After doing much research we decided on the Surfing Playa Apartments due to the great reviews already received and we were not dissappointed. The apartments are basic but clean and what we required for a weeks holiday there. We arrived at 3am and had not been clever enough to remember to get water before arriving and with only euro notes were limited to what we could do. The gentleman on reception kindly changed our money to and showed us to a vending machine just across the road at the nearest supermarket. A good first impression. If you have read other reviews and enjoy a cuppa then yes be a good idea to get yourself a travel kettle. Our apartment was located with a side view and very quiet. The maids were very friendly and we had 3 visits in 6 days. The one additional bonus to these apartments is the air con and what a great bonus!
The pool was enjoyable, clean and plenty of sunbeds for all, in the height of the summer can imagine this gets very busy indeed. The location of the apartments is great, only 5-10 mins walk into Santa Ponsa (the quiet side) with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose. Some of our favourites were No.8 Bar and Grill is little gem. Offering something a little different to the other 'samey' places on the strip. Contemporary decor, stylish furniture and lovely people who run and work there. Thanks to Julian (owner), Heidi and Kerry for our enjoyable evenings, only wish we had found this place sooner. The food is wonderful, recommend the BBQ chicken and sausage and mash and my husband cannot recommend the banoffi pie more highly.
Another is Meson Del Mar, with its fantastic views over the bay and some great dishes - the duck for one, however not all as nice and worth the money. Fat Sams opposite the large beach offers good size portions of delicous food. For some cheaper meals, try Bobby's for 18 Euros we enjoyed a hearty lunch plus drinks! On our stroll home we often popped into Salsa, a little bar run by 2 lovely english people -worth a visit. Finally, ACKC's, a small bar opposite Salsa again for late night drink worth a visit, and the owner is a nice chappy.
The walk to the other side of the bay takes about 15 mins max, this brings you to the lively clubby side and this is suited to those wanting lively, clubs and bars.
The apartments are very close to the 'small' beach 5 mins max to walk. The is a great place for those with children but we found it peaceful and a lovely swim. If you continue to walk past the little beach you come to a marina and look out offering some great views of the bay.
All in all we would highly recommend the Surfing Playa to those wanting good value for money, and the location is great - quiet yet near to everything you need and would definitely go back.

Just returned, excellent apartments, very clean and have air conditioning. Pool area is great and not far from either beaches and some very good restaurants and bars. All staff are very friendly (although returned late one night and got told to be quiet when not making very much noise)! Highly recommended!!

just got back from a short break in santa ponsa and stayed in the surfing playa appartments i have no complaints at. all staff were all very pleasent and helpful, pool spotless clean, plenty of sun loungers, rooms airconditioned plenty of room very clean. would most certinly stay there again short walk to centre which was nice because the appartments were quite being just on the outskirts if i went again i would take a travel kettle as there was no kettle that was the only thing missing, but it certinaly would not put me of staying there again. LOVED IT

Just got back from a week in santa ponsa, hotel has air con, clean (no bugs etc) and is basic but great value for money,is made up of 7 three/four storey apartments set around a fair size pool,no problem with sufficient sun beds until large familiy of irish who blocked 18 beds before 4am every morning !
NO KETTLE and limited cooking facilities.
however plenty of eating options locally.our apartment was next to road which is a bit noisy .
Not much going on in hotel as it is so small but this has its advantages
Plenty of excellent nightlife a 10/15 mins walk , or quiet local bars if you prefer on your doorstep, shop over road
,avoid restaurants with best sea view ! they are rubbish,go to 'rickies' and 'sams bar' for food, bar 'rumba' for drink, best for family entertainment is 'strings bar'(in irish sector)
there was four of us including two 16/17 year olds.
excellent week I will be returning !
TIP make sure you visit 'daniels corner' for a drink and tip bar staff !

Basic but very clean. There is a small beach just beside the apartments and a larger one just short walk away. Quiet area of the resort but this is good if you have young children.
The pool area is clean and tidy. The reception is well stocked with tourist information and there is also internet connection for a fee. It is a good base for touring the island. My only gripe is that there is no kettle or grill in the apartment. The microwave has a grill in it but is not much use for toast etc.
I would certainly use these apartments again.

Well I have just returned from Santa Ponsa, Surfying Playa and I certainly plan to return next year.
The only reason the apartments are 1 star is because it has no lift, I’d say the rooms were at a 2.5 star standard and a big plus is they all have free air conditioning. Ex pats I spoke to in Bars etc all tell their relatives and friends to stay at surfying playa when visiting, so that’s speaks volumes for the resort.
Don’t worry about kettles and toasters as it is so cheap to eat out 8 - 10 euro for a 3 course meal at many restaurants on the same road as Surfying Playa. Recommendations are Mistys and Bobbys for food and Bar Rumba for a quiet night cap.
The apartments are set in the quiet end of Santa Ponsa, about 5-10 min walk from the town and the main beach. However, 1 min walk from the apartments is the 'little beach' this is where all the locals go, its fantastic if you have little ones as they can safely paddle within arms reach and the water depth does not suddenly drop.
My only winge about Surfying Playa is the cleaners start earlier in the morning and the noise can wake you up, but hey you can catch some zz’s on the little beach.
The little beach does not contain sun beds, so take a big beach towel and an umbrella. Heaven.

I’ve given these apartments 9/10 as for cheap basic accommodation they are fantastic. Air con, very clean and everything you need, simple kitchen and balcony, good pool and plenty of space for sunbeds etc. They are situated in the quite part of town nearest to the restaurants and a short stroll to either the Marina or the main part of town.
Great base to visit Palma (short bus ride on 102 from bus terminal) or even Palma nova/Magaluf (6/7 euros via taxi). Internet available and check out the local English Magazine all about the area available everywhere.

What a disappointment! Surfing Plays looks very nice from the outside. We knew they were advertised as basic- but there's basic and basic - what holiday apartments do you go into and there isn’t even a kettle in it! (On hire EUR12 per week!) (No toaster either nor grill on the cooker).
The reason we like self-catering is the fact that you can get up in the morning and have a cup of tea etc without messing around to go downstairs as in a hotel. They were clean - no clean sheets during the week but towels changed x 3 per week. Funnily enough, there was a hairdryer (but no kettle). The pool area was small but nice, we were the only Brits there at the time (five of us) the rest seem to have come from oop North (i.e. Finland/Estonia?).
The location was extremely good, right next to Santa Ponsa Marina and a tiny little harbour away from the main resort with a friendly bar called the Sirrocco.
The main resort was only a 10/15 min walk, the beach only 5 mins down the road. Beware, if you are of a certain age, the main resort area is full of Irish bars literally one after the other and it can be a bit rowdy. There is a nice walk along the coast towards Peugera but very hilly with beautiful views over the bay. There is a "circle" comprising of bars/restaurants at the top of the Hill and there seemed a lot of competition between the Scots and Irish establishments.
Some really nice places to eat and on the whole a great holiday with friendly people, gorgeous weather and scenery!
