Just back from Puerto Rico in December 2009, very nice resort, warm weather, sunshine and lovely beach time for X-Mas.
As for Monte Paraiso, the amenities offered are of acceptable standard, kitchen and rooms fitted with almost everything you need. The great shortcoming is at night: BUGS everywhere! crawling from beneath the tiled floor, bath, kitchen, onto the chairs, beds, your face while you sleep, and you are the "spray guardian", spending your night watching.
Help from reception staff? Certainly! "Here's another spray tube for you!"
As dawn come, bugs retreat, leaving you sleepless and ready for "good night".
I advise you pay a supplement (around 18 euros/day) to move to Riosol Hotel included with the complex. It is great difference, much bigger and better everything, and of course, NO BUGS!

We arrived at this accom not knowing what 2 expect after reading various reviews, upon arrival we were sent to the sister hotel next door for the keys then given directions to our apartments via lifts, stairs, after 20 minutes of wandering about lost with our cases we found a maintenance man who sent us in the right direction.
These apartments we could not fault they were clean, spacious and fantastic hillside views of the bay. Suppose the only downside was the journey down into the town which was a fair walk or 3.30 euros by taxi.
The weather was 30-35 degrees every day, my only gripe about this resort is the price of drinks in restaurants. 4 euros for a small flat coke in the chinese and most others similar prices. have been here 6 times now and can only say these apartments were second to the morasol suites in which we stayed in in may 09.
All in all we had a great relaxing beach holiday, with some of the hottest temps ive known here in years.
Yes will be going back but it will have to be back to the Morasol for us, although costlier.
Keep a watch out for the duty free sellers outside their shops by the harbour, i saw one seller physically trying to drag an old fella in his late seventies into the shop for a camcorder priced at 35 euros... Avoid all these shops at any cost...
Would i stop here again, yes they offered value for money and were well kept and clean with basic room facilities. No cockroaches seen in a week......

spent the week at these apartments, they were basic but clean. The only disapointment was that there wasn't much hot water for when you want to shower. The apartments are next to the riosol hotel and you can use their facilities as well. The apartments are only a few minutes from the europa center with plenty of shops and resturants. There is a bus to the beach but it is not very regular a taxi is only 4 euros (there are plenty of restraunts here too). also for 4 euro taxi fare you can get to both the bay where there is more nightlife and best of all Pueto Rico Shopping Centre where the are masses of bars, Pubs and restraunts.
This resort was mainly couples and families at Easter, I would not want to go in the summer as it is geared up for younger people and I could imagine it being quite rowdy.
The only bad thing about the Resort was that no matter where you go, walking past a bar,
shop or restraunt there are people out side beckoning you in, It got really really annoying as some wouldn't take no thank you for an answer.
We had a very nice holiday here very central, lots of places to go and very nice weather around 25oc

The Monte Paraiso Apartments are...

The Monte Paraiso Apartments are situated right at the top of the Puerto Rico valley and provides fantastic views of Puerto Rico and the harbour area. It is only about a three minute walk to the upper small Europa centre which provides many bars, shops and restaurants for all tastes and ages. (Although avoid the cafe/bar called "Tickerty Boo's" located on the 1st floor.)
Our Monte Paraiso Apartment accomodation for the week was a one bedroomed apartment comprising of a bedroom, bathroom, a combined kitchen and living room and a small outside terrace. The apartments were cleaned five out of the seven days we stayed, with the bedding changed twice during our stay. The kitchen had all the equipment needed to cook a basic meal, although with such a choice of restaurants, we never used it. Each room has a safety deposit box which can be hired at a cost of 2.10euros a day.
The Monte Paraiso swimming pool and sun lounge area were located down a series of around five sets of steps from our apartments. Although there are lifts which we never used, if you prefer. The views from the swimming pool and sun lounge area are fantastic and take in most of Puerto Rico. There is a pool bar which provides snacks and drinks, although I wasn't impressed with the food.
As Puerto Rico is built in a valley, and the Monte Paraiso is at the top of Puerto Rico, you either need to be the explorer Sir Raulph Fiennes to get to the main large europa centre at the bottom of Puerto Rico or be willing to jump in one of the regular taxi's (which costs 2 - 3euros from outside the upper small europa centre)! Once at the main large europa centre, the choice of shops, bars and restaurants will cover everyone's taste and ages!
A pleasant stay at the Monte Paraiso and a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in Puerto Rico. We will definitely be visiting again next year!
