I stayed at the Plevna for a week in April 2010 the staff
were great apart from the cook he or she should be fired,
the food was inedable,I spent one day in bed with food
poisoning.
When I was there the pool and spa area was closed due to building work.
the hotel is in a good area for tours and the ferries.

Hi All
My wife & I stayed at the Plevna for a week 4th December 09,all i can say is we had a great time meet some great people in the bar the barmen big Joe & Norvic are great fun.
Joe's 2nd team is the TOON ARMY.
Yes the decor is abit dated but the rooms are very clean & tidy.(Cleaning staff work hard)
The restaurant has a good choice of food well cooked & presented you can oder your eggs cooked as you like in the mornings.(But they need a better toaster)good staff.
We might have been lucky with the crowd we meet in the bar Colin/The Machams/ TheJock & Bernard (even Nick)all good fun.
Thanks to them all for making our holiday so friendly, hope we bump into you lot again.THE GEORDIES Steve & Brenda

we enjoyed our stay at the hotel plevna Our room was nice The public areas are all nice and well cared for The hotel food was excellent as were the staffThe hotel lacked a bit of entertainment which was suitable for the older generationThe location of the hotel makes it an excellent base to explore the island by cheap local bus and if on all inclusive the hotel will give you a packed lunch which we found to be goodWe think this hotel is excellent value for money remembering malta is now in the euro zone

Thank god for the staff!!
The staff are wonderful and we wish we could say the same for the hotel.
We changed rooms three times- along with other guests. The reception staff have a very difficult job- everyone wanting to change rooms.
The hotel has not been fully refurbished only part of the second floor.
We were there over Christmas and new year- we have been to Malta many times and this hotel is in the worst condition we have ever encountered- maybe when all the refurbishment is done and all the repairs needed to the building it will be OK?
But I don’t think we will give it another try.

We have just returned from the Hotel Plevna and at the best we rate it as a two star. The Beach Club stopped serving Pizza and Chicken nuggets the day after we got there. My son who is fourteen was not amused at this.
The acting Manager told me to take him to one of the many restaurants in Sliema. When I pointed out that I had already paid for 5 people at an all inclusive rate he just shrugged his shoulders and turned away.
The staff at the hotel are quite friendly although the drinks are watered down. My father witnessed the bar man pouring a jug of water into the wine jug that was to be used at the evening. The food was edible but there was not a lot of choice.
The Hotel is situated in an ideal position and to be fair the Beach Club and pool is not too far away. We think the Hotel would be more suitable for the elderly, there was an organist who played twice a week and there was little else going on. There is nothing for teenagers or children to do in the hotel. We would definitely go to Sliema again just not that Hotel.

I have horrid memories of this hotel. Travelled with friends for a month long winter holiday but the temp seldom got above 11degs at noon, even the locals wore fur collared full-length coats.
The air conditioning in our room smelt decided sickening and the patio doors had a 1" gap when “closed", huge marble staircases made for a freezing cold hotel. Lots of guests had flu. It was a miserable holiday.
It angers me to see Malta billed “with year round sun ". It has nothing of the kind. Even ferries and cruises were cancelled on account of the wind.
Let's not mention the food. The enormous head chef gave us a packed lunch of 2 dry cream crackers and an apple each as a substitute for the dinner we missed on dep. day.
Entertainment was equally stingy........one old man playing a piano some nights. That was it.
If you must holiday in Malta (because it's cheap!!!) stick to summertime.

Stopped at the Plevna hotel end of June.
Hotel clean and tidy staff were great. Lunch at The hotels Lido were good and varying.
Evening meals were fine but not as much choice.
Rooms were cleaned daily. Maid was polite said morning every day.
Plenty of sunbeds down at the Lido, and a pool also good for swimming in the sea.
Local bars were fine.

The food was poor. Although the service was good. The week I was there the bar was not open as it should have been, and one night the girl behind the bar was locking all up at 2230 not bad to say the bar was open till 2345. The entertainment they had was dire.
Having lunch at the pool is not good enough. There was no tea coffee cakes or biscuits readily available through the day as stated in the brochure.
The general feeling I got was that the hotel was understaffed the reason only known to them. All the things mentioned above are suppose to be readily available for all inclusive guests but were not. The hotel was basically closed down through the day everything was at the pool.
I would not use again unless there were some drastic changes to the running of the hotel and the food.

Accommodation clean and comfortable including TV and fridge. Rooms needed refurbished but fine for a base, rooms were in the process of being updated.
Location excellent with shops and promenade within easy reach, also great for getting around the Island on a very cheap public bus service.
I stayed at the hotel on an all inclusive basis which was good value for money with a good selection of meals, snacks and drinks. Room was cleaned and towels replenished daily.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and made the guests feel welcome.
Weather not brilliant but hotel not responsible for that, and did not stop me from having a very enjoyable holiday.
This was the first holiday I have booked on the internet and must admit I was a bit apprehensive. I booked 5 days before flying with a company I had not heard of (Choice Holidays). Everything was perfect and organised without any hassle. All I had was a reference number but flights, transfers and booking into the Plevna could not have been easier.

The hotel was close to the beach and of a good standard. Food was OK, breakfasts not great - you have to be at the restaurant really early to get a good selection of food. Dinner was better - in the first sitting, although the service was very good.
The hotel lido is a short walk down to the beach - I could see it from the balcony of my room, it is not state of the are, but still the attendants are friendly. A sunbed cost ML1, but you could have it for the whole day - even if you went away and returned when the midday hot sun was more comfortable.
Sliema is in a central location for most of the Maltese tours, which are organised by the tour operators, we did trips around Malta (by coach), to Gozo (Malta’s sister island), boat trip around Malta and comino, trip to Sicily.
There is also a dolphins leisure complex where you can swim with the dolphins.
Maltese lira is the currency, but some of the Maltese still refer to it as pounds and cents ( from the British occupation).
Prices are cheaper, but not greatly so in comparison with the UK - apart from the busses - they are cheap and frequent but old and crowded.

good things:good location, shopping centre is just 2 min walk, beach just 3min walk, but just rocky beach, not sandy.plevna beach club dont have a sandy beach, just a swimming pool and stairs ,which you can use go down to rocks.staff is very friendly, especially hotel barmens, french students. negative things:food is average, especially in beach club, restaurant food in the hotel is average as well, cheff women is very rude, and gives very less food in the plate if you asc more she grabs plate from your hands and puts bigger piece, but you dont want eat anymore after that service..other women(the students working in hotel call her bulldog)in the beach club as well rude, trying to show you ,that you ordering too much.bedroom cleanliness is poor, toilet has not been cleaned after we arrive, just day before we leave,it was always bad smell in bathroom, black towels by color,so you cant say its been washt or not .would not cam back never ever
