Would have to recommend the restaurant After 7. Is a bit more expensive but worth it as the food quality is amazing. Is like a 5star ala carte restaurant but get good sized portions. Cost us about £20 for three course meal plus drinks for two of us. Recommend the fillet steak there as it is beautiful.

Jewellery is very cheap there so worth saving up some money and getting what you want. They can copy any jewellery from here so if find something here take a picture of it out with you and they will make it for you. Some other people we met also got glasses made which are meant to be very worth while. For the ladies you can get very good designer handbags out there which are cheap and cant tell that are copies. ( Radley, Jimmy Choo, D&G etc). Make sure have room in suitcase to bring them all back.

For returning home you need to make sure that your suitcases are not over weight as you get charged alot for it.

All in all Goa is worth visiting. The value for money is definitley up there with most countries in the world. It is no Maldives or exclusive resort but is definitly worth a visit. We will be back again.
Hope this has been of some help to people going for the first time.

" BE WARNED STAY AWAY the hotel is a... "

BE WARNED STAY AWAY the hotel is a DUMP meatal cabanets for wardrobes when you whent into the swimming pool it turned you green ruined all our swimming gear. When you get your bill from the waiters check it they allways rip you off they add extra drinks on the bill thinking you caint remember because you had a couple of drinks. The room boys are the same taking drinks out of your fridge and charging you for them then when they come and ask for the bill and you pay them they never fetch the change back. Stay away from the theme nights they are rubbish. The food it was that bad you could not eat it. the best place for food and drink was ZICOS it is just outside of the hotel. Dont use the taxi drivers outside the hotel they rip you off get them outsie of babouts they are really good lads thney will look after you.

" First visit to Goa and was so... "

First visit to Goa and was so impressed I shall be returning in December this year. Stayed at the Osbourne and felt at home straight away. Although the hotel rooms are very basic they are clean with the sheets and towels changed daily by the very helpfull room boys who also made beautifull pictures on our beds with towels etc.

The waiters were very polite and helpfull ,nothing was too much trouble for any of them especially Raj (a right del boy ) Chris, Kanan, Sunhil and Roy just to name a few. We used the taxis based outside phase 1&2 Raymond, Paul and Sandeep who if we went further afield stayed with us at no extra cost or came back for us at the time specified.

Good places to eat are

EAST MEETS WEST
SWEET CHILLI
SEASHELLS
WHY KNOT, just to name a few and all reasonably priced.

All I can say is remember you are going to a third world country, don`t expect 5* standards and every one at the Osbourne keep up the good work and see you all soon.
