Garden Istra Hotel

We arrived at the Sol Garden Istra hotel late evening, and were immediately pleased with the extremely polite and attentive attitude of the staff. They had even kept the restaurant open late for us, the only two arrivals that evening.
The hotel was renovated recently and has been stylishly decorated. The bedroom was spacious, with a huge double bed and fully equipped with hairdryer, television and safe. Although we would have appreciated more than one English speaking TV channel.
The pool area is gorgeous, including three pools, interconnected with small waterfalls, overlooked by the pool bar, which served reasonably prices snacks and drinks all day.
There was a buffet style breakfast and dinner in the large restaurant area, dinner being served until 10pm. Although the food was perfectly adequate, with a large variety being offered, unfortunately it did become repetitive, with virtually the same food being served three nights in a row. By the end of the week we found we were so sick of the food we had loved so much on the first few nights that we ended up eating out.
Despite becoming bored of the food, I would still recommend a visit to this hotel. It is located close to a very rocky beach with bathing platforms (great if you hate getting sand everywhere, not so good if you’re looking for a traditional beach).
The sports facilities are fantastic, including horse riding, cycling, rollerblading, walking and tennis, and these are all easily accessible. There is a sauna, steam room and beauty salon located in the hotel. All of the staff of the garden Istra went above and beyond their duty to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
