just returned last night from a terrific stay at these appartments, did the breakfast option good decision plenty of choice. The resturant manager Alihandra was extremely pleasant and very entertaining each morning. we stayed in block 4 very close to beach, appartments very clean with everything you require for a relaxing break. will certainly be going back..

Self catering thank god! we stayed in block 8 which has a nice pool bar with good prices. 3-5 min walk from beach, 30 min walk to puerto del carmen. 5-10 min drive from airport. 2 bed apartment was spacious enough with 2 bathrooms. I would go back again.

family of 5 went (children 2 and 6)stayed in block 8 which was far too far away from the restaurant/ canteen, can only describe it as this as simply that is all it was, was all inclusive but to our horror discovered that there was no entertainment whatsoever for the children (or ourselves for that matter), the food quality and variaty was appalling, all there seemed to be was fish or steak, it lacked variety and quality and was extremely lazily presented, got the impression we were the dirty washing as the all inclusive guests, someone has already made reference to only being entitled to cheese toasties and chips from the block 8 pool bar if all inclusive
the lack of entertainment or anything remotely resembling a bar/chill out area to enjoy what we had paid for was exasperated by the 10:30 last drink which in effect sent us out to pay for drinks in the nearby complex where there was a live entertainer etc as the early closure time limited the option to go out for an hour or 2 before coming back and enjoying a few drinks in the 'canteen'
to conclude this complex has tuned in to the all inclusive but in my opinion does not think past its own nose and in effect it is a money making racket, pure and simple, i mean how can you go somewhere all inclusive for 10 days and have no entertainment whatsoever
the food was that poor we ate out a couple of nights, in Alcudia last year i spent 35 euros outside the complex, here i spent over 300: sums it up really !!
the area is great and self catering would be attractive though not at this 'canteen'

went to these bungalows for eleven nights over christmas and new year with my family.after reading some reviews we were a bit apprehensive.some people must be born to moan!the bungalows were clean, the food was excellent and plenty of it.we were in block 8 a five minute stroll from the restraunt,we had a heated pool with a snack bar serving toasties and drinks if you dident want to get off your sun bed for lunch.we were all inclusive and i would recomend this to anyone.the range of food was excellent, from king prawns mussels fish lamb pork, steaks paella,to pasta fresh veg potatoes, enough to suit anyone. my grand children enjoyed everything.the staff could not do enough for you,and were curtious and polite.the only reason i did not give a 10,is that it would have been nice to have had a bit of entertainment some nights.thanks to all for a great holiday

I was more than anxious proir to our stay at these bungalows after reading the reviews from several other people. I spent several sleepless nights before we departed worrying about what our accomodation would be like.
On arrival we were greeted at reception and told that we were in Block 8! My heart sank as I had read several 'horror stories' about this accomodation. To his credit the receptionist did offer to move us to a block closer to the main complex area when he realised we were all inclusive. My husband being more laid back than me suggested that we see what the accomodation was like before junping to conclusions.
On entering the bungalow we were VERY plesantly surpised. THe rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped. Nothing like the horror pictures described in other reviews! Yes there is a small (5 minute) walk from block 8 to the main restaurant but nothing major, obviously some people are too lazy to walk a short distance! We actually found block 8 to be quiet and more private than some of the other blocks.
The staff at Las Gaviotas were all very friendly and helpful.
The food was fine, admitedly it was not always piping hot but even myself, a self confessed fussy eater did not starve.
We would definately stay at these bungalows again in the future. They provided an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Definately go for a walk along the perimiter fence of the airport and watch the planes fly overhead and also enjoy the sandy beaches and crystal waters.

I stayed at Las Gaviotas over the New Year period. The bungalows are not suitable in my opinion as an All Inclusive package. If I was going on a self catering deal I would give the site a higher rating for sure. They are poorly designed having to walk about 10 minutes to get to the main restaurant, in fact the only restaurant and bar on the 155 roomed complex ! This restaurant/bar actually closed at 10 pm at night, leaving you nowhere to have a sociable drink or chat baring in mind this was an all inclusive deal ! I have never been to an All Inclusive hotel/apartments with such an appalling layout or lack of facilities or entertainment. I paid £598 for a 7 day stay, so this was certainly not a cheaper option !
The bungalows were clean, albeit maid service was somewhat limited and towels werent replaced regularly, in fact we sat and watched the maid clean the room and this took approx 5 mins !! However she did sing the whole time, and was quite pleasant which is more than could be said for some of the staff there !!
If I had paid a lesser amount of money and gone Self Catering I think I would be slightly more pleased with these bungalows, as the actual resort and location was excellant and I would definately return to Matagorda, however not to Las Gaviotas on an All Inclusive basis.
The food at this hotel was very basic, however what we eat was tasty, sometimes it was cold and if the trays were empty they were filled on not a very prompt basis. The alcohol was free flowing however only between after 6pm until 10 pm which makes the very essence of All Inclusive ludicrous, not to mention the fact that if you wanted anything except a sandwhich at the pool bar during the day, you had to pay for it as it did not come under the All Inclusive deal !!! I have never come across this in all the years I have gone on an all inclusive holiday !!
In summary, a great location/ resort, but I would not entertain an all inclusive package at Las Gaviotas. And talking of entertainment, there was none !!!
- Advice: Matagorda is an excellant resort, particularly for couples or young families.

we stopped at the las gaviotas bungalows from the 22nd of feb to the 1st of march, we were given a bungalow close to the sea, and the view was very good. the bungalow was a good size, a little dated but clean and well kept, the staff were very helpful. we had to pay 17.50 for the safe in the bungalow, and it was an extra 24 euros if you wanted to watch the tv, but we did not bother with this. we stayed all inclusive. there was not a huge amount of choice of food, but there was plenty of it and quite tasty at that, drinks where ok using local spirts which is always a little less stronger than branded stuff, but you could have as much as you wanted. the resort is nice and quiet, a 10 min walk and your in puerto del carmen which has more bars and restaurants. the bungalows are close to the airport and planes land and take off all the time and they fly quite close, however this did not bother us, as you don't even notice the noise. you actually get use to the airport, and i found it to be quite interesting. a short 5 min walk and you can walk along the the side of the airport and see the planes landing and takeing off. a couple of tips; i booked my own transfers from the uk it cost us 34 pounds return, i did not realise the bungalows are so close to the airport, it would of cost 7 euros in a taxi, 14 euros return, a total saving of 20 euros. also if you are there for a short while and not really in to tours do take the short tour to timaanfaya park to see the volcanoes it is quite a site, and you can only see the park in a coach not if you hire a car. the trip was from 10am back at 2pm, just nice and it cost 40 euros for 2 of us, some operators will charge you more so shop around. we could of stayed self catering but it is more or less 1 euro to 1 pound. an average meal in a restaurant was 8 euros plus drinks, this over 7 days, say 2 meals a day would be expensive. we had 2 gin and tonics in bar costing 11 euros, which is more or less 11 pounds. if you are like me i book my own flights and accomadation, you save a few hundred pounds if you do not use a tour operator. i would stay again at these bungalows. we are aged in our forties and in feb the average age of people who were there was 50 plus we found this ok, but if you are younger this might be for you, but perhaps in the high season there might be more younger people.

We were in Lanzarote March-April for one week. Las Gaviotas was just what we needed and wanted. Nice bungalow, the restaurant and pool nereby. Everything went okay. Our three year old boy was very happy to play by the pool and run around. Weather was fine - a bit windy though. Hired a jeep and drove around the island aswell. Nice views.
We left our camera charger behind and the stuff of Las Gaviotas sent it to us.
Nice island! Would recommend also the hotel for those who choose bungalow.

I have stayed in Las Gaviotas on four previous occasions with my wife and son, and but for my last visit would probably still consider returning. There was an error made with the arrival dates and when we arrived on the last visit someone had us booked in for one week later, with the result that we had no accomodation. Luckily the receptionist was able to contact a neighbouring apartments which was able to accomodate us for five of our seven night stay. After this the Gaviotas offered no apology and no further assistance was forthcoming. My advice would be that if you choose to stay there make sure that every i is dotted and every T crossed.

Me and my 3 children have just returned from a weeks holiday,we were put into block 8 which is a 10min walk from the restaurant which is down hill going but unfortunatly not coming back! too far in my opinion... The pool for this block would have been quite close had we of had access from the back of the apartment, unfortunatly the door had been broke and therefore had a padlock on the inside so had to walk around the road so more walking! small pool bar but this did close at 6.30pm and the other was in block 3 where the restaurant was, and this closed at 10.30 anyway and no entertainment at all.. Ended up buying drinks for in the apartment as too far to go and collect..
The room... very well equiped if you were self catering, did not get much sleep as the beds were so uncomfortable even my children struggled with this and they could sleep on the top of a volcano sometimes..lol We did not get bedding changed at all and with no aircon this would have been nice although the rep did tell us that as long as you went to reception after the manager had left the staff would let you have extra towels etc. The beach was about 10 mins away and we did walk down to peurto del carmen which took an hour just to reach the edge taxi back was only 3.5 euros wished we'd had one going!
Please dont think i'm one who winges over the slightest thing because im not the place itself was nice and we were told that for extra euros we would have been able to get nearer the facilities..just wish we'd been offered this at the travel agents... The Restaurant..we enjoyed all meals although little bland in choice but clean and food was lovely...over all we loved Lanzarote weather was fab just didnt think the apartments were suitable for all inclusive to have gone self catering would have been easier although the shop was near the restaurant so again a trek with the shopping!
