We phoned the hotel for directions and were told tram 2 to our hotel, we found from a guy at the tram stop to get off at westlandgraact ... after an ignorant tram driver failed to assist us, we got off and were stranded in the middle of nowhere! Fortunately a couple were walking by who were staying in our hotel, otherwise we wouls still be looking for it! Hid behind restuarants, lidel and flats we found it.
The room was excellent, although twin beds for a valentine trip, lol. The hotel was strange, but our room was nice and that was the main thing. Food from the "foodcourt", well it took for ever and eveything we ordered there was none left of. We didnt make breakfast, so we cant comment
great stay ... just the few grumbles as mentioned. Tram was a good 5 min walk but that was nothing. Good room, although shower had glass bricks looking out to bed, depends who you are sharing with and what you mind.

The HEM hotel is located slightly outside the centre of Amsterdam, but with fantastic transport links into the city (very regular trams and local taxi service is great) it was no problem. The hotel was more than comfortable, with good sized rooms, a fantastic power shower, and pay TV.
The rooms were nice and clean, and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Considering we only paid £300 for 4 days and 3 nights for 2 people (flights included) I was very pleased with the accommodation.
Amsterdam is a beautiful city and the people are very welcoming. There are some fantastic places to eat out, and lots to see and do. Despite 4 days of rain we still saw most of the city (including some eye opening windows!) and had a brilliant weekend.
I am already trying to get some time off work to go back!!

I don't even know how they can call this place a Hotel, the pictures on the website look nice, thats because theyve made the front of the hotel look reasonable for pictures.
The inside was pretty much a converted prison, our window looked onto other rooms, and there was a lovely pipe coming out of our room which u could see going into a drain. We stayed in a 3 bedroom room, which to be honest was exactly the size of a twin room but with an extra bed squeezed in.
the maid service was poor, one of the maids put a "do not disturb" sign on our door so she didnt have to clean our room.
It's about 20 mins by tram ride to the city centre, which for the price you will pay is ridiculous. Don't forget to take into account local tax which is an extra 5% for the rooms which they dont tell u about until you are there. not really sure why there is city tax as its based right on the edge of amsterdam.
The staff in the hotel bar also try to act stupid and charge u extra for drinks hoping that there is confusion with the new currency. the bathrooms are a disgrace too
do not stay at this hotel...
