Osborne Hotel

Though the accommodation is basic, you really only use your room for sleeping in. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There are so many different restaurants nearby or in local towns serving delicious food, it's difficult to know where to start.
You really need taxis to go to most places other than the local shops, but these are really cheap, and you can quite often negotiate a good rate. It's worth making the effort to spend whole days on the beach - the beach shacks may look primitive, but again, the food is good value, and the fresh fruit juices are delicious. Don't be frightened to ask for something that's not on the menu - they love a challenge. For those that pine for 'pie and chips' there's also a local restaurant that has an English menu in tandem to the traditional Goan one - their steak and ale pie and chips are the best I've tasted (well, I had to try it at least once!) It's a really safe resort and I didn't feel at all threatened going out on a solo trip as a lone female.
The street vendors will always try to sell you something as you walk past their stall, but they're harmless and will not be at all offended if you just say 'no thanks' to what they're trying to sell. We've travelled to a lot of continents and enjoyed them all, but none as much as Goa.

This is a basic but very clean hotel in the heart of Calangute. Staff are really friendly and always there to help you if need be. We went for two weeks and are retuning there again this coming Feb for three weeks staying at this hotel again. We made many friends there some of who are retuning with us.
I recommend this hotel to anyone of all ages although there’s not much for children at night there’s plenty of places to take them during the day. I never took mine this year but i am taking my son of 11 next time. Cant wait to return.
