Booked Superior Sea view, but had to wait two days to get room. Hotel now being used by Saga, who seem to be quoted less than half the price. View from balcony is magnificent if you ignore the building work (not too obtrusive for us). Food good, particularly in the Qui Si Sana restaurant (though the menu repeated too often).
A hotel map would be useful in finding the facilities, and some guests were still unaware of facilities after four days.
We had paid around £1200 for a couple for a week, and Saga quote £390 each for a week in December, so we suspect that we are subsidising Saga (who seem to get all the rooms on a particular level. As we had to pay upfront in August for a holiday in October this seems rather unfair. If we come again, it will have to be with Saga!

We have been to the Fortina for four years running the first two years four of us went the next year six of us and last year eight of us we have always had the most enjoyable time.
The staff are excellent and always helpful and friendly. the food is superb and you really are spoilt for. choice. The Valleta restaurant staff are very good and they would always push tables together to accommodate us. We have already booked for next year and are looking forward to yet another fabulous time.
As for the complainers you always get one or two who are not happy unless they are moaning. All eight of us give it top marks.

We had a one-week winter break at the hotel Fortina Spa resort on an all-inclusive basis. Booked direct with the hotel (0800 number) and the cost included scheduled return flights from Gatwick on British Airways.
The room we had was excellent over looking the harbour and Valetta. The hotel is situated on the promenade in Sliema and there is not much parking if you have a hire car. We did not need one as there is a good bus service and the passenger ferry, which takes you across the harbour, and as this was a winter break we spent a lot of time in the hotel.
The food in the main restaurant (buffet style) was very good and there was a good choice of options. Because we were all-inclusive we also had a choice of dining at the other 3 restaurants (more open in the summer).
The food at these was outstanding with a choice of different styles
Tigne Brasserie - Mediterranean, French and Japanese
Qui-si-sana - Health Cuisine
Garden Restaurant - our favorite.....
Tip. You can eat at lunch times without a reservation but for the evening you need to make a reservation. As they can only be made 2 days in advance make a reservation as soon as you check in the hotel.
A harbour trip and a trip on the glass bottom boat were also included as well as 2 Thalaso (hot Sea water) pool sessions per person. There are plenty of facilities in the hotel, which include a fitness centre and an indoor pool, and several outdoor pools. You can pay a supplement to transfer to a Spa room which also gives you free access to Spa Sante.
Overall an excellent weeks break and we plan to go again next year assuming the prices are still competitive now Malta has joined the EEC.

After planning for some years to go to this hotel were put up in alternative as no rooms on arrival, transfer to Fortina was then messed up & room we got had building work above, below & outside. Reception staff & hotel manager not interested as we had not booked direct. All they gave us was a free phone number to book direct in future. Hotel great but no way going back after living likes nomads on expensive holiday!
