Me and my 3 children have just returned from a weeks holiday,we were put into block 8 which is a 10min walk from the restaurant which is down hill going but unfortunatly not coming back! too far in my opinion... The pool for this block would have been quite close had we of... more

Self catering thank god! we stayed in block 8 which has a nice pool bar with good prices. 3-5 min walk from beach, 30 min walk to puerto del carmen. 5-10 min drive from airport. 2 bed apartment was spacious enough with 2 bathrooms. I would go back again.

we have stayed in these bungalows several times.
great location lovely walks bars etc nearby.
only fault we found is the beds.
the beds are not comfortable.
we are now in our fifties but stsyed here when our children were younger.
they loved the sol hotel nearby for evening entertainment.

I stayed at Las Gaviotas over the New Year period. The bungalows are not suitable in my opinion as an All Inclusive package. If I was going on a self catering deal I would give the site a higher rating for sure. They are poorly designed having to walk about 10 minutes to... more

not a great hoiday
Did havea wonderful holiday but on the last night our apartment was robbed. They gained entry via aother apartment and stole nearly everything of value we had. The staff were very good at the time. Police called and went and made statement. Got back to the apartments and manager stated that he would use hotel insurance to compensate me. I thought this was great at the time and took them up on there offer. When we returned to UK we heard nothing from them. I called them a few times but was fobbed off on each occasion. I ended claiming on my own insurance but got nowhere as I had left it to long. In future I will not trust anyone at that hotel. Further to this I am convinced this was an inside job as the other apartment had not been robbed, just ours on our last night when it would have been full of goodies to take home with us. Because of this I will never go back to Lanzarote again. Make sure you lock everything up its not worth it.
Good value accomadation
booked with Travel Republic, was surprised at the quality of the bungalow for the price. A couple of minutes from the beach and 1 minute to shops & restaurants. Set out in in blocks, each with their own pool and sunbathing area. Very clean and well kept, maid service most days. Blocks 1 & 2 opposite shopping/bar area and 3&4 may be quieter. Very windy when we were there but warm & sunny, Puerta Del Carmen only a 5 euro taxi ride away. Try set meal at Chinese (Hong Kong)12.5 euro's for a 3/4 courses and a free bottle of wine, may change in peak summer. Matagorda Beach good, sea cold but clean, sun beds 6 euro,s for two+brolly. Close to airport 8-10 euros to hotel. Travelled Viking Airways from East Midlands, good service, cheap and included meal on plane. Good flight times delay 1 hour on return. Travel Republic were excellent Enjoyable 1 week break
Good looking for their age
My husband and I stayed at these lovely liitle Apartments on the 2nd of February . On arrival we were allocated to area 5 which is at the back of the Beatriz playa hotel (five mins away from sea front ) . we really wanted to be a little closer than this ,so asked the Gent & Lady on reception if it was possible to move ? In less than five minutes we were put into area 3 ,which we found to be an excellent area (2 mins from sea front ). Also we could have fell into the heated pool and resteraunt we were that close ( Very handy ). Inside the apartment ..... lets remember these were built in 1986 !! As reported by another reviewer ... yes we agree .. if they had just been built in last few years they would have been FIVE star's ,easily . We only stayed one week (wish it had been a little more ) The maids were really on the ball cleaning and changing towels etc five days out of the seven we were there . Lets get one thing clear, the furnishings and towels etc are not brand new but are far from being old and shabby and we make this comparisson to the San Antonio Hotel which we also stayed in only a few weeks ago as well ... the Gaviotas is a 3 star doing it's best to give you comfort and value for money . If you want more than they offer ,which is very good , then we suggest you try some of the top hotels which will pamper you for a higher price ,but if you like average but clean and low cost then this is the one for you . A safe in the complex costs 17 Euro's ,which 10 Euros is refunded on departure . TV is 21 euro's a week if you want more than basic TV ...You can rent film channels ,but be warned some are of an explicit nature . They will rent you cars bikes and a whole lot of other things you may need on your holiday . Last but not least .. when we wanted a taxi up into Puerto del Carmen the reception phoned one for us ,at no cost ,what helpful people they are . We will return to this complex , can't wait !
Extremely happy with this one!
We arrived on the 28th december and there was 7 or us in 2 bungalows which we asked to be next to each other by the pool. we were next to each other but just a few steps away from a pool in the cascades area(block 8). lovely pool with section for young children which was ideal. there were plenty of sunloungers for everyone . The service was very very good. We needed extra pillows and they arrived in ten mins. our friends who were in the next bungalow needed a toaster and they had one in 5 mins. the bungalows were very spacious and well equipped. i would say that if the complex had been newly built i would have called it a five star complex. But as all reviews i have read said some of the furniture was well worn!!! ours was ok. We had hairdryers supplied too. in all i couldnt fault the apartments atall. The weather was brilliant and the nearest shopping complex had a spar supermarket and a supermercado. We found the supermercado to be more expensive. Puerto del carmen was a comfortable 20minute stroll away. And we generally got a cab back. Was a fantastic holiday and would definatley go back again. there are seven blocks altogether all with pools and some are heated. Also when you arrive there is a small minibus to take you to your apartment. They also have security patrolling the premises 24hrs..... Cant wait to go back just need to book flights!!!!!!!!!!!!
hated this complex
stayed three weeks at this dump it was filthy the bedding stank sheets only one changed per week towels thread bare changed twice a week how any one can rate these bungalowes has good i shudder to think some people will put up with any thing they are not for us british only cater well for the germans and spanish who do has they like and make all the rules. the day time receptionist a male unhelpfull i would not even rate these bungalowes one star,
perfect
Just back from a week staying at these bungalows, with our 3 year old and 1.5 year old. The apartsments were well worn but very clean, plenty of space for kids to run around. I liked the fact they supplied washing up liquid and sponge in the kitchen. The weather was a cloudy some days so the heated pool was great for the children. Very close to shops and beach and easy to get around with buggies. I would consider going back next year.
does exactly what it says on the tin
i stayed at the las gaviotas from the 1st to the 8th of nov with my family and found the apartments to be average. if you are a person that hygiene is a major concern stay clear as we found not to be the cleanest place to stay, the pool could have been cleaned more often. however the staff were helpful and polite and the location is perfect right beside matagorda beach.
Great location, great holiday
Just returned from a week at the Bungalows Gaviotas and we will definitely be going back! We were in Bungalow 2, Block 2 which is just 2 minutes from the complex with restaurants, shops, bars etc. The swimming pool in our block was never crowded and cleaned daily. The bungalow itself was great, large living area, good sized bedroom and bathroom. All cleaned five days out of seven and maintained well. Was a little concerned when I saw a large can of Cockroach spray under the sink, but it obviously frightened them away because we saw nothing bigger than a tiny ant all week! Staff friendly, except for the receptionist when we arrived, he had obviously had a long day. Next day he was all smiles! We had a lovely laid back holiday, eat too much in the restaurants (the local Chinese and Greek are great) and even celebrated an Aston Villa win in Barti's Bar! Will happily recommend Gaviotas to anyone - as great value for money in a superb location
Very enjoyable
just returned from a 14 night stay at Las Gaviotas Bungalows. First impressions were not great. Our door would not open properly, it stuck on the tiles every time we opened/closed it. The paintwork seemed a bit shabby. it looked as if someone had taken out a large roller and slapped white paint everywhere, there were spots of paint all over the floor. However, the place soon grew on us. It wasn't unclean, just a bit shabby. We were in block 1, closest to the shopping centre. We opened the door (noisily) and were right by the pool. Carry on for a further 30 seconds and we were right on the prom overlooking the beach. The location was ideal. The bungalows were cleaned every couple of days with bed linen and towels changed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The nearby shopping centre had everything we needed. A couple of well stocked supermarkets, several restaraunts and a few bars. A leisurely stroll along the prom brings you to more cafes and bars and a few shops. As mentioned, you do hear noise from the airport but the planes landing and taking off are more of an attraction than an annoyance. It is well worth taking a walk along to the end of the runway to see the planes close up. There a very few taxis that take 5 passangers so we quickly found that the bus service was adequate and more cost effective. There are a couple of bus stops close by and the busses run every 20 minutes. All in all, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday at Las Gaviotas and would recommend the complex to anyone.
Perfect Lanzarote
We stayed in Las Gaviotas Bungalows and everything was perfect. Staff were helpful and friendly. Each bungalow was clean and well equipped. furniture looked new. No signs of wear or stains etc. Maid service daily. Restaurant good. Pool cleaned daily and filled with salt water - lovely. Beach just 20 steps away this also was cleaned every day. Life guards but was very safe water. No sign of litter anywhere. Taxis cheap. Eating out was great, delicious food and reasonably priced. Weather hot every day and trip into the mountains amazing. No noise at night. We tried to think of a fault but couldnt think of one. My teenage girls and I burst into tears when we left, so we will be back for sure!
